Guy Penrod Begins New Chapter in Illustrious Career with Release of Solo Country Album from Gaither Music Group
Written by admin on April 15, 2010 – 2:20 pm -
“A country song has the ability to tell a story with the potential for the positive,” says Penrod. “The song can become modern-day parable on how to live life.” Happily married for 25 years, with eight children ranging in age from 4 to 18, Penrod is passionate about sharing these parables set to music–songs that express the values by which he lives his life.
Penrod recently completed a country radio tour in support of the debut single, “Are You The One,” written by Tammy Hyler and Shaye Smith, which had an official add date of March 29. The song is about parents taking responsibility to teach their children and be an example for them, rather than leaving it to outside influences. Of the more than 80 stations currently playing the single, WKML in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is an early supporter:
“No brainer…Great song with a great message from an artist our audience already knows & loves.” DeanO, PD – WKML Fayetteville, NC
“Even When We Do” is about the beauty of growing old with your mate, “Every Saint” is about forgiveness and redemption,” while “The World Goes ‘Round” is about the circle of life. “Young Enough to Know Better” speaks of the consequences of one’s decisions, and “Pray About Everything” is an uptempo reminder to do as the title suggests. “Breathe Deep” and “Nothin’ More Beautiful Than That” appreciate the simple pleasure of life. “More Power To Ya,” “The Maker of Them All” and “The Broken Ones” are full of hope and encouragement, “The People That Matter” is about true friendship, and “Knowing What I Know About Heaven” is about letting go of a loved one.
Penrod’s Breathe Deep Tour launched March 25 with two sell-out performances in Akron, Ohio. Featuring Penrod and his band, the tour will travel to 18 cities, including Omaha, Tulsa and Virginia Beach, before wrapping up on May 30 in Orlando. The tour features special guest Austins Bridge.
During his 14 years with Gaither Vocal Band, Penrod performed before more than five million people on Bill & Gloria Gaither’s Homecoming Tours and was featured on Gaither television specials airing on multiple networks. The Gaither Vocal Band sold more than one million CDs and DVDs while Penrod was a member. Prior to joining the Vocal Band, Penrod was a highly sought-after studio singer in Nashville and appeared for three years on TNN’s popular Music City Tonight as a vocalist in the house band.

DISCOVERY HOUSE MUSIC RELEASES FOURTH SOLO PROJECT FROM POPULAR SINGER/SONGWRITER
Written by admin on March 10, 2010 – 9:35 am -|
Wexelberg has written or performed several top 10 national radio singles in the course of her career. The first single from the new CD will be the title cut which Wexelberg says was inspired by an obscure prophet in the Bible. “The title song was actually inspired by the third chapter of the book of Habakkuk,” says Shannon. “I have an idea of how Habakkuk felt in those verses. Less than a year ago, our lives were in utter turmoil –from jobs, to where we were going to live, to the direction of our future. In the natural I had every reason to be sad, disappointed, frustrated and discouraged.”
Wexelberg and her husband thought they had come to the end of the most difficult trials in their lives. After many years of infertility and desperately wanting to be parents, the Wexelbergs adopted their son Christian in 2005. Their family finally felt complete and the couple began a new season in their lives as the parents of an active little boy. Then, in March of last year, Wexelberg’s husband Mark was out for a Sunday motorcycle ride when a girl in a truck ran a stop sign and collided head-on with Mark’s bike. The impact broke 23 bones in his body and required three surgeries to place metal rods, screws and plates in his femurs, pelvis, ankle and knee -procedures that literally put him back together again. While the doctors have been encouraged by his year-long progress, Mark still has a long way to go in the healing process. Wexelberg penned nine of the eleven songs on the I Have A Song CD, which also includes well-known hymns “‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus” and “Praise to the Lord the Almighty.” Along with her solo projects, Wexelberg has worked with other ministries and organizations including the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Scott Krippayne, Paul Baloche, Ross Parsley, Kim Hill, Maranatha! Music, Integrity Music, The Desperation Band, LifeWay Worship, and PBS, among many others. Discovery House Music was founded in 1996 as an extension of Discovery House Publishers and is a non-profit division of the RBC Ministries’ family, publishers of the popular devotional Our Daily Bread. Portland Rock Band, Sixteen Cities, Signs With Centricity Music
Written by admin on March 3, 2010 – 9:28 am -
National Self-Titled Debut To Release April 20, 2010
Nashville, TN —- Modern rock band, Sixteen Cities, has signed with Centricity Music and is scheduled to release their self-titled debut April 20, 2010. The project was produced by Jason Ingram (Meredith Andrews, Tenth Avenue North), Rusty Varenkamp (Bebo Norman, Rush of Fools) and Steve Wilson (Hawk Nelson, Leeland). The project will be distributed by EMI Distribution.
“At Centricity we not only try to honor the artists’ talent but more importantly we embrace their ministry,” says Chris Hamilton, Manager A&R, Centricity Music. “Sixteen Cities is such a talented group of artists that have been compared to The Fray, Jars Of Clay and The Afters. But what really impacted us at the label, was their ministry with the unchurched in public high schools around the country. It has become a very powerful and effective calling that also translates well with the more traditional music venues.”
“In high school, we started out by leading our peers in worship on Wednesday mornings and we fell in love with it,” recalls the band’s lead vocalist and keyboardist, Josiah Warneking. “As soon as we graduated, we all prayed and sought God’s true heart and will. We felt called to full-time music ministry, but knew nothing about the music industry. A week or two later we got a phone call from a guy with a ministry called Common Ground, which is basically a huge production with concerts, games and a Gospel presentation in a public school. So here we were thinking we’d have no chance to continue singing to students after having just graduated, and we wound up in front of hundreds and sometimes thousands of teenagers in gymnasiums singing about Jesus.”
Sixteen Cities hails from Portland, Oregon and the group started performing as a band in their early years of high school. The group’s moniker was inspired by the tribe of Issachâr in Joshua 19, which also understood the current needs of its generation. The band’s modern rock sound and heartfelt messages began connecting with fans within the indie Northwest music scene. Sixteen Cities began garnering national recognition when a friend at a Christian bookstore started passing their CD around the industry and Centricity Music invited them to their indie artist retreat, which led to their label deal in 2008. Sixteen Cities remains an active touring band and has toured with such other acts as Kutless, Building 429, Fireflight and Sanctus Real.

DOVE AWARD WINNING, AUSTINS BRIDGE, TO RELEASE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SOPHOMORE PROJECT TIMES LIKE THESE ON MAY 4TH
Written by admin on February 17, 2010 – 2:37 pm -ALBUM TIMES LIKE THESE PRODUCED BY RASCAL FLATTS’ JAY DEMARCUS AND ALREADY SELECTED BY BILLBOARD AS “BEST BETS 2010: FACES TO WATCH”
Nashville, TN (February 17, 2010) —- Dove Award winning group, Austins Bridge, is gearing up to release their highly anticipated sophomore project, Times Like These, May 4, 2010. The CD was produced by Jay DeMarcus (Rascal Flatts). At the same time, Austins Bridge has signed with Jeff Robert and Associates for booking and Patton House Entertainment for management.
“Rarely does an artist come along that is so gifted, genuine and extremely talented,” says DeMarcus. “It was an absolute joy to make this record, as not only can these guys sing their tails off, they are truly anointed. Austins Bridge has a big, bright future.”
“It was not only a privilege and an honor to work with Jay DeMarcus,” says Austins Bridge, “but it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to absorb an experience that cannot be taught in any classroom or conference.” “We went into every studio session like little sponges, ready to soak up every morsel of information we could. Jay brings not only a lot of talent to the recording process, but a lifetime of proven success as well. We can’t wait to get this project out to a listening audience and we look forward to continuing to work with Jay on future projects.”
“When all of us at Patton House Entertainment heard the new music from Austins Bridge, we knew we wanted to be part of this band’s career,” says Andrew Patton, President, Patton House Entertainment. “Not only is Austins Bridge extremely talented but the hearts of these guys really put the meaning behind the lyrics. When you combine those elements with their powerful live show….you’re talking a major hit act here.”
“We are excited to be representing Austin’s Bridge,” says Randy Humphries, Artist Representative, Jeff Roberts & Associates. “When I saw them for the first time a few years ago I thought they were an amazing band! The vocals were incredible and I thought their music would be relevant to the fans of Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban. When I first heard Times Like These, I knew Jeff Roberts & Associates had to be involved in their career and we are looking forward to great things in the future with Austin’s Bridge.”
Times Like These features the strong harmonies of Austins Bridge that spotlight Christian lyrics with a deep Country/Bluegrass sound. The first single from the project, “Mercy,” will be going for adds at Christian radio February 19th. The song is an uplifting anthem to mercy being in your life when the going gets tough. Mercy never leaves when others walk away/Mercy’s there for you so you/don’t ever have to be afraid/When you’re feeling hopeless, abandoned, and lost/Mercy pleads your case before the cross/Mercy never leaves. Band members Baird and Rivers wrote two songs for the project, “Good Times” and “Hold Onto Jesus,” with Rivers also co-writing, “Dash Between The Dates.” Jay DeMarcus lent his songwriting efforts to the CD by co-writing the title track and “Angels.” The strength of the new album has already garnered the honor of “Best Bets 2010: Faces To Watch” by Billboard magazine.
Austins Bridge broke onto the national music scene with their debut self-titled album in 2007 and the strength of the project resulted in the band winning the 2008 Dove award in the category of Bluegrass Song of the Year, “He’s In Control.” They also received two additional 2008 Dove nominations for New Artist of the Year and Country Album of the Year. Austins Bridge is also known for their powerful stage performances and their well-honed touring skills have led to bookings with the 2008 Franklin Graham Crusade, performing at Winterfest for the past three years, appearing on the world premiere of Gospel Music Channel’s Front Row Live, recorded a segment for the Live At Oak Tree series and this past November, Austins Bridge played at the grand opening of Mercy Ministries’ house in Sacramento, California. Also, the group joined the multitude of stars that participated in recording, “Come Together Now,” in support of the Haiti earthquake victims.

DOVE NOMINATED BURCHFIELD BROTHERS RELEASE TIMES AND SEASONS THAT CELEBRATES TWENTY YEARS AS RECORDING ARTISTS
Written by admin on February 15, 2010 – 1:33 pm -Project Showcases Favorite Songs Of Burchfield Brothers In One Special Album
Nashville, TN (February 15, 2010) —- Two of the most talented and unique musicians in the Christian and mainstream genres, Dove nominated Burchfield Brothers, release their eleventh CD, Times and Seasons. The project features some of Jon and Ben Burchfield’s favorite songs from their previous albums and the CD is available on the duo’s website, www.burchfieldbrothers.com, and digitally online at iTunes.com.
“Times and Seasons can be compared to a diary spanning two decades,” explains Jon Burchfield. “The ‘times’ reflect life experiences and the ‘seasons’ are like the ever-changing chapters in our lives. Whether it’s ‘Wayfaring Stranger’ from Appalachia or ‘Laguna Lights’ from the west coast, each song evokes a memory from another time and place.”
Times and Seasons showcases twelve eclectic selections that includes; “To Him Who Sits on the Throne,” “Amazing Grace,” “Be Thou My Vision,” “Doxology,” “Heart Of Mary” and “Sunset Coast.” Many of the songs were inspired by nature itself, being the perfect example of letting go of the old and embracing the new. The project is an instrumental collection of great hymns and timeless classics that features the multi-talented Burchfield Brothers playing guitar, marimba and Irish flutes.
Burchfield Brothers remain one of the most popular touring artists who have been performing for seventeen years, have appeared before more than 1.2 million fans and logged around one million miles. They have been booked at such high-profile venues as Saddleback Church/Southern California, Crystal Cathedral/Garden Grove, CA, National Quartet Convention/Louisville, KY, Southern Baptist Convention/Dallas, TX and Moody Pastors Conference/Chicago, IL. And the Burchfield Brothers have garnered praise from their peers in the music industry: Gloria Gaither, The chords they strike are not only on their instruments, but in the hearts of us all. Chonda Pierce, Their music is rich in variety and fills the room with laughter and wonder. James Dobson, You have set a tone that is both worshipful and fun! The way you intertwine the classics with some of the world’s greatest hymns really strikes a chord with me.
Jon and Ben Burchfield grew up in the Smoky Mountains, along with their three other siblings. They were influenced by a musical family where neighbors and friends would bring their instruments for memorable evenings of Gospel and Appalachian music. Eventually, the family moved to south of Chicago, IL and there the Burchfield boys were exposed to a new world of music that included Classical, Latin and Jazz. At eighteen-years-old, Jon began to hone his guitar skills by playing in a backup band for CMA Country Hall of Fame member, Roy Clark. At the same time, Ben received a classical music degree from Olivet Nazarene University and when Jon came off the road, the brothers moved to Nashville, TN to pursue their music career. It wasn’t long before they received a Dove nomination for their “Smoky Mountain Memories” project and developed into a consistent strong touring act with numerous loyal fans.

New Children’s CD Will Benefit Charity for Teen Mothers
Written by admin on February 3, 2010 – 1:31 pm -
|
Teen Mother Choices International (www.TMCINT.org) is a unique charity that utilizes volunteers from local area churches to help provide teen mothers with a support system. The program offers things such as childcare so the young mothers can return to school, caring mentors who provide emotional support, and Life Skills Workshops which equip teenage mothers with resources and information to help them become independent, functioning members of society. Weyerhaeuser served as a past board member of the organization and has witnessed first-hand the impact the program has had on teen mothers. One of the goals of Teen Mothers Choices is to keep all the girls off of welfare and to date, 100% of the girls who have participated in the program have graduated from school and found jobs to support themselves. “Teen Mothers Choices has truly made an impact in the lives of young women who desperately need it,” say Weyerhaeuser. “I have personally seen their dedication and the successes they have had, and I wanted to continue to help their efforts with this new CD.” Big Green Alligator is Weyerhaeuser’s first foray into kid’s music, but her nickname was earned a long time ago. “I started singing at youth camps when I was 16,” she says. “And to this day, I have 30-somethings come up to me in the grocery store and ask, ‘Aren’t you La-La Lisa?’ That name has stuck even after all these years.” Weyerhaeuser’s accomplishments as a worship leader, licensed counselor, Professor of Adolescent Psychology with Master Degrees in both Religion and Counseling Psychology, and a pastor’s wife, have given her ample knowledge and experience to create a kids music project. But probably the defining experience that gave Weyerhaeuser the most confidence to take the plunge into children’s music was being the mother of three growing boys, now aged 6 to 15. “I was tuned into a kid’s music station on XM radio in the car with the boys one day,” she recalls, “and the music was so interesting and engaging. Even after I dropped the kids off at school, I found myself listening to that station. I really started thinking about writing some children’s songs at that point. I wanted to make them fun, but I also wanted to make sure they were meaningful.” Weyerhaeuser has released four solo acoustic folk/pop recordings and toured various venues in the U.S. and in Europe. She and her band have performed at the Cornerstone festival, Lifest, Joyful Noise Festival, Fisherman’s Fest, Rocketown, Cup of Joy, and shared the stage with a variety of artists including Phil Keaggy, Cheri Keaggy, Larry Norman, Tammy Trent, Whitecross and Glenn Kaiser, among others. Plans are in the works for the Big Green Alligator and another song character named Silly Bob to come to life – in costume-form – and join Weyerhaeuser in her upcoming concerts. And there will be an interactive website and Facebook page for kids to ask the Big Green Alligator anything they like and receive responses that can be trusted by parents. “I put a lot of questions into the lyrics of Big Green Alligator – ‘Where did we come from, Where are we going, and How did you find your way to me?’- because I wanted kids to feel like they could ask this character anything,” says Weyerhaeuser. “I believe it is essential for kids to learn to express their feelings at early ages. I want them to know that if they are shy, it’s ok. If they feel sad about something, it’s ok. There is a freedom in learning to correctly express emotions. If kids can learn how to do that when they are young, it will be more natural for them to do as they get older.” For more information, visit www.bluemyrtlekids.com. |

CRACKER BARREL AND DAILEY & VINCENT HONOR STATLER BROTHERS WITH EXCLUSIVE NEW RELEASE
Written by admin on February 3, 2010 – 1:20 pm -
Bluegrass Entertainers of the Year Will Perform Statler Brothers Classics in 2010 Tour
LEBANON, Tenn. – Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent, the reigning International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Entertainers of the Year, will take another step in honoring the legendary Statler Brothers as they perform several Statler Brothers songs during their 2010 tour. Many of these classic songs are featured on the duo’s new release: Dailey and Vincent Sing The Statler Brothers. This twelve-song CD, now available exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® and online at crackerbarrel.com, features new recordings of classic Statler Brothers songs and showcases the incredible musical talents of Dailey & Vincent.
“Dailey & Vincent Sing The Statler Brothers features one of the country’s top bluegrass acts performing music that is authentic and loved,” says Cracker Barrel’s Vice President of Marketing, Peter Keiser. “Jamie and Darrin have years of performing and recording experience, and they have earned a great deal of notice as well as a number of significant awards in the short time they have been recording together. This CD honors the Statlers, and gives us all a good idea of what’s to come with Dailey & Vincent.”
With more than 100 performances planned for 2010, Dailey & Vincent will add a special Statler Brothers segment to their concert song list. The songs featured on this exclusive CD are exciting and authentic bluegrass interpretations of 12 Statler Brothers classics. The Statler Brothers, one of country music’s most popular groups until they retired in 2002, are pleased that Dailey & Vincent are bringing new sounds to these beloved songs by recording and performing them with such care and dedication.
“Jamie and Darrin have used their magic touch to honor us and our music,” says Statler Don Reid. “This CD is one great tribute from two great friends. Dailey and Vincent – they are what good music and friendship is about today.” The Statler Brothers made an indelible contribution to the American music landscape, from the day they hit the road with Johnny Cash in 1964 until their retirement in 2002. They are one of only six acts to be inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, writing and recording iconic songs about small-town life, love, faith, and days gone by.
For years, Dailey & Vincent have admired the Statler Brothers. In 2008, they were honored to perform at the medallion ceremony marking the Statlers’ official induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame®. On their two previous releases, Dailey & Vincent performed Statler hits like “More Than a Name on a Wall,” “Years Ago” and “There is You.”
Dailey & Vincent are pleased to have this new CD at Cracker Barrel because they, themselves are at Cracker Barrel on a regular basis. Jamie says, “We’re delighted to work with Cracker Barrel on this project because we pull our bus into a Cracker Barrel every weekend; that’s where we have breakfast and lunch.” And Darrin adds, “Bluegrass music is the roots of America, and we think Cracker Barrel is the roots of America, and combining the two is just a perfect match.” And Jamie adds, “From the very first time we started including some Statler Brothers songs in our shows, the audience response was overwhelming. All it took was the first few bars of ‘Elizabeth’ or ‘Do You Know You Are My Sunshine?’ and the crowd was out of their seats and singing along. That is a testament to the timeless quality of the Statlers’ songs, which is why we’re so honored to do this album, and why we think the folks at our shows will love the new Cracker Barrel segment.”
Dailey & Vincent have taken the bluegrass world by storm since they launched their career as a duo in 2007. Jamie Dailey was formerly the lead singer and guitarist for Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver; until the end of 2007, Darrin Vincent was guitar and mandolin player and harmony vocalist with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. In addition to being named Entertainer of the Year, Dailey & Vincent received 2009 IBMA awards for Vocal Group of the Year and Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year, for “On the Other Side.” Their latest success follows an incredible run in 2008 when they took home seven IBMA awards, becoming the first act in the history of the IBMA awards to be named Entertainer of the Year and Emerging Artist in the same year.

First Radio Single Makes Early Impact

Additionally, LifeWay Christian Resources, one of the world’s largest providers of Christian products and services, will be using the song “God Loved the World” as part of their 2010 Christmas musical entitled The Journey. Shaw’s producer, Paul Marino, is a long-time LifeWay songwriter and producer. “I’m very excited about how ‘God Loved the World’ is already making an impact,” says Shaw. “I’m so proud of this song because it shares the completeness of the Gospel. It has become an instant favorite in our concerts.” Shaw began her music career as an opera singer after graduating with a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music. She performed in over forty shows in the theater, from Shakespeare to Puccini operas. Shaw later became a Professor of Music for Cedarville University and performed with the Columbus Symphony. After her father was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, Shaw decided to record a CD of self-penned, contemporary Christian songs and give it to her dad as a Christmas gift. “Dad always supported my opera career, but it wasn’t really his cup of tea,” says Shaw. Though it was meant for her father’s personal enjoyment and encouragement, her first foray into the Christian genre was eventually featured on over 300 radio stations around the world, including South Africa and Australia. LOVE BROKE THROUGH is Shaw’s first national project, with six of the CD’s ten songs either written or co-written by Shaw. The CD also includes a classical benediction that Shaw uses in all her concerts, “E’en So Lord Jesus Quickly Come,” a song that Shaw says gives her a chance to “dust off” her operatic vocals. Shaw, who is the parent of a special needs child, also writes children’s musicals featuring Scripture-memory songs that are used for Vacation Bible Schools and home school groups. In addition to her touring schedule, Shaw serves as worship leader for a church in Ohio. To promote the release of LOVE BROKE THROUGH, Shaw will appear on several national television programs in the coming weeks including various shows on the Christian Television Network, 100 Huntley Street, and Atlanta Live, among others. LOVE BROKE THROUGH is being distributed to over 650 Christian retail stores via Integra Interactive, Inc. For more information, visit: Jennifer Shaw |
