Christy Sutherland Named Co-Host for 2010 Diamond Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Coastal Media Group and SGN Scoops Digital, home of the Diamond Awards, are excited to announce the addition of popular soloist Christy Sutherland as co-host for the 2010 Diamond Awards program.
Christy Sutherland is a prized songwriter and celebrated vocalist in the Southern Gospel community. Her songs have been recorded by such artists as Sandi Patty, Triumphant Quartet, Prelude, Rizen, Kim Hopper, The Greenes, and many more. Triumphant Quartet’s current single – “Somebody Died For Me” – was penned by Sutherland. Sutherland has been nominated for four Diamond Awards including Song of the Year for “Somebody Died For Me.”
Christy said, “I’m looking forward to being one of the co-hosts of the prestigious Diamond Awards. It’s such an honor to share the stage with so many of gospel music’s greats.”
Rob Patz of Coastal Media Group said, “We are very excited about having Christy Sutherland as one of our co-hosts for this year’s event. She’s a very talented singer and songwriter, and we know she’s going to do a great job.”
Christy will co-host the event with long-time host Johnathan Bond (of Young Harmony).

Diamond Awards Ballot Update

Yesterday a number of Diamond Awards second-round ballots were received in our Washington office that were postmarked April 29, 2010.
Because those ballots were received prior to the April 30 deadline, they were counted. This count resulted in an additional nominee in our Instrumentalist category, which is reflected on the ballot.
If you have already voted in this third & final round and wish to change your vote, please submit a new ballot.

Diamond Award Nominee Zack Swain signs with EHA-Nashville, Releases New Project
Written by admin on April 22, 2010 – 12:42 pm -Nashville, TN – As Zack Swain’s long-awaited CD, “For God So Loved” is released, he is both thrilled and excited to be parelleling that accomplishment with the award nomination and bringing on Evie Hawkins of EHA-Nashville to help
publish the good news of his music ministry.
Swain brings a rich musical heritage to each performance. His background is rich from several generations, covering a variety of musical styles. A student of the Stamps-Baxter school of music, Swain studied under some of Gospel music’s finest musicians, teachers, and performers. He also studied piano privately in Greenbrier, Arkansas and Nashville, Tennessee for several years. Beginning at the age of three, Swain began to amaze many friends and family with his unique piano artistry. He played an integral part in music ministries of North Arkansas’ largest Nazarene church: Greenbrier Church of the Nazarene in Greenbrier, Arkansas. At the age of 11, he was on the full-time music staff of the church, fulfilling responsibilities of principal keyboardist and pianist. At age 15, he made the decision to devote all of his energies toward working in the field of Southern Gospel music. He has shared the stage with many prestigious artists in the gospel music spectrum and his music ministry has taken him to many churches, arenas, and performance halls all around the world. He has had the honor of playing at the Deep South Quartet Conventions, Bud Magnuss Memorial Singing, and being a part of the piano “Roll of Honor” with many legends and Hall of Fame pianists. He also has performed on stage at the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion.
Swain is also involved in studio work, playing keyboard sessions on recording projects in various Southeastern studios. He has recorded solo piano projects, all of which have been released and distributed through his solo concerts. Swain has captured the attention and hearts of Gospel music fans all over the world and is quickly rising toward being one of Gospel music’s favorite musicians.

SSE Artists Land 30 Nominations on Diamond Awards Top 10 Ballot

Southern Spin Entertainment artists and organizations landed a total of 30 nominations on the Top 10 ballot.
SSE’s home on the web landed a nomination for Favorite Industry Website, alongside three-time winner of the award SoGospelNews.com (now AbsolutelyGospel.com). Also, Chris Unthank, program manager for SouthernSpinRadio.com, landed a Top 10 spot for the Paul Heil Award for Broadcasting. SouthernSpinRadio.com was awarded the Paul Heil Award in 2006.

TELESTIALS FINDING SUCCESS IN EVERYTHING

The groups latest single, Everything, was named the #7 New Release of January 2010 by the Singing News and is #35 on The Singing News Chart for May. Everything was produced by Southern Gospel great, Michael Sykes and can be found on the Telestials latest album, I Can Call Jesus. “This is probably one of the most powerful songs I have ever sang. Jonathan Edwards Named Music Production Director for 2010 Diamond Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Coastal Media Group and SGN Scoops Digital are happy to announce the addition of Jonathan Edwards to the staff of the 2010 SGN Scoops Diamond Awards. Edwards has been appointed Music Production Director for the awards ceremony.
Edwards is a known professional in the Southern Gospel community. In addition to performing with the Ascension Quartet, Jonathan is also the late afternoon and early evening DJ for Springfield, Missouri’s KWFC-FM – one of Southern Gospel’s most loved and respected radio stations.
