HisSong Performs at Colorado Night Vision Festival

Group Also Makes Stop at Stamps-Baxter School of Music
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (August 11, 2010) – Vine Records/Crossroads recording artist and 2009 Dove Award nominee HisSong performed at the 2010 Night Vision Festival in Olathe, Colorado last month.  Additional artists who performed at the event included Michael W. Smith, Brandon Heath, Third Day, American Idol’s Phil Stacey, Matthew West, Francesca Battistelli, Kutless, Skillet, The Katinas and more.  HisSong was the only Southern Gospel group to perform for the three-day festival, which had more than 15,000 people in attendance each day.
 
HisSong owner/manager Dennis Humphries states, “We were very honored to be a part of this event.  Our friend Victoria Hearst, who is such an inspiration to us all, brought HisSong to Colorado in 2009 for another event and immediately asked us to be a part of this festival.  We were very concerned about being the only Southern Gospel group and how the crowd would accept our music. However, we were very pleased with the response we got.  Anywhere God opens the doors for us, we’re ready to walk through.”
 
In addition, HisSong also performed at the Stamps-Baxter School of Music in Murfreesboro, Tennessee at Middle Tennessee State University on Wednesday, July 15, 2010.
 
“We were honored to get an invitation from Ben Speer to perform an hour concert to the students and faculty,” said Dennis.  “I attended the Stamps-Baxter School of Music several years ago, and it has helped me in so many ways in my ministry and career. It was great getting to talk with the students and faculty at our product table following the concert.  It brought back so many memories of when I was a student.”

Additional Performers and Special Events Named for 2nd Annual Branson Gospel Music Convention

BRANSON, Mo.  – Additional performers and special events continue to be planned for the 2nd Annual Branson Gospel Music Convention which returns to Branson, Missouri this month. Gospel music enthusiasts and fans from all across the country will gather this month to celebrate Gospel music as excitement continues to grow for the event!

In addition to the already planned Diamond Awards – the Branson Gospel Music Convention will host a special concert featuring many of the brightest keyboardists in the Southern Gospel community. This “Piano Jubilee” will be hosted by award-winning pianist Zack Swain. The “Zack Swain and Friends Piano Jubilee” will take place on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. during the daily matinee concert.

Also, a special All-Star Choir will gather on Friday afternoon, July 2, 2010 for a special tribute to Albert E. Brumley. That event will also take place during the matinee concert.

HisSong To Host 9th Annual Homecoming This Weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Dove Award-nominated trio HisSong will be celebrating nine years of full-time ministry this weekend. The group will be hosting their 9th Annual Homecoming on Saturday, June 5, 2010.

The event will take place at Lifepoint Church (501 Legacy Drive) in Smyrna, Tennessee at will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:00 p.m.). In addition to a performance from HisSong, the group will host multi-award winning group The Perrys. Promoter Bill Bailey will be serving as the special guest emcee for the event as well.

HisSong Nominated in SGM FanFair Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Popular Southern Gospel trio HisSong was greeted with news this week that they have been nominated in the SGM FanFair Awards.  The nominees for this year’s SGM FanFair Awards were announced this week in a special press release announcement.

HisSong landed a nomination in the coveted Album of the Year category for their sophomore Vine Records release Journey Through the Sky.  HisSong is joined by the Primitive Quartet, Booth Brothers, Sammy Glass Family, and The Perrys in the category.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for us,” mentioned Dennis Humphries of HisSong. “We really feel like this is HisSong’s best album to date, and being nominated alongside such great albums means the world to us.”

The nominees in the SGM FanFair Awards were chosen by the readers of Christian Voice Magazine and attendees of the SGM FanFair.  The winners for the awards will be announced on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at the 6th Annual SGM FanFair.

HisSong Releases Journey to the Sky During National Quartet Convention

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Dove Award nominee HisSong released their sophomore recording for Vine Records/Crossroads Music last week. The new album, Journey Through the Sky, released last Monday, September 14, 2009 during the week of the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Word is already coming in that Journey Through the Sky is the award-winning trio’s finest release to date.

The album has already had a strong impact at Southern Gospel radio. The debut single, “I Believe In Prayer,” released last month through Crossroads Music Group and Spin-N-Motion Promotions. After only a few weeks at radio, the song was named the most added song at Southern Gospel radio – ranking #1 on the Singing News Top 10 New Releases (October 2009 issue) and will be the highest debut for the upcoming November 2009 report. (The actual position the song came in at will be released to the public on October 1, 2009.)

In addition, the song just broke the Top 10 on the SoGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart – coming in at #10 for the September 21, 2009 report.

Journey Through the Sky is the follow-up recording to the group’s breakthrough and GMA Dove Award nominated project On the Way Up – which spawned off the #2 hit song “I Still Have It All” and Top 10 hit “That’s When God Steps In” (peaked at #7).

The group made their debut main stage appearance at the National Quartet Convention last week – performing Thursday evening of the week-long event. The group, along with soloist Christian Davis, just got back from an 11-day tour to Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland. The group sang before 4,000 people at their first concert across the sea at one of Norway’s largest fairs.

The popular trio will be making their first tour stop to Colorado this weekend.
