Blackwood Brothers Quartet Features Special Guests, Oak Ridge Boys, on New Single

Hendersonville, TN – It’s always a treat when a legendary quartet such as the Blackwood Brothers or the Oak Ridge Boys release brand new music, but when two such quartets collaborate on a new song, it’s even more special!

The Blackwood Brothers Quartet carry the distinction of being the best-known name in Gospel music history, and now 81 years after their original formation, still provide Southern Gospel music fans with solid, four-part harmonies and quality singing.  Their latest project through Daywind Records, Forever: 80^th Anniversary Recording, celebrates 80 years of the Blackwood Brothers Quartet and the impact they have made on the genre.

On their new radio single, “Long Gone,” the Blackwood Brothers were joined by another legendary quartet, 2015 Country Music Hall of Fame inductees, the Oak Ridge Boys. With 50 years of tradition, the Oak Ridge Boys have been decorated in both the Gospel and Country music industries as one of the most innovative and recognizable sounds in music.

“Growing up in Texas, the Blackwood Brothers and the Statesmen Quartet were at the top of the Gospel Music industry. I loved going to see them in Ft. Worth, TX at the ‘Battle Of The Songs,’” shares Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys. “Having the opportunity to record with the Blackwood Brothers was a huge honor. When I heard the song, ‘Long Gone,’ I immediately knew that Billy Blackwood had a new vision for the Blackwood Brothers. The phrasing, the pushes, the style of singing, and the song in particular were all obvious signs that there is a new Blackwood Brothers for the future.”

Allen continues, “Since we recorded ‘Long Gone,’ I listened to the entire album and I will say that Billy Blackwood has managed to respect the legacy of the Blackwood Brothers name and career, but he has also placed his identity on the future of the Blackwood Brothers.”

“Long Gone” is the second single from the Blackwood Brother’s anniversary recording, Forever: 80^th Anniversary Recording,  and was co-written by Billy Blackwood, Kenna West & Jason Cox. The single released to Southern Gospel radio in March is already receiving a positive response from DJs across the country.
