Creekside Gospel Music Convention

Written by SGN Scoops on November 13, 2012 – 2:28 pm -

Los Angeles, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2012) – On November 18th, Billboard charting Annie Moses Band will debut the music video for their first radio single “Blush” on Great American Country television (GAC). Great American Country is the leader in country music entertainment, and delivers to viewers the widest variety of country music, its artists and the lifestyles they influence.  To coincide with the music video debut, Annie Moses Band has launched a pledge titled “Blush Beliefs,” where listeners can show their support for the values behind the song. “Blush” was originally released on the band’s album, Pilgrims & Prodigals, which hit stores this past September.

The music video was directed by award-winning filmmaker, David Kiern, inside of Tennessee’s glamorous Rippavilla Plantation. Though Rippavilla is a historic mansion infamous for its ghosts, the band saw it as a perfect backdrop for the radio single which marries a nostalgic message to a modern edge.

“Blush” is a song that aims to question our culture’s cynicism and to speak a timeless truth with powerful relevance. The band recognizes that almost everyone in our society has been hurt by broken relationships, and that individuals turn to cynicism rather than a belief in values that create and nurture loving and long-lasting relationships. The song’s message communicates the group’s desire to return to a time when a wounded heart was not an inevitable experience.

“I hope ‘Blush’ reminds people of a time when faithfulness and kindness, dignity and innocence were not the stuff of fairytales, but the values that bring love to everyday life,” says Annie Wolaver, lead vocalist and violinist of the band.

To launch its “Blush Beliefs” campaign, Annie Moses Band is calling likeminded “Blush” listeners to act through www.blushbeliefs.com.  On the site, visitors will find the music video and a corresponding pledge. From there, viewers can log in through Facebook and align with the campaign which promotes messages of truth, faithfulness, kindness and more.

Pilgrims & Prodigals is a two-disc CD/DVD package that is a collection of songs that explore the timeless theme of roaming and redemption. The album is centered on the idea that everyone in the world is going somewhere and features 13 diverse tracks, eight of which were written or co-written by members of the group. When sampling the project listeners can expect to find a blend of classical, jazz, folk, and Celtic stylings.

Fans ‘Count On’ an All-new Dynamic Release from The Hoppers

Written by SGN Scoops on October 22, 2012 – 10:01 am -

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—October 22nd, 2012— One of Gospel music’s most awarded and acclaimed family groups The Hoppers have just completed an all-new studio recording entitled Count Me In (Spring Hill Music/Gaither Gospel Series®), scheduled to hit the streets on October 23rd.  Family members Kim, Dean, Connie, Claude and Michael Hopper joined hands with industry veteran producer Michael Sykes, along with co-production from Kim and Mike, to bring this collection of songs to life.
“Michael Sykes took us under his wing and revived a bit of old-school soul in all of us,” described Connie.  “You can hear the emotion and conviction in our wavering voices throughout this album, and we intentionally didn’t edit any of that emotion out. We set a path for ourselves, musically, to simply do something different…something that hopefully makes you feel God’s Spirit.”
“We discovered we didn’t have to go about this in the standard ‘ABC recording fashion,’” explained Kim.  “Instead, we dove head first into recording vocals with only a click track, later adding the instrumentation and definitive melody around our voices.  This is contrary to what we normally do, and it gave such a freedom in tracking!  We were able to do so much more with the emotion of each song.”
That passion is evident on Count Me In, complete with lush orchestration and unmistakable, seamless harmonies.  The release features stirring power ballads, for which the group has long been known, with new offerings such as “He Didn’t Just Carry the Cross He Carried Me” and “I Am Whatever You Need.”  For Hoppers’ fans whose favorite tunes are the group’s contagious upbeat melodies, the new release includes “Mighty Is the Word,” “I’ll Take You Home” and the title cut and first radio single “Count Me In,” currently climbing the airplay charts.
From catchy choruses to reflective strains, the recording captures some special moments for the avid Gospel music fan with a cover of the Bill and Gloria Gaither classics “I Just Feel Like Something Good Is About to Happen” and “I Will Serve Thee,” an easygoing version of “If I Can Help Somebody” and a re-make of the thought-provoking ballad “I Wish We’d All Been Ready,” which finds Connie delivering a heartfelt, earnest vocal alongside the family’s signature blends and emotional interpretations.
“We’ve found that what you sing doesn’t just have to line up with what you believe, it has to be your burden- your heart- as you sing it,” stated Dean.  “The Hoppers have definitely evolved musically over the past 55 years, but so has circumstance.  Count Me In is our representation of where we are now with a nod to where we’ve been and, most importantly, where we are going.  This album is such a monumental thing for us.”
The Hoppers are recent inductees into the Gospel Music Association’s (GMA’s) Hall of Fame, and they have just returned from The Singing News Fan Awards where Kim was awarded Favorite Soprano and Favorite Female Singer only a couple of weeks after being named Favorite Soprano at the first annual National Quartet Convention (NQC) Awards, held in Louisville, Ky.
The group enjoyed recent success with the release The Gaither Gospel Series: The Best of The Hoppers (Gaither Music Group).  The DVD soared to #2 on Billboard’s video chart while the CD entered the Billboard Heatseeker chart at #4. Additionally, the CD entered the Nielsen SoundScan southern gospel chart at #1 and the Contemporary Christian chart at #10.
The Hoppers maintain a heavy touring schedule, performing on the Gaither Homecoming video series, at the National Quartet Convention, at the Great Western Gospel Music Fan Festival, at the Cove and at Singing in the Sun in addition to around 150 solo dates annually.
Count Me In, distributed exclusively through EMI CMG Distribution, will be available at online outlets, including iTunes, and is currently available for pre-sale at Amazon.com and ChristianBook.com.  It will also be available in retail stores where Christian music is sold.  For further information regarding The Hoppers, please visit www.thehoppers.com.
Please visit www.Facebook.com/TheHoppersOfficial to view special behind-the-scenes videos from The Hoppers’ time in the studio, or visit them on Twitter: @CDeanHopper, @KarlyeHopper, @HoppersMusic.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.— Hymns for the Christian Life, the highly-anticipated fourth U.S. release from preeminent Irish modern hymn writers and recording artists Keith & Kristyn Getty, will bow October 9. Produced by Charlie Peacock (The Civil Wars, Switchfoot) and Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, Kari Jobe), the 12-song project explores such themes as work, family, money, community and social action, showcasing Irish melodies as well as American bluegrass and country music influences.

This original collection is highlighted by a special 10th anniversary recording of “In Christ Alone,” featuring 27-time GRAMMY® Award-winner Alison Krauss. Penned by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, the world-renowned modern hymn has been recorded by numerous artists over the past decade—including Owl City, Natalie Grant and Newsboys—and is a classic sung in churches around the globe.

In addition, bluegrass icon Ricky Skaggs joins the couple on “Simple Living (A Rich Young Man).” Written by Keith & Kristyn Getty and Stuart Townend, the song is based on the Bible story of the rich young ruler. Clannad’s Moya Brennan, one of Ireland’s most beloved recording artists, also contributes to Hymns for the Christian Life, singing a traditional Gaelic lullaby as part of “A Mother’s Prayer.” Keith & Kristyn Getty, along with Fionan de Barra (Broadway’s Riverdance), penned the piece for their young daughter, Eliza Joy.

“The concept for these songs began two years ago when we took a break from touring and settled in Nashville,” says Keith Getty. “Amid conversations with friends and coworkers around our dinner table and on our porch, we found ourselves discussing the challenges of the Christian life. We pondered ideas such as, ‘What does it mean to succeed in your job but not make it your god? How do I handle doubt? In what way should I pray for my children? What is our responsibility for the care of others inside and outside our community?’ We believe the Gospel story touches every part of life, so these new songs are a reflection of those conversations and us turning to the Gospel for guidance.”

“We hope Hymns for the Christian Life also reflects our continuing goal to write modern hymns for the Church,” adds Kristyn Getty. “What excites us most about the work we do is seeing a song used by a congregation and hoping it becomes part of the soundtrack that follows a believer through life.“

Keith & Kristyn Getty are among the preeminent modern hymn composers of this generation. Writers of an acclaimed repertoire of 21st century hymns revered both for their theologically astute lyrics and universally beloved melodies, the couple’s popular U.S. recordings include In Christ Alone, Awaken The Dawn and Joy – An Irish Christmas. They have shared their music at Franklin Graham crusades, the GMA Dove Awards, The Third Lausanne Conference on World Evangelization, as well as feature performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall and the legendary Grand Ole Opry, among many other noted platforms. Keith & Kristyn Getty, along with their band—an ensemble of some of the top names in Irish and American folk music—are in the midst of their Hymns for the Christian Life Tour, which is hitting multiple U.S. cities this fall.

Hymns for the Christian Life, a Getty Music release, will be distributed by EMI CMG Distribution. EMI CMG Distribution is the exclusive North American distributor of Getty Music products to all Christian and general market channels as well as the exclusive worldwide distributor to all digital channels.
