GUY PENROD JOINS ALL-STAR LINE-UP FOR WAITING FOR WISHES CELEBRITY WAITERS DINNER

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Gaither Music Group/Servant Records artist Guy Penrod joined an all-star roster from the worlds of sports, music and film for Kevin Carter’s 11th Annual Waiting for Wishes Celebrity Waiters Dinner, held recently at Nashville’s The Palm Restaurant.  Penrod and the celebrity wait staff served tables, signed autographs, received donations and interacted with guests at the sold-out event, which benefited The Kevin Carter Foundation and The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Middle Tennessee.

Hosted by former Tennessee Titans’ player and 14-year NFL veteran Kevin Carter and Jay DeMarcus of multi-platinum-selling country group Rascal Flatts, Waiting for Wishes featured celebrity waiters including Tennessee Titans’ quarterback Matt Hasselbeck; NFL greats Eddie George, Craig Hentrich, Derrick Mason, Brad Hopkins and Eric Winston; Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts; Kix Brooks of legendary country duo Brooks & Dunn; Olympic figure skating champion Scott Hamilton; John Rich of multi-platinum-selling country duo Big & Rich; Jamie Johnson of the award-winning bluegrass ensemble The Grascals; and Hollywood actor, writer, producer and director Johnathon Schaech, among others.

Kevin and Shima Carter created The Kevin Carter Foundation to enrich the lives of children, focusing on youth and character development.  The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Middle Tennessee grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  More than 1,000 wishes have been granted in Middle Tennessee since the chapter was founded in 2000.

Penrod’s latest recording, Hymns, debuted at #1 on Nielsen Soundscan’s Southern Gospel retail chart and #5 on the Current Contemporary Christian chart following its release in March.  His 2010 Dove Award-nominated release, Breathe Deep, continues to be a benchmark for country recordings within the Christian marketplace, featuring successful mainstream country and southern gospel radio singles.  A 2011 Texas Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductee, Penrod made his Grand Ole Opry debut last year.  Prior to his solo career, Penrod spent 14 years with the GRAMMY® and Dove Award-winning Gaither Vocal Band.

Hymns is distributed by EMI CMG Distribution and is available at retail and digital outlets worldwide, as well as Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores®.
