Rob Patz: New season, new vision

Written by Staff on May 24, 2019 – 4:08 pm -

Spring Publisher's Point by Rob Patz for SGNScoops Magazine May 2019

New season, new vision, new horizons

Publisher’s Point by Rob Patz for SGNScoops Magazine May 2019

I have always said I love this time of year. Everything is new. Flowers are blooming and the sun is out and the grass is growing. So it was fitting for me to make my latest announcement during this time of year. If you haven’t read it yet, I’m going to give you a brief synopsis with some of the story behind it.

Publisher's Point by Rob Patz for SGNScoops Magazine May 2019

Rob Patz of Coastal Media

As many of you know who follow me on social media I am blessed with the opportunity to be able to travel quite often. In fact, over the last two years I have averaged 115 days on the road and during that time I’ve met so many wonderful people and so many new artists I’m excited about where this industry is going.

Lou and Howard Hildreth join the Creekside Gospel Music Convention choir

This story all begins eight years ago when we launched an event called Creekside. We believed it was going to be a place not only for the Diamond Awards but a place to highlight many of your favorite artists. We learned during that time that there were many new artists coming along that you, our readers, needed to know about, and that helped shape our focus here at the magazine.

I’m excited to tell you that over the next two years, our company will be launching convention-style events in 12 states. It will be a large undertaking, one that cannot be done by just a few people. I’m excited to say God has assembled a great team of people. Do we have everybody we need? No, but we have the core.

Publisher's Point by Rob Patz for SGNScoops Magazine May 2019

May 2019 SGNScoops Magazine

Four years ago God gave me this vision and at the time I didn’t see how it could ever be accomplished. In fact, I talked about it a lot and then, like most of us do, I parked what I believe was my idea. God kept reminding me of it and early this year, during a time of prayer, God clearly told me I needed to move.

I believe we are at an exciting time in our industry as we watch new growth with new artists. I truly believe that growth will happen at the grassroots; at the church down the street, at the high school in the next town over. I believe that as you read this if you are an artist, you’re part of this movement. If you are a fan, you’re part of this movement. if you’re a pastor who loves this music, you’re a part of this movement. I need you, I need your help, whether that is through prayer or through volunteer help. I need you. I can’t do this move without you.

If you didn’t get a chance to read the press release, another exciting part of this is the acquisition of the Gospel Music Expo in Tupelo, Mississippi. I want you to be a part of this event, next year in April. It’s going to be incredible and we are excited to be able to offer this event to our family.

As you read this, I ask that you will pray for me and my entire staff as we move forward.

Registered “Radio 101” Class To Be Offered at Creekside

Written by scoopsnews on May 10, 2019 – 4:35 pm -

How can I get my song on the radio?

This is an indirect question — it sounds like an easy question , and on the surface, there is a straightforward answer.

To get your song played on the radio, either you or your Radio Promotion Company approaches program directors/music directors at radio stations, promotes your song to them using a combination of phone calls and faxes, press releases, and emails. Then the stations that are interested in the song will play it and the ones that aren’t won’t. Sounds pretty easy, right?

The truth is that radio promotion is anything but easy.

Tiffany Noecker from Daywind, Vonda Armstrong from Hey Y’all Media, and Richard Hyssong from Premier Promotions will be teaching “Radio 101”  for groups that have a song at radio or are considering Radio Promotion in the future.

This class will be available at Creekside Gospel Music Convention 2019 on Monday, October 28th at 2:00 pm at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center In the main hall.

Fee: $25 per person

Pine Ridge Boys Will Recording First Live DVD At Creekside 2019

Written by Staff on April 4, 2019 – 9:18 am -

Meet the Pine Ridge Boys Again For the First Time

Pine Ridge Boys

The 2019 Creekside Gospel Music Convention is now in its eighth year at Pigeon Forge, Tenn., held Oct. 27 – 31.  On Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, the Pine Ridge Boys and Chordsmen Quartet will be kicking it off in style, as the Pine Ridge Boys will be recording their first live CD and DVD during the Sunday night concert.

Mark Cash with Larry Stewart. Pine Ridge Boys

Mark Cash with Larry Stewart

“Recording a live project is something my Dad wanted to do, but never did,” said Larry Stewart of the Pine Ridge Boys, which were founded in 1963. “The group never recorded a concert (to be released) to the public all these many years. So, when Classic Artists Records began discussing the possibility of a live recording, everything just seemed right. The project will honor Jim Stewart (my Dad), Wayne Shuford, Miles Cooper, Charles Burke, Darius Shuford and all Pine Ridge Boys members over the years.”

Charlie Griffin

Classic Artists Records’ Charlie Griffin stated, “The interaction between concert goers and the Pine Ridge Boys is personal. Their concerts are filled with positive songs and energy, touched with laughter and words of encouragement. That relationship can only be captured on a live recording. We feel the Pine Ridge Boys are able to share that excitement every time they take the stage, whether church or a concert venue.”

Rob Patz

Rob Patz

“I’m so excited that the Pine Ridge Boys have chosen to shoot a live video at our Creekside Kick-off concert,” says Rob Patz, owner of Creekside Gospel Music Convention. “It’s their very first live DVD and an event not to be missed. Larry and the guys have stood with us since the first Creekside convention in 2012, and we are thrilled to be their venue for this historic event.”

Ken and Jean Grady

Classic Artists Records and the Pine Ridge Boys are collaborating with Gospel Music Today for the recording. “We are looking forward to working with one of our favorite quartets at one of our favorite gospel music events: Creekside Gospel Music Convention,” Gospel Music Today’s Ken Grady stated. “Opening night always draws a great and enthusiastic crowd and we are looking forward to this night and project.” Wise Choice Promotions, led by president Lori Wise, will be handling all audio interactions with conventional radio, satellite, internet, podcasts and pay on demand medium.

Creekside, Where Family & Faith Come Together

Written by scoopsnews on April 1, 2019 – 8:42 am -

Creekside Gospel Music Convention is a convention like no other. The folks pictured above are the core of making this event possible.

They came, they participated, and they got the t-shirt to prove it!

Here’s what a few folks are saying about Creekside 2019:

Ricky Carden, Down East Boys said “I am excited to be a part of Creekside 2019.”  “I have watched this event grow over the past few years and am honored to be included in the great list of artists!”

Richard Hyssong , Hyssong notes, “We are looking forward to returning to Creekside 2019. Our family will be singing our radio hits along with playing our brass instruments. We look forward to seeing old friends and meeting many new ones as well.”

Rob Patz and Richard Hyssong of the Hyssongs

Rob Patz and Richard Hyssong of the Hyssongs

And finally, Rob Patz, owner of Creekside Gospel Music Convention adds, as I was writing this, I begin to think of what all went into the planning process of the first year of Creekside; how unprepared I really was and how awesome God was to step in and bring people of value from day one who would help with everything from seating the people to arranging the midnight prayer time.
So today, I want to share with you my heart. I want to tell you a little bit about what I hope you experience this year when you come and visit us for Creekside 2019.

I want you to experience the friendships that are cultivated during this time. You’re going to get the opportunity to meet new artists and new fans; people that you may never have heard of before. My prayer is that the time you leave this week they will be like old friends.

I hope you enjoy the experience of listening to new music and hearing new speakers. I hope above all that during the time we’re together for four and a half days, that we point you in the direction of Christ. We can spend an entire year planning an event, but that event will fall short if we don’t point you to Christ and a personal relationship with him.

During the next few weeks, you will see items on social media about everything that we are doing as we prepare. In my head, I began counting down the days several months ago. I’m ready to see what God has in store. I believe there is going to be a move of God and I hope to see you there!

Creekside 2019 will be held in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., Oct. 27 – 31. The event features the 2019 Diamond Awards, daily showcases and evening concerts, Christian Country at The Creek, and Midnight Prayer. For more information on lodging, VIP tickets, and convention details, contact Rob Patz at rob@sgnscoops.com, or at 360-933-0741. For news and event updates, click on the Creekside Facebook page.
