Hey Pastor Darryle Wilson, What is The Message?

Written by scoopsnews on December 28, 2018 – 4:20 pm -

We are all about to be handed something very special , a “brand, spanking-new” New Year. What we do with it is really up to us.

Many churches are preparing for their New Years services. We asked a few pastors what they believe the message for 2019 is.

Here is what Darryle Wilson, Paster at Central Baptist in Jasper, Alabama had to say. You may also recognize Darryle from the Award winning Bluegrass Group, Eagle’s Wings.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6

In a world that is confused and questioning all aspects of religion, we at Central Baptist Church in Jasper, AL, stand firm on God’s Word and especially on the words of the Lord Jesus, Himself.  He erases all doubt as to how to get to Heaven; you must trust in, have faith in, and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your only Savior.

   All else fails.

In the new year, 2019, may the name of Jesus be exalted above all, so that the lost can be saved, and saints encouraged.

Join us each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and each Wednesday at 7:00.

We are located at

900 Airport Road South

Jasper, AL.

Thank you brother Darryle for sharing with us at SGN Scoops!

Vernon Alabama’s Gospel Music Weekend: Where is Vernon?

McKay Project to appear at Vernon Alabama's Southern Gospel Weekend

McKay Project to appear at Vernon Alabama’s Gospel Music Weekend

Through social media, folks have seen the fun we have at Vernon Alabama’s Gospel Music Weekend, and they say, “Hey, I want to come to Vernon.”

However, then, they follow it up with, “Where is Vernon?” I just have to laugh.

Every time I describe where Vernon is located, I always find myself thinking about the things I have come to love about Vernon. It is a wonderful town with southern charm and a down-home feeling of community that is just part of the South. It is the kind of town where everyone is your neighbor. It’s the kind of town that is perfect for an event like Vernon Alabama’s Gospel Music Weekend, which will be held from Sept. 8-9. We are excited to host more than 20 Gospel artists from across the country for two days of great concerts, fun, and fellowship that can only be found in a community like Vernon. It’s like magic.

Vernon is steeped in history, and I did a little checking to see just how far back the city of Vernon goes. Vernon is the county seat of Lamar County, but the county hasn’t always been called Lamar. It started out as Jones County and was abolished in 1867. Then, in 1868, it was established again as Sanford County, but that was done away with. Finally, in 1877, the county was named Lamar County. Just like the county, Vernon wasn’t always the name of the town. It started out as Swayne but was changed to Vernon in 1868 in honor of Edmond Vernon, who also served as the first mayor. I found copies of old newspapers online with news and happenings for Vernon, and it has always been a thriving town with lots of life.

WORDS OF COMFORT FROM NATIONAL RECORDING ARTIST AND BIRMINGHAM-BASED RUSH OF FOOLS ON THE DESTRUCTION OF LAST WEEK’S ALABAMA TORNADOES

Written by Scoops Staff on May 2, 2011 – 8:42 am -

(Birmingham, AL) April 28, 2011 —– Yesterday we have experienced a great and horrific tragedy as a community, as a city, and as a state. The death tolls for the greater Birmingham area are still unknown, but are rising by the hour. Families are left with nothing but each other, if even that. What do we, as a band, say to this?

Whether we see our days as good or bad, our lives and things as gain or loss, our God is sovereign. He is sovereign over ALL things, not just happy things. Throughout the story of Scripture, we see God causing and calming storms, destruction, chaos. This is where theology is difficult to swallow. God is NOT the Red Cross. He’s GOD. We are praying that our city would be comforted this day by the words found in Psalm 148:7-8…

“Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creature and all deeps, fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling HIS word!”

As a band, which calls the beautiful city of Birmingham home, we mourn today with and for the many who have suffered tremendous loss. Our prayers go out to those who are looking at what used to be their home or local business, which is now just pile of debris. Our sadness sits with those who have talked to a loved one for the last time. Our peace, which surpasses our own understanding, rests in a Holy God that loves and cares for His children.

In the coming days, we will be working diligently with our own faith family (www.christcitychurch.org) to be just a small part of all that God will do in the coming weeks to draw men unto Himself in and around Birmingham. With great suffering, we always see great Kingdom impact. As one of the elders of our church, please know that email chains have already been started to figure out how we can best serve our city for the glory of God. Please remember, our God is sovereign. It will help you shut your eyes tonight, knowing that if He wills it, your heart will continue beating without you even knowing it. We love you Birmingham.

-Kevin Huguley and Rush Of Fools
