New Speer Family Revives and Refreshes Iconic Songs on A Singing Heritage Debut Release Available Now
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 30, 2018) – The New Speer Family is proud to release their debut recording, A Singing Heritage, available now at as well as digital outlets.
“Let the song go on,” was a phrase G.T. “Dad” Speer would say during a concert after stopping a song to testify about God’s goodness in his life. His frequent testimonies were a testament to his Christian faith. Now, for the first time since the Speers retirement in 1998, the signature songs of the Speer Family are once again being heard.

The son of Brock and Faye Speer, Brian, and his wife Allison, are joined by industry veteran Mike Allen and exciting newcomer, Ben Waites, to form the New Speer Family and the aptly titled project, “A Singing Heritage,” is their first release.

“When the Speers retired at the National Quartet Convention in 1998, it was a hard time for us because not only were the voices retiring, but I felt that the songs were going away, too,” says Brian. “For some time, Allison and I have been talking about how fun it would be to bring those songs back with a fresh sound, reviving them for those long time Speer Family fans and making them relevant to a new generation of listeners.”

“A Singing Heritage” features the iconic and time-tested songs from the legendary family, including: “Heaven’s Jubilee,” “He Is Mine and I Am His,” “Old Gospel Ship,” “The King is Coming,” and many more.
The Speer Family was formed in 1921 with G.T. “Dad” Speer, his wife Lena “Mom,” dad’s sister Pearl and her husband Logan Claborn. A Speer singing group travelled continually from that time until their retirement in 1998. In addition to family members, many “adopted” Speers were part of the group through the years.
Allison says, “I have always wanted to sing with a group. The thought of being a part of the New Speer Family is beyond my wildest dream. Our goal is to praise God with old Speer songs that still remain as classics. We are looking forward to having a blast with those who were touched by the original Speer Family. We’re so excited and honored to revive this music again!”

The New Speer Family is booked by Scott Caldwell at The Caldwell Agency, 615.436.0469,,

Song Garden Music Group is thrilled to announce the signing of Allison Speer to the Garden!

Allison is an incredible talent with a rich history in gospel music.  Born in Kentucky, her first exposure to gospel music came at an Imperials concert.  That concert inspired her and started her on an incredible journey in gospel music.

She has shared the gospel everywhere from mega-churches such as First Baptist Atlanta, The Brooklyn Tabernacle, First Baptist Orlando, to small rural churches around the world.  She has been a featured artist for many Bible Study cruises with Dr. Charles Stanley and D. James Kennedy.

She has toured with The Gaither Vocal Band, The Gaither Trio, Mark Lowery, and Wayne Watson just to name a few.  She has been a guest soloist at the National Southern Baptist Convention, the Nazarene General Assembly, and numerous Praise Gatherings and Family Fest events hosted by Bill Gaither.

Allison had this to say about entering “The Garden”!

When I met the owners of Song Garden, Dale, Lynn, and Marilyn Keffer, I realized that we had a deep spiritual connection and purpose for making new disciples in Christ. I’m proud to work side by side with Gus Gaches and the Keffers, Godly people who are led by Christ.
Gus Gaches, Director of Song Garden Music Group states, “We are thrilled to have Allison joining us.  Her talents are incredible, her personality is infectious, and her heart is contagious!  She has an incredible desire to share the message of Christ in any and every way possible, and we love that about her.  I am honored to be working with both Allison and her husband Brian, and look forward to the many things God has in store for her their ministry.

Allison Speer And Ray Stevens

Allison Speer And Ray Stevens

Nashville, TN – GRAMMY Award-winning musician Ray Stevens has recorded a song co-written by Gaither Homecoming artist, Allison Speer. “The Baptism Of Stumpy Brown,” originally released on Allison’s Whoo-Hoo, What A Ride! comedy DVD, was written with Cyrus “Buddy” Kalb, a staff writer for Ray Stevens Music. Kalb is a renowned songwriter best known for Ray Stevens hit, “Mississippi Squirrel Revival.”

Allison comments, “Having a song recorded by Mr. Stevens is a dream come true. As a kid, I remember listening to his music and memorizing all of the words. I’m thrilled by this news!” She added, “The song idea came about as I sat in a baptismal service and wondered about someone leaving more of his old man behind in the water than he intended. Buddy took the idea and ran with it!”

Ray Stevens will perform “The Baptism Of Stumpy Brown” on his new project, Here We Go Again, which will release on his Player label in mid-February, and will be distributed by Sony music.

Allison Speer has released a new single entitled “She’s Better Now.” Co-written with Dove award winner, Joel Lindsey, the song honors Allison’s grandmother, Alice Powell, and Joel’s mother, Reba Lindsey, both in now Heaven. Allison has been singing for 26 years and is a regular artist on the Gaither Homecoming videos and concerts.

Allison says, “Joel and I got together to write in 2013 at an office in Nashville. He was fondly speaking about his mother and how she had been gone seven years and how he missed her. He said he had recently seen a friend who had asked about her, and the first thing that came out of his mouth as an answer was, ‘she’s better now.’ I gasped when he said that. I did not beg him to let me co-write the idea but it came pretty close. We spoke for most of the afternoon about his mom and my grandmother, and this song was born in that writing session.”
“She’s Better Now” was featured in the 2013 Gaither video release, “Women Of Homecoming.” Allison has released a video of the song that can be viewed at For more information, contact Brian Speer at 615.331.0900 or at

Appropriately, Melanie Walker opened the show with a flawless performance of her upbeat, hand-clapping song, “Walking In Jerusalem”.
The Fox Brothers were the hosts of the show and kept the show moving with introductions of performers and presenters by means of their own brand of humor and wit.  They garnered three awards including the Gospel Entertainer Of The Year, Vocal Group Of The Year, and the Christian Country Crown Jewel Award.  Group member and funnyman, Roy Fox received the Comedian Of The Year award.  The Fox Brothers closed the show with their popular rendition of an American patriotic favorite, “God Bless The USA”.
Members of the popular southern gospel singing group, The Gardners accepted three awards including the Song Of The Year accolades for their song “Sign Me Up”. They also received the Southern Gospel Crown Jewel Award. Group member Regina Gardner was the recipient of the coveted Female Vocalist Of The Year Award.
One emotional highlight of the show was the awarding of the organization’s most prestigious honor, The Diamond Award to USAGEM’s past president and Pearly Gates members, Daniel and Teresa Johnson.  This award is a lifetime achievement honor presented to USAGEM members who show a great commitment to God, Christian service, and dedication to USAGEM.  A further emotional highlight was the presentation of the Sapphire Award to Don Inks for his behind the scenes work and devotion to the USAGEM organization.  Don is the husband and manager of Christian country artist, Peggy Inks. The Emerald Award was presented to Kent Smith Family member and founder, Kent Smith; and the Ruby Award went to television producer and radio host, Tommie Lewis.
The Male Vocalist Of The Year Award was presented to one of the organization’s perennial favorites, Rene Jones.  He and his wife, Edie Jones presented an impeccable performance of their brand new Christian Country chart single, “Bible By Her Bed”.
Danny Jones did a superb performance of his self-penned song “Dream Giver”, a song featured in the upcoming faith-based movie “Secrets In The Snow”.  Jones also garnered the Contemporary Christian Crown Jewel Award, his very first USAGEM trophy.
Newcomer, Russ Murphy had the enthusiastic crowd on their feet as he performed his hit single and patriotic song “My America” and comedian nominee Cheryl Jackson performed a very impressive stand-up comedy routine which had everyone laughing with her side-splitting, hilarious wit.

More performance highlights included several featured special performances.  New Artist nominees Allison Speer, Mark Brown, David Smith, Paul Sparks, Sunday Edition, and The Davis Family received a standing ovation for their moving and powerful performance of “Because He Lives”, a song made famous by the legendary Speer Family.  Song Of The Year nominees Glenn Tubb, The Pearly Gates, Tank Tackett, Joe Arview and Thunder, and The Gardners each proudly and flawlessly performed a portion of their top five nominated songs.  Musician nominees Shelton Bissell, Jim Frable, John Rees, and Jay Shupe performed an upbeat “I’ll Fly Away” while young USAGEM members Summer & Autumn Ryan performed their clogging routine, a bonus delight to audience members.
