IMC Management Announces Plans For 2015 Christmas Jubilee Tour

Written by Staff on August 20, 2015 – 1:52 pm -

Jubilee Christmas 2015

Jubilee Christmas 2015

Johnson City, TN – Following three straight years of tremendous success, IMC Management has announced plans for the 2015 Christmas Jubilee Tour. The Jubilee Tour features three of Southern Gospel Music’s most recognized artists, The Booth Brothers, Greater Vision and Legacy Five. The 2015 Christmas Jubilee Tour will begin November 30 and feature 15 concerts, with stops for the first time is such Canadian provinces as Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. It has been two years since the Jubilee Christmas Tour made stops along the West Coast, and this year the event will return to Idaho, Washington, Oregon and California.

What began as a light-hearted lunch conversation between three friends, has become one of the most popular concert tours in Gospel Music. Managed and promoted exclusively by IMC Management, The Jubilee Tour brings three of the most popular names in Southern Gospel Music together for a unique and unforgettable concert experience. The event has proven to be very popular in cities across the North America, with sell-out concert attendance in numerous cities in recent years.
The evening allows each group to be featured during the first half of the program, then the second half brings the three groups together for a Jubilee spectacular filled with Christmas classics.  The unscripted and spontaneous format is both entertaining and inspirational, providing audiences with a most enjoyable, must-see evening.
The Jubilee Christmas Tour concerts feature material from the multiple Christmas Jubilee recordings and have delighted crowds throughout the Holiday season. Since that first year in 2012 when the Tour first kicked off, The Booth Brothers, Greater Vision and Legacy Five have been uniting to bring Christmas cheer to Gospel music lovers throughout North America. This year promises to bring more Holiday cheer.
“We are very excited to take the Christmas Jubilee Tour into new territories and  back to the West Coast,” IMC President Landon Beene states. “In 2013, the Tour enjoyed multiple sold out events, which was a first for Southern Gospel Music in nearly a decade, so we know Gospel Music lovers on the West Coast will be excited that the Christmas Jubilee Tour is returning.”
IMC will partner with successful Canadian promoters, Wayne Dyck, Bill Griffin and Don Miller to bring the Christmas Jubilee Tour to Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia for the very first time.  “Western Canada’s Gospel Music fans are enjoying the growth of Quartet style, harmony driven music often referred to as Southern Gospel,” Canada’s Gospel Music Celebration, Inc President, Wayne Dyck, states. “Blooming Canadian groups and fans are encouraging full-time Gospel groups to come to Canada with their music, and we are delighted to play a part in bringing this very powerful Christmas presentation, featuring solid, traditional Christmas centered music to Western Canada. A full production presentation brings the rich meaning of Christmas with lighter moments and powerful traditional music, which is absolutely what this season of the year is all about. We are blessed and delighted to have this meaningful Christmas concert series come our way to give the Christmas season a strong presence in the Christians’ calendar.”
The Western Canadian Jubilee Christmas Tour will be featured on December 1 in Winnipeg, MB, December 2 in Regina SK, December 3 in Saskatoon SK, December 4in Edmonton, AB, December 5 in Calgary, AB and December 9 in Chilliwack, BC.
Tickets will go on sale for all US Dates beginning September 14, with a exclusive pre-sale to IMC and artists email subscribers on August 27.  Canadian dates are ON SALE NOW! Home For The Holidays with the Mark Trammell Quartet and the Whisnants

The Whisnants and the Mark Trammell Quartet

By Lynn Mills

Though the holiday season is quickly passing, the spirit of Christmas resides in the hearts of those who believe the wondrous story and live to share its joy. Looking back on the weeks leading up to the Christmas season there are numerous concerts each year where your favorite carols are sung by your favorite artists. Though it’s true that many groups reserve the majority of December for Christmas vacation; it is becoming more popular for a few groups to team up with their friends and hit the road at the beginning of the month for a special Christmas tour. For the winter of 2014, another pairing was added to the roster of SGM Christmas tours, hailing by the name of Home For Christmas; featuring the Mark Trammell Quartet and The Whisnants.

Home For Christmas was first introduced to fans in late October when the pre-sale for the Home For Christmas CD was put on the market. This project brought together The Whisnants and The Mark Trammell Quartet (MTQ) in a combination of 12 Christmas songs both old and new that showcased both groups on one recording. At the beginning of November, MTQ and the Whisnants hosted an online Launch Party over the course of 12 hours on Facebook where they shared Christmas memories, traditions and personal thoughts concerning the songs on the new Christmas project via videos, photos and posts from both group’s members. Shortly after Thanksgiving, they hit the road and performed their very first official tour together!

The Branson Belle

The Branson Belle

The inaugural concert occurred on the Showboat Branson Belle as a part of the Carols On The Belle Series. It was a balmy 70 degrees out in Branson, Missouri! But more than that, the folks that came on board filled the Showboat to capacity; the first Home For Christmas concert was sold out! When the Mark Trammell Quartet and Whisnants took the stage everyone gathered around for their opening tunes, “The Faithful Medley,” and “Unspeakable Joy.” After a few words from Susan, Jeff and Mark, the Whisnants sang a few of their contributions to the CD: “Without Christ There’s No Christmas,” and a ballad, “I Call Him Lord.” The Mark Trammell Quartet came up and gave the crowd a little variety in musical taste; they sang their hillbilly tune, “O Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem” and the more refined arrangement of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.”

_DSC2099

Susan Whisnant

The Whisnants, who had been listening to MTQ sing from where they were seated on black stools, returned to the spotlight to sing their new upbeat tune, “Jesus Brought Joy To The World.” Mark Trammell also explained to the audience why they sing.

It is worthy to note the diversity of the crowd on the Showboat – a bus from Michigan brought a good amount of Asian folk, many Indian couples were present and others who came for the classic Branson tour and sightseeing staples. The crowd, therefore, was not made of your typical Southern Gospel fans, so an explanation was due!

Mark also shared about being raised in a pastor’s home and how one would expect his mother’s favorite Christmas song to be a traditional carol…but it wasn’t. It was the classic “Christmas Song. Mark went on to croon the first few lines from this well-known song. While he was doing his best impression of Perry Como, the others were doing their best to steal the spotlight. This came about in the form of Santa hats, which were distributed in a quiet fashion to all the group members seated behind Mark. Susan decided to share and plopped her hat, complete with tiara, on Mark’s head. After a bit of waltzing and other comical antics from those who were obviously bored with Mark singing his solo, Trammell gave up and sang, “I’m gonna’ kill them when this is over…!”

Mark Trammell

Mark Trammell

From those humorous moments, the singers moved to a sincere reading of the Christmas story in Luke. Mark turned the pages of his black leather Bible to the second chapter and told of how the Savior came to be born in this world. “Silent Night,” followed this. Susan, the only lady on stage, sang this carol from the viewpoint of a mother. Afterwards, she asked the audience to sing “Away In A Manger,” with her. A sweet sound echoed through the boat.

As the evening came to a close, Mark Trammell had the crowd on the edge of their seat by a powerful arrangement of “O Holy Night.” An equally powerful message followed as Susan introduced her solo, “If You Could See What I See,” and the thought behind the message.

_DSC1923“People come up to me all the time,” Susan began, “They say, ‘I love Christmas, but it’s a lonely time for me; I lost my husband, I lost my wife, I lost my kid, I lost my mom…it’s lonely’.” She went on to say that in 2013 on December the 23rd her father-in-law went home to heaven. “A lot of people felt sorry for us,” she went on, “But we had a friend who wrote this song and sent it to us on Christmas Eve. If God gave us one glimpse into heaven, we would never wish them back.” Susan sang that comforting message and prayed. As the Showboat came back into dock MTQ and the Whisnants left everyone with this tune: “Christmas Time’s A Comin’!”

MTQ-Whisnants-LaunchThe next night, the Home For Christmas Tour went to Arkansas where they sang a full concert at Beryl Baptist Church. Though this wasn’t the last stop on the tour, this is where my ability to follow ended. The difference between the Showboat and this concert was that they had more time at the church and material was added. One of those additions was a fun performance of “The 12 Days of Christmas.” Susan and Mark beckoned 12 volunteers from the audience (the pastor, who is an accomplished bass vocalist, being one of them) and soon a line formed at the foot of the stage. Aaron Hise and Nick Trammell distributed cards with each part written on them and the fun began! It would be impossible to re-tell everything that made us laugh – but we had a great time! Another highlight of the evening was Austin Whisnant singing a song Susan originally recorded, called “Even Then,” and Ethan’s solo of “Strange Way To Save The World.”

“Home For Christmas” is a must see for fans who love Christmas music. It is impossible to miss the sincerity of those ministering on stage. Nothing is scripted – it’s all from the heart. Whether the moment is funny, reflective or serious, the heart behind it shines through. This is Christmas. This is the way we think of the holiday when we close our eyes and picture a homey, old-fashioned Christmas tree set in the midst of children at play and Christ where He ought to be: in the center of it all. Home For Christmas offers songs you want to hear, the new ones you’ll be humming after you hear them the first time, the singers you love and the sincerity of the Christmas story, all creating memories you won’t easily forget!

CD Review: Steve Ladd ‘A Christmas Hymn’

Written by Staff on December 4, 2014 – 2:13 pm -

steve ladd christmas coverLeonardo Da Vinci once said “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”1. That quote was the first thing that came to mind when I played this new album of Christmas songs.  Pair a virtuoso pianist with an exceptional singer and you get sophistication. Steve Ladd is that exceptional singer, and the Gaither Vocal Band’s piano player Matthew Holt is that virtuoso! Holt arranged every song on this album. The recording was produced by Ladd and Steve Allen.

The album starts out with ‘Angels We Have Heard On High’ and the piano introduction is so wonderful, tasteful and to the point. When Steve Ladd joins the already great music, it instantaneously becomes stellar. Just Steve with a piano….is heavenly! What a voice this wonderful brother has. Matthew Holt’s piano playing reminds me of John Pantry’s piano playing….very nice!

My favorite Christmas song is next ‘O Come, O Come Emmanuel.’ Again just that voice and those ivories. Christmas songs are the ultimate opportunity for group singing, for harmonizing, and the melodies lend themselves to all that, and of course the ‘together‘ oriented holiday attributes to that feeling. Not once throughout the album have I noticed the absence of background vocals; not once. Steve’s voice has such clarity and the semblance of innocence. Such a pristine tone that he doesn’t need any other singers.

El’ is the Hebrew word for God and ‘No‘ means birth, NO-EL….birth God. ‘The First Noel;’ what an awesome tune this is. In its current form, it is of Cornish origin, and it was first published in 1823. It is usually performed in a four-part hymn arrangement by the English composer John Stainer, first published in his Carols, New and Old in 1871. Steve totally nails this magnificent song.

An album with the title ‘A Christmas Hymn’ could not be considered complete without ‘Silent Night.’ To me Gold City’s version of this evergreen was the best ever! And in a group setting they still are the best, but as a solo this position goes to Steve Ladd! Wonderful playing and singing, can’t say it enough, you will have to listen for yourself. Like Walt Whitman said; “simplicity is the glory of expression”….my writing is anything but simple,  and therefore can not accurately express the brilliance of this recording.

‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman’ opens with a ridiculously good piano intro. Wow, this is the best I’ve heard Matthew Holt play! This song was never my favorite, I could stand The Cathedral Quartet singing it, but all other renditions I usually skipped. The credits for this rendition’s captivating quality goes to Holt!

Next is another personal favorite Christmas tune. Again Gold City held the favorite spot for nearly twenty years (that’s when I first heard their rendition), and now there’s Steve Ladd knocking ‘Away in a Manger’ out of the park. It’s all about the respect for the original melody. And the lyrics are so easily understood due to Ladd’s great diction. Tasteful and accurate piano playing embraces the voice, this isn’t just great accompanying, this is the song; it’s not about the guys anymore. It’s inexpressible. And the inexpressible which  can only be expressed by two things: music, or silence!

Steve Ladd

Steve Ladd

‘What Child is This? Composer William Chatterton Dix was an insurance salesman. At age 29, he was bedridden for months due to a near fatal illness. During this trying time Dix began to write hymns. The most memorable of his songs is “What Child is This?” Beautiful song set to the melody of an old English folksong. This rendition is truly one of the best I ever heard!

‘It Came Upon a Midnight Clear’ again a treasure to my tiny Christmas music collection. I only enjoyed a few Christmas albums. Here’s that shortlist: Gold City (Parker/Free era), Elvis (with Imperials), The Imperials (Taff era), Harry Connick Jr.. And now Steve Ladd is added.  It is getting boring, I know, but I’m excited by this album!

What a joy this album is! Brought joy to my world, a world that can use some. ‘Joy to the World.’  Steve Ladd is a singer, his voice never is boring, he’s one of those tenors that you can listen to all day! There’s not many that I can stand listening to for the length of an entire album!

Knowing Steve personally I can sense the integrity and love this guy has for music, singing and his fellow-man. I know he is the real deal! That sincerity is reflected by his pure voice. He lives by a simple standard, he loves his Lord, and lives that to the fullest! If one quote is fitting for this album, artist Leo Tolstoy said it best:  “There is no greatness where there is no simplicity, goodness and truth.”2

Steve Ladd Releases New Christmas CD

Written by Staff on November 7, 2014 – 10:04 am -

steve ladd christmas coverNashville, TN (October 30, 2014) Phenomenal Gospel recording artist, Steve Ladd, fresh from his California tour with Michael English, is releasing a new Christmas CD – A Christmas Hymn.

It’s been a while since a solo Christmas project has generated this much excitement. The album will be available on both iTunes and Amazon for sale on Tuesday, November 18th and pre-order for the two are already underway. If you pre-order on iTunes you will also get an instant download of “What Child Is This”.

Steve Ladd commented, “There are no songs about Santa Clause, Rudolph, or Frosty. The whole album is full of Hymns ALL about Christ’s’ birth. My albums normally have heavy productions, background singing and you name it, but this is very intimate. Just my voice and piano, recorded with Gaither Vocal Band pianist Matthew Holt. My family is getting back to basics for this Christmas season and away from the constant commercialization of what we make the day more about. This album reflects that. It’s a simple album, but has a lot of passion in it. I think my fans will appreciate it.”

About Steve Ladd
Ladd’s newest project On My Own was produced by award winning co-producers Michael Sykes and Michael English, and is a power-house of music for all tastes. And although the last few years Ladd has been nominated for “New Artist of the Year”, has had two Top 40 Singles, toured with Gaither Vocal Band member Michael English and is featured with the Stamps Quartet on Alan Jackson’s newest “Precious Memories” CD, he feels most used when working with Candy Christmas’ Bridge Ministry to the Homeless on Tuesday nights in the Nashville area. Steve, his wife and two children are also ministry partners with Compassion International.

While the beginning of an extraordinary journey started with his family, evolved into being an integral part of some of the most award-winning Christian ensembles, the last few years as a solo artist have proven the Lord’s faithfulness in his family, his ministry, and his life. And although there is a team of support, partners and prayers behind Ladd and his ministry, he is very thankful to walk where the Spirit leads, “On His Own”.

Donna King’s Debut Solo Christmas Album, SONG OF NOEL, To Be Spotlighted, This Weekend, On The Gospel Greats

Written by SGN Scoops on December 13, 2013 – 8:49 am -

kbku_DonnaKingSongOfNoelAlbumCoverNashville, TN (12/13/2013) – Donna King, best known for her years as powerhouse vocalist with Hope’s Call and her behind the scenes production, songwriting, and marketing work in Gospel Music has released her first solo project.  The new album is a Christmas recording and will be spotlighted on this week’s edition of THE GOSPEL GREATS hosted by Paul Heil.

The album, SONG OF NOEL, features some of Donna’s favorite classic Christmas songs, along with some original songs, many of which she wrote with her husband Zane and another co-writer, Rachel Morgan Perry.  The album also includes a soon to be classic Christmas song, written by Joel Lindsey and Matthew Garinger entitled “GIVE ME THIS NIGHT.”

In addition to the Christmas project, Donna is sharing music and ministry with her husband, Zane.  Their last single to radio, “Hallelujah, Jesus Saves,” made a HUGE splash on the radio airwaves, quickly rising to the TOP 15 songs on the monthly Singing News charts and coming in at number 3 on their weekly chart. Their newest single, “Shine,” is showing the same energy as it recently landed in the TOP 10 new releases across the country on the Singing New’s new release chart.

“For many years, during my haitus from recording and traveling in ministry, I found tremendous gratification in helping other artists to make music and expand their horizons in ministry,” expresses Donna.  She continues,”I still absolutely LOVE that and I continue to walk gratefully with artists, in the making of their albums, as a producer, and in helping them to get their songs to radio, so the world can hear the gifts GOD has given them.  To be honest, I had resolved that this was my role and singing was over for me,  but GOD never let the tug leave my heart.  Truly, when I look back over the last several years, I can see how He graciously mapped out and executed HIS plans for my life. To be back in the studio, recording music for this Christmas record, and, with my husband, Zane, leaves me with so much gratitude, I cannot even begin to explain it.  I am loving being back out on the road again. Thank you to my many friends and colleagues who have offered encouragement and continue to believe in my calling.”

You can listen to this week’s edition of the Gospel Greats, throughout the weekend, on radio stations around the world and on Sirius XM’s Enlighten.  To find a station and time that suits your schedule, visit thegospelgreats.com.

Coming from the North East part of the country the CD shows some beautiful scenes of Christmas time in the area. This CD sounds good and looks good. For radio stations looking for good Christmas classics and Hymns this CD is a no brainer.
