SGNScoops Fast Five with The Mark Dubbeld Family

SGNScoops Fast Five with The Mark Dubbeld Family

Recently, we asked The Mark Dubbeld Family five questions. We call it the SGNScoops FAST FIVE.

What should you know about this Family who are appearing on Gospel Music charts across the country?

They are Nashville Recording Artists, touring across the Nation with over 175 appearance, and were featured artists at National Quartet Convention from 2013 through 2016. They have been the Spotlight Artist on the Gospel Greats as well as having their music played on XM radio.

The Mark Dubbeld Family is celebrating their five year anniversary in 2016. Some of their Top 40 songs you may recognize include: “Nothing But Praise,” “The Reward,” “Inside The Gate,” “Higher Than I,” and “A Little Bit Better.”

Here are the questions and answers. We hope you enjoy learning more about this talented family.

SGNScoops Fast Five with The Mark Dubbeld Family

Tell us how The Mark Dubbeld Family was formed and when.

The Mark Dubbeld Family from Moneta, Virginia, are renowned for inspiring, originally penned songs, family harmony, and a sincere desire to communicate the Gospel through their music and testimony. They have been making a significant impact in Gospel Music and touching lives with a song to sing, a word to write, and a call to answer. The Mark Dubbeld Family has been singing and in ministry for 25 years.

The Family consists of Mark and Janene along with their children, Elena – 20 years old, Channing – 15 years old and Britton – 12 years old. Each of them play an active role in the ministry.

What is your current radio single?

Our single is “This Is What I Know,” written by Janene Dubbeld.

This is from Darren Lore the day after the Election, on Facebook: “…It’s a blessing and comfort to know that the Lamb of God is still on HIS throne! Nothing takes our God by surprise. Let the Church of Christ arise to the challenges of our day. For Such a Time as This, we are strategically positioned in our communities, nationwide. Let the Children of God continue to pray for an old-fashioned revival to sweep our Nation.

Many awoke today feeling stunned and disillusioned. Others, arose feeling joyous and victorious. The Mark Dubbeld Family’s current single, THIS IS WHAT I KNOW, is a reminder for all of us to grip God’s hand. And, I’m thankful that God’s grip is tighter than yours or mine! I encourage you to play THIS IS WHAT I KNOW, today!! THIS IS WHAT I KNOW will cheer your listening audience. It is an UPBEAT, UPLIFTING, PURE, SOUTHERN GOSPEL music, at it’s VERY BEST! In my opinion, The Mark Dubbeld Family is under-rated. But, their current single is gaining momentum. We appreciate your airplay and support of this full-time, family ministry. Find THIS IS WHAT I KNOW on Joy Unspeakable Music Promotions Vol. 4/ 2016 compilation. Thanks for spinning great SOUTHERN GOSPEL music with THE MESSAGE!” – Darren W. Lore/Family/J.U.M.P.

Mark Dubbeld FamilyMark, will you share your testimony?

Mark: I gave my life to Jesus as a 12-year-old boy. I started to travel and sing gospel music when I was 15-years-old in a Bible school quartet and then as a High School Senior, I met the love of my life and we were married and went to Bible College in Cincinnatti, OH. We both studied Music and graduated with Church Music degrees. In 1991, we went in to full-time Music Evangelism.

God has been so faithful to allow us to be in ministry from day one. Now, 25 years later, our whole family is involved in Kingdom work. I have seen the hand of God in my life and we are so blessed to be able to sing the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ!

What are some future goals for this upcoming year for the ministry?

We are excited, on a weekly basis, how God continues to open new doors of ministry and our music keeps reaching many for Jesus. We desire to grow, expand, and be an impact player in Gospel Music. We are anticipating working on our new gospel CD for release in 2017.

Dusty Wells: It Really Is Okay!

Written by Staff on December 23, 2015 – 2:16 pm -

Dusty Wells headshot mainCan you believe it’s December??? So friends, that means it’s almost Christmas! That incredible season where people from almost every part of the world have some kind of celebration no matter what they believe.
It’s also that special time where so many of us decorate to the utmost, listen to beautiful Christmas carols and songs, and share cards with one another. We send and share Christmas pictures, gifts and special Christmas-New Year letters detailing all that has taken place in the past year.
There are gorgeous trees with all kinds of twinkling lights and decorations galore, with presents in all kinds of gorgeous wrapping paper and bows, placed strategically under the tree. There are outside lights in every color and giant blow-up figurines of all shapes and sizes, making even the dullest of homes gleam with personality. The kitchens are filled with way too much candy, baked goodies and delicious treats. Brightly adorned Christmas sweaters make many of us smile and want to take pictures of them, and even secretly wish we were brave enough to wear them.
Dusty Wells Christmas imageWe attend Christmas concerts, programs, musicals and events where many of us cheer on those special “kids of all ages” in our lives. Some of us even love the fairytale story of “Santa Claus,” making it a fun time of laughter and joy to those around us. There are Christmas parties, get-togethers and dinners all begging us to join in the feasts and festivities and usually adding a few extra pounds to each of us. And the list of all that takes place in this month goes on and on and on.
It all leads up to that special day, December 25th where we will celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST.
Yes, I am one of those crazy-wacky ones who absolutely loves, adores and makes the most of the “Christmas Season.” I do almost all of the above-mentioned things and even then maybe more. I tell every store clerk, restaurant worker, UPS and postal folks – actually almost every one I come in contact with – a loud and hearty MERRY CHRISTMAS. Yes, I celebrate the season of Christmas and I want others to know how special it is to me.
You know why???
If you could’ve seen where Jesus Christ picked me up from and found me… I was in the deepest, darkest pit and darkness was all around me. A life of abuse, junk, crud and debris filled so much of my life. But some very special people took time out of their own busy lives and schedules and introduced Jesus to me. My life has never been the same. Oh, yes, life has dealt me many blows and I’ve had my own share of struggle and heartache and yet in the midst of all I’ve walked in, I’ve always made certain that I take time to celebrate Christmas with all the traditions, fun, and merriment; always knowing that Jesus in all of His greatness and love is the Reason for the season. Nothing or no one will ever change that belief to me. I enjoy so much of the season, and I always celebrate Him.
Merry Christmas friends! Take time to slow down and savor the season, and know you are so loved and so valuable. And that it’s okay to enjoy the Christmas lights, Christmas sweaters and The Carpenters Christmas Portait CD. It really is!
Go share His love with someone.

By Dusty Wells.

CHRISTMAS IS MORE THAN JUST HUSTLE AND BUSTLE

Written by Staff on December 21, 2015 – 3:41 pm -

Toys For Tots 3. ChrismasDuring this time of year, my solo concerts and teaching seminars slow down. The pace allows me to volunteer more and be a bit more involved with my family and friends.  Either way I win, so I embrace the moment of life given. It is Christmas!

toys for tots e 2013. ChristmasOver the weekend, during my volunteer work at the Toys for Tots Warehouse, my patience and last nerve was fully tested. With over countless people coming through building, the noise, clutter, mishaps, running children, squeals and even some discontented parents started to wear on my last nerve. But as the song says, “Put on a Happy Face!” and that we did.  Even when sorely tested, the lull of the Christmas music, the smiles and even an occasional hug offset most of the issues.

toys for tots F 2013. ChristmasAs the afternoon was winding down, a lady with three children came into the warehouse. I saw the children and thought well, maybe someone else will help them. I went back to clearing up some clutter and was about my business.

After a few minutes the lady was still near the front door looking but not touching. Her children were close and had those big brown eyes that just sparkled. She looked around, a bit lost and frazzled. As much as I wanted to finish and leave for the day (I was tired!), I asked if I could help her. I could tell she seemed a bit down but was trying to make the best of the moment.

toys for Tots d 2013. ChristmasAs I walked closer toward the family, I heard her say to the children, “Boys, be good and don’t be rowdy! Daddy’s watching!”  She asked about the Tonka Trucks, a fire engine, and if we had airplanes. Of course we had lots of toys. People had given liberally this year and it seemed we had plenty.

I took over to the cars and trucks. As the boys looked in awe, I asked their ages. She politely replied with a big smile, 11, nine and six.  She gave their names, but I really did not listen well. The youngest boy pointed, saying that was “the one Santa was gonna bring him.”  The middle boy saw the fire trucks and ladder rigs; he said that was what he wanted for Christmas. The oldest walked around until he found an Air Force plane that was about as big as he was.  He stood there just looking and smiling. They were well behaved and polite. They had manners. This was not so bad after all.

As Mom and I talked, I asked her why she had said, “Daddy’s watching?” when clearly she and the boys were alone. At that moment, she turned quiet for a bit with a faraway look in her eye. In a low somber voice, she said, “This is the first Christmas we’ve ever had alone. Their Daddy was killed in the middle east by a car bomb. It happened just after he went back last Christmas.”

I stood there. I was looking for the right words to say. Then the boys came running back and asking about something that went right by me.

Toys for Tots 1. ChristmasIn that very moment, my mind wandered back to a time when my brothers and I would wake up early on Christmas morning just to see what Santa had put under the tree for us. I remembered the smells of cookies, coffee, bacon and my Mom singing in the kitchen. I remember Dad playing with us boys on the floor in front of the Christmas Tree.  At my advanced age, I still smile and am wishful  when I think of those times in that small little house in Deep Gap, NC.

Then someone hollered, “ Look out!” I looked around the cold warehouse floor, there the boys played and heard them ask again about GI Joe and bicycles.

As I saw those three boys smiling and just playing in Toyland, I asked the lady how she was doing. With that far-away look in her eye she said, “Not a day passes that I don’t think of him, talk to him and sometimes cry.” By this time I was getting misty-eyed. She said her families and the locals had really helped out, “But this year was hard.” She went on, saying they had to move to a different house after the foreclosure, and that there were delays in getting military benefits for the family. By this time I was stunned, starting to get agitated at a system I knew nothing about.

She knew I was getting agitated. She said, “It’s okay! We will go through the process and it will work out. God’s got it under His control.” I was surprised at that comment. It was not what I expected.  She said, “If it were not for my faith in God and His blessings, I wouldn’t have made it this far.” Wow, what a sermon was just given to me. Her words were truly a blessing to me.

Christmas Donation - CPI Employees (002)As the boys were taken to other aisles, we loaded her car with the toys they wanted. I got their address to make sure that on Christmas Eve, three shining bicycles will be on their doorstep.  Other volunteers made sure there was food boxes and candies for the boys loaded in that old car. Mom looked shocked at the out-pouring of attention.

I thanked her for her service to this country and to me. She suffered a loss, so that I could be free. It was so Americans in all places could celebrate this one time of year we call Christmas.  Others saluted her while the boys (who I now knew by name) were told how proud their Dad would be of them taking care of their Mom. I can’t tell you how I felt when I watched the boys waiving from the back seat as they drove away. God had just given me another Christmas gift.

Now the point. When you least expect it God allows a blessing to come your way that re-affirms your faith. A blessing comes to teach you that your life is never as bad as you think.  A blessing comes to encourage you to live life fully, in the moment.

That family’s sacrifice is huge. But still greater, there was a historical sacrifice made for all mankind as our Creator gave His only son, to be born with a life’s purpose of being the ultimate universal sacrifice for all. The Christ Child is the only Person in all of mankind that has changed people for good. His teachings and principles are still impacting this world for good. Yes this Christmas we celebrate HIS life in great joy, blessing and thankfulness!

It is with renewed spirit and thankfulness I can say I know that Christ lives today! Merry Christmas to all!
