McCarver Delivers Inspirational Follow Up to First Top 80 Chart Hit

Nashville, TN (November 7, 2017) – Cody McCarver knows a few things so he decided to put those sentiments in a song. “What I Know,” from Cody’s release, Rise Up, has been released to radio and is going for adds now.
“The song “What I Know” is my favorite track I wrote for the new CDRise Up. I didn’t expect it to be a single but I am humbled that it is. I love the pure message of the song and it’s what I’ve learned since I have been living my life as a Christian,” Cody McCarver stated.
The release of “What I Know” comes on the heels of Cody’s first Singing News TOP 80 song, “Rise Up,” featured on both southern gospel and country radio outlets, in the United States and internationally.

ABOUT CODY MCCARVER:
Cody McCarver’s emotion-filled voice displays a life full of heartache and lessons. Yes, when you hear Cody sing, you know he has a story to tell.
Raised in the mountains of Spencer, TN, Cody’s first musical influence was in his home church. Even as a young child, Cody loved music and became the church piano player before the age of ten. It’s that musical connection to faith that has helped Cody through dark and troubled times, including the imprisonment of his father and his death inside a jail cell.
Cody spent over a decade with country music super-group, Confederate Railroad, eventually leaving to start his own solo career. This career was extremely lucrative with numerous accolades – including three number one videos’ on CMT Pure Country and earning the title of Independent Artist of the Year from Music Row Magazine.
Throughout his career, Cody has shared the stage with legends such as Charlie Daniels, David Allan Coe, Merle Haggard and more. His solo career saw his music topping the charts and even being featured in several motion pictures, which led to McCarver acting in several western films. His solo music has featured guest appearances by Colt Ford and The Oak Ridge Boys’ Richard Sterban.

The bright lights of fame and fortune brought many enjoyable things but it also exposed Cody to a very dark side. “Here I was with everything I could imagine,” states Cody, “but something was missing and I was miserable. So, I started filling that void with Jack Daniels, who became my best friend, every single day.” Cody’s life began to spiral out of control. “I was headed for death,” says Cody. “I knew something had to change…so I went to church.” Cody searched and found joy in his renewed relationship with God. Cody says: “God let me know that He never left me and He was with me the entire time.”

Today, Cody shares his story anywhere and everywhere he can – and there are no signs of slowing down. In fact, Cody’s just getting started!
McCarver lives just outside of Chattanooga, TN and is an ambassador for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America, an organization that is extremely close to his heart.

GRAMMY®-winning Artist Guy Penrod to Release LIVE Recording

GRAMMY®-winning Artist Guy Penrod to Release LIVE Recording

GRAMMY®-winning Artist Guy Penrod to Release LIVE Recording

Gospel and Country Singer Returns to Familiar Grounds

to Showcase Some of Today’s Most Loved Hymns and Worship Songs

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—GRAMMY® and GMA DOVE Award-winning recording artist Guy Penrod has announced the release of a LIVE recording of some of today’s most cherished hymns and popular worship songs. LIVE Hymns & Worship, (Gaither Music Group/Servant Records), produced by Penrod, will be available everywhere on January 29th, in both audio and DVD formats.
“Unity within the family of God is at the center of His heart,” explained the 2015 GMA DOVE Award nominee.  “I believe this DVD will help encourage us as believers to come together around the person of Jesus. We praised God using hymns and worship songs that everyone knows, weaving them together throughout the evening. We purposely recorded these songs in major keys and in arrangements with which people, and especially men, can easily sing along.  I love seeing the smiles on people’s faces as they join in.”
The nationally acclaimed, award-winning vocalist, known for his unmistakable, rasp-tinged vocals, went “home” to his alma mater for this special concert, which was recorded at Thomas Road Baptist Church at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.  Featuring the Liberty University Center for Worship Choir, the evening included a long set list of classic and contemporary favorites.
The university is where Penrod first met his future wife, Angie, when they both attended college there.  After earning their degrees Angie and Guy married and started a family, and Penrod began his career in music–a career that now boasts combined sales in excess of four million units.  One of the most popular artists featured on the Gaither Homecoming Video Series, Penrod spent 14 years as the lead singer of the Gaither Vocal Band before launching a successful solo ministry in 2010.
The Penrod Family and Guy’s ministry grew quickly.  Today he and Angie live on a farm, just south of Nashville, TN, with their eight children—seven sons and one daughter.  When he is not farming and enjoying time at home with his “tribe,” Guy and his band of musicians are on the road sharing his faith in song to audiences nationwide.
The DVD includes behind-the-scenes footage with the Penrod Family, allowing viewers to “spend some time” with them on their farm and hear messages behind the music through an up-close interview on their front porch with Penrod.
LIVE Hymns & Worship will receive prime placement in retail outlets and will air as part of a television special on Dish TV (Gaither TV, Channel 276), PBS, GaitherTV, TBN, RFD, FamilyNet, CTN, GMC, GMTN, Guardian, Liberty, TCT and TLN.  It will also air in Canada on Vision TV, CTS, The Miracle Channel and Hope TV.
The new CD and DVD are distributed by Capitol Christian Distribution and will available at retail and digital outlets worldwide including iTunes, Amazon, www.gaither.com and www.guypenrod.com.

SGN Scoops’ Fast Five with Kelly Coberly

Written by Staff on September 2, 2015 – 11:19 am -

Kelly Coberly Joins Hey Y'all Media

Kelly Coberly

Welcome to the SGN Scoops’ Fast Five, where we ask an artist five questions that you would want to know if you were talking to them!

This week we talk to Kelly Coberly, a solo artist from Buckhannon, West Virginia. Kelly began her career as a Country music artist, but she is now recording and singing Southern Gospel.

Kelly’s current radio release is “Because He Loved Me.” Be sure to call or email your favorite radio/internet station and ask them to play it. Find out more about Kelly on Facebook, but we are sure you will enjoy getting acquainted here on SGN Scoops’ Fast Five.

SGN: Who is Kelly Coberly? America wants to know!
KC: Growing up in a musical family, I always had a real passion for music. While attending Bluegrass festivals and other musical events as a child, I always knew that I wanted to pursue a singing career. My first job in the music business was at age seven when I helped my grandparents in their recording studio in Broadway, Virginia. I thought shrink-wrapping cassette tapes was the biggest thing in the world!

I began singing in the school choir at the age of nine, and in the year 2000, I began singing Country and Bluegrass music. I went on to receive several awards and honors, as well as a number two song on the Country music charts in Australia for my original song, “Ya Wanna Bet.” As a Country/Bluegrass artist, I recorded five albums, including a tribute album titled, “Remember West Virginia Coal,” which was a tribute to my hometown of Upshur County, West Virginia, where the “Sago Mine Tragedy” occurred in January 2006.

In early 2014, God called me into Gospel music ministry. I am now a Southern Gospel recording artist, and I have released my debut Gospel album titled, Because He Loved Me, which is available at Amazon.com. I am extremely blessed to be able to do what I love and to be able to use the talent God has given me, and to share His word in song. If I can bless someone with my music, and lead them closer to the Lord, then my mission has been accomplished. I want everyone to be able to experience the joy of having God in their life.

I am a mother of two wonderful boys. Tyler is 20 and Corey is 16. They are my biggest fans.
SGN: Tell me about your most memorable concert and why.
KC: Each show is special and dear to me, from the testimonies that are given, to the comments made to me after the show, to the wonderful people that I get to meet. The most wonderful testimony I have heard so far, was from a gentleman whose daughter had been in a coma for several weeks. Her prognosis wasn’t very good, and they weren’t sure if she was going to wake up and pull through. Another gentleman from the church had given him one of my CD’s to listen to, and when his daughter heard the CD, she opened her eyes. I was completely speechless and in tears as this man was telling me his story. What an amazing testimony, and what an amazing feeling it was to know that God had used me and my music ministry to touch that girl and her family in such a special way. God is so good, and I give Him the honor and glory for everything. It still chokes me up every time I think about it.
SGN: How does someone book you and buy your product?

KC: BOOKINGS By Mail: Kelly Coberly Music, P.O. Box 1216, Buckhannon, WV 26201
By Email: kellycoberlymusic@aol.com
By Phone: (304) 614-4515
Facebook: www.facebook.com/kellycoberlymusic
My album is available at my concerts or online at www.amazon.com
SGN: Please share your testimony with us.
KC: As a child, I attended a Methodist church and a Nazarene church near my home with my family. As a teenager, I started attending a Baptist church with some neighborhood friends, where I was saved and baptized. I married at age 18, and had two wonderful boys, Tyler and Corey, who are now ages 20 and 16.

I had always believed in God ever since I can remember, but I did not always live in a way that was pleasing to Him. I was a back-slidden adult for about 20 years. I found myself trying to get right with God many times, but always failing. I knew that I was far from perfect, and I felt so unworthy of God’s love. Every time I would stumble, I would beat myself up over it. I felt like just giving up sometimes.

In 2005, at the age of 30, I divorced and moved to Pigeon Forge, TN. I was confused, I was scared, I was lonely, and although I thought I knew what I was doing at the time, I didn’t. While in Tennessee, I met a wonderful Christian friend and I could just see the love for God in his eyes. We spent a lot of time just talking about God and talking about how blessed we are. He truly inspired me to become a better person. I was reminded that we all fall short of the glory of God, and when we mess up, we need to pick ourselves back up, ask God for forgiveness, and devote our lives to serving Him.

In 2008, I moved back to West Virginia and started piecing my life back together again. I kept in touch with my friends from Tennessee, and in 2013, I re-dedicated my life to the Lord, and started attending church again. I have never been happier in my life.

I made alot of mistakes in my life, and I learned from each and every one of them, but I can honestly say that through all the trials and tribulations, I am proud of the woman I have become, and I want everyone to know how much I love the Lord. I am truly blessed and I have so much to be thankful for. I am so thankful for my salvation, and I am thankful that God gave me the gift of music and that I am able to use this gift to deliver God’s message to others.

SGN: Tell us about your radio single and why you chose it.
KC: I chose “Because He Loved Me,” as my first radio single because not only is it the title track on my album, but it is also one of my most requested songs. This song has touched a lot of hearts, including mine. I have had so many people come up to me after my shows and tell me that they were blessed to tears by this song. I have always loved this song. It has such a powerful message behind it. Jesus suffered it all “Because He Loved Me,” Thank you Jesus!

Thank you Kelly for sharing your story with us in such an open and honest manor. I know many of our readers will want to hear you in person.

Please go to Kelly’s Facebook page for more information and to contact Kelly directly.

Rusty Golden: Sober

Written by Staff on August 25, 2015 – 7:29 am -

Rusty Golden. Sober1Review by Lorraine Walker

Have you ever been driving in the dark when you look up and see a house with all of its drapes open and blinds drawn up? The inside lights reveal the life of the occupant and you are drawn in by the intimacy and honesty of that stranger’s world. Sober opens up all of the windows and doors of Rusty Golden’s heart and draws you into his world of addiction recovery, faith, relationships and all the stuff that is life.

Golden has shared with me in the past about his battle to reach recovery, and though I could write word upon word about the darkness that addicts experience and what it means to reach the Light, nothing I write could help you understand this journey as much as Sober. From “Out of My Hands” through to becoming “Stoned on Love,” the emotion and the expression of Golden’s gravelly vocals will speak to your heart. If you can listen to this CD all the way through without tears falling, you are made of stronger stuff than I am. You can hear a sampler of the album here.

Golden has always reminded me of Elton John with the way he interprets music, and I can hear this influence throughout. I love the piano riffs, the incredible saxophone and the driving guitar beat. Just like Sir Elton’s music, you will not get bored or have that déjà vu feeling that every song sounds the same. Golden is gifted and musically articulate.

Rusty Golden 2Each time I have listened to this album, I have been grabbed by the message in a different song. Beginning with “Out Of My Hands,” Golden shows us what it takes to maintain recovery from addiction. However, each track speaks to events that all of us experience. From lines such as “the fine line separating right from wrong that oughta be obvious is all but gone” from “Things I Lean On,” to “…sinning faster than Momma was praying,” the “God-shaped hole” of “Hollow Man,” and the enthusiastic “Stoned on Love,” we can relate to times when we felt ‘hollow’ to times when we were so filled with the love of Jesus, we had a natural high.

Rusty Golden has written many songs for Southern Gospel artists, but fans of “John In The Jordan” should be alerted that this CD is not filled with quartet-style songs. In my opinion, perhaps only a couple of the tunes are playable on Southern Gospel Radio: “The Reason Why I’m Here,” “Thank You Lord For This Day,” and perhaps “Living Right Now.” However, if you enjoy variety and gutsy vocals, this CD is for you. If you feel the relief in “I found Heaven in the hell I raised, in the not-so-good-old, ‘good old days…'”; pain in “though I love you I have to give you up;” and the dependence in “show me how to walk on feet of clay,” then this is an album you want to add to your collection immediately.Rusty Golden studio. T3 Photography. Sound Kitchen

From an Inspirational Country and regular Country music radio point of view, most of these songs will appeal to a wide demographic. “Things I Lean On” has an easy feel, perhaps this is one that should introduce listeners to the world of Rusty Golden. This world is intense, provocative and edgy, but not one to be ignored. Sometimes we think we should present a picture with all the right pieces in place. Golden is not afraid to let you know that, like most of us, some of the puzzle pieces are still in the box.

This album is for those who are sober and those who want to be, for those with family who are addicted and those who have ever prayed for someone to find freedom. For the small minority of people whose lives have never touched those in need of recovery, you will find your own lyric on this album that will speak to whatever you are going through.

Sober by Rusty Golden can be purchased here on his website, or on iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby, and other outlets. Find out more about Golden on Facebook or online. Follow on Twitter.
