Creekside Memory

Creekside was memorable to me for a few reasons this year.

#1) thankful to have Heather with us as she initially thought she’d have to miss due to school.

#2) I’m loving watching the friendships among my girls and the rest of the younger generation develop. They just “get” each other with what they do and why they do it.

#3) God’s protection! We had TWO instances that could have been disastrous, but God! Heather had Hannah, Lyndsey & Tiffany in the car with her late one night. She misjudged the turn into the hotel and hit the sidewalk resulting in a busted tire! 😳 Chris spent most of Thursday working to get it fixed. Then, on the way home on Friday, not realizing just how sleepy I was, I fell asleep while driving on the interstate while Chris and Heather watched helplessly from the car in front of us. Thankfully, as my vehicle skidded into the median I was jolted awake. We managed to stop and Hannah and I were okay, just shaken. Needless to say we switched drivers! So thankful it was no worse AND there were NO other cars around us at that moment.

#4) Completely and utterly enjoyed the Browders!

Thank y’all for all the hard work for a great week of fellowship and worship at Creekside.

Jean Grady asked me to help with the backstage announcing at this year’s Diamond Award ceremony. I hated not to be enjoying the show from the front row, but you can’t say no to Jean! As it turned out, I was in the perfect position to celebrate with my friends as they came offstage after accepting their awards! I think I hugged everybody!

Creekside Memory- Vonda Armstrong

My Favorite  Creekside Memory was when my friend Jan Buckner Goff took the stage and sang with Bill Dykes, Tank Tackett, and Josh and Ashley Franks.
Little Jan is a perfect example of Class and Grace. I know Dr. Goff was smiling.

Vonda Armstrong

Check out this special moment!

Creekside Memory

Attending my first Creekside, I have to admit, I had some apprehension about it because of the unknowns of what all happens there. I have heard the slogan “we are family”, and it didn’t take long for me to see and feel that. I was welcomed with open arms to people I’d already met to people that I’ve never met. I witnessed groups praying with other groups. I saw artists cheering on others. It was great to see and hear great preaching and I was blown away at the level of talent that is out there singing. Thoroughly enjoyed the midnight prayer sessions and how the freedom of the Lord was there and how everyone was welcomed to letting people share freely about their needs. Looking forward to the future of Creekside and seeing it grow more and more.

Creekside Memory

Another great week at Creekside. Vonda Armstrong  and Rob Patz are to be commended for putting it together. Every year gets better. Each year there are new artist that appear. It is great to meet and hear them.
So much variety you never get tired of gospel music. As the slogan says we are family is certainly true…..

Family Tradition Continues with Parker Rains, Pardoned

Parker Rains and Grandfather Carl Rains

Pardoned at Dollywood

When Pardoned was invited to be a guest of Tony Gore’s at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN. Parker Rains of the group thought the guys were just going to hear and support their friends The Troy Burns Family, Tony Gore, and Answered Prayer. What he didn’t realize was Donnie and Rusty had a little surprise in store. In 1997 Within a week of Parker being born, actually a week to the day, his grandfather passed away so he grew up with only stories of his very talented grandfather. Parker’s grandfather would lead singing schools all over the southeast as well as sing with different groups both regional and professional. You see Parker’s grandfather was Mr Carl Rains bass vocalist for the famed John Daniels Quartet! Why is that important you may ask? Well little did Parker know his grandfather’s picture was hanging in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Dollywood.. Carl Rains was a member of The John Daniels Quartet for 5 years, and holds the honor of being inducted into this great fraternity as a part of this well-loved Quartet. As you can see by the picture, Parker was a little surprised to see his grandfather’s picture there! Donnie and Rusty were excited to be able to share this moment with him and see a young man that had only heard stories actually see what so many already knew! So next time you’re in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Dollywood, take a moment to check out the picture of The John Daniel Quartet and look for the great “lowdown” bass singer, 3rd from the left, Mr Carl Rains, and remember an incredibly proud grandson from the band Pardoned who is definitely making his grandfather proud!

Creekside Memory- Kevin and Kim Abney

Creekside Memory

Our favorite memory of Creeksise 2019 was Monday night midnight prayer. The singers all discussing their moments of discouragement and trials and everyone encouraging each other and praying for each other. Also loved the prayer request being taped to the cross. Very touching.
