Joy Holden at Creekside. Singing on the SquarePigeon Forge, Tennessee (August 19, 2019) — Creekside Gospel Music Convention has offered something new and different each year, but in this eighth year of gospel music presentation, there are many original features. One of the newest, most exciting additions is Singing on the Square.

Creekside presents new Singing on the SquareJoy Holden is the first artist to open this new addition to Creekside. Creekside presents new Singing on the Square

“I’m honored to be a part of Creekside 2019,” says Holden. “I’ve always heard such great things about Creekside in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. It’s not just the music element that gets me excited – it’s the great spirit of joining in authentic ministry with my gospel family and friends, that connect us all like small pieces of thread in Grandma’s hand sewn quilt. God’s handiwork!”

Holden is a gospel singer/songwriter/music producer, from Boiling Springs, South Carolina. Singing Southern/Country/Progressive music, her latest single on the charts is entitled, “Under Water.”
Joy HoldenA seasoned musical veteran in the fields of pop and rock, Holden’s debut Christian album was released in 2017. Since that time she has been presenting her high energy, foot stomping music, blessing audiences across the country.
Holden adds, “I also recognize that we have an opportunity to witness to people on the Square who may not have  intentions of going inside to the Music Convention. So that is super cool.”

Rob Patz asks “What Does Freedom Cost?”

Written by Staff on July 20, 2019 – 11:41 am -

Rob Patz asks: Are you free?Freedom subject of Publisher’s Point for July by Rob Patz

John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” Jesus came to bring us freedom.

I think we hear more about freedom during the month of July because of the Fourth of July, and I believe it also makes us think more about freedom. There are many in our world who want us to be free from everything. Unfortunately, there is a cost for freedom.

Clearly, the cost of freedom in our country includes those men and women who sacrificed their lives in service for our country, no matter what the war or conflict, or even during peacetime; those that chose to protect us and our freedom and lost their lives, are one cost of our freedom.

I truly believe as Christians we live in freedom, but this freedom has a cost, too.

To live free from sin means we have to sacrifice things that in the world we would see as appealing. I’m sure each and every one of us have struggled daily with things of this world that have appealed to us, but we realized that the bondage that comes with the sin takes away our freedom. It takes away the simple joy that we can have and the freedom that we can experience in our lives if we submit to what God has for us.

Now, is it going to be easy, or is it going to always be fine? No, but if we want to live in the dimension of freedom that I think every one of us craves as Christians, it means we have to live within the boundaries the Bible sets up for us. There’s always a roadmap, there’s always decisions to make, and there’s no such thing as freedom without a cost.

Rob Patz of Coastal Media

Rob Patz of Coastal Media

Let me encourage you today. You may be in a place in your life where you’ve chosen things that have now put you in a state of bondage. You’ve chosen things that now control you instead of you controlling them. I encourage you today to return to Christ. He is willing to break those chains and give you the opportunity to live free. Freedom has a cost. I think the cost is worth it.

Hey everybody, I want you to join me for Creekside 2019, on Oct. 27 – 31, in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. This year, it’s not just one event but two, as we add Christian Country at the Creek, Oct. 30 and 31. If you need a hotel room, this year we are excited to have two options for our attendees. Please give me a call at 360 933 0741 or email events@sgnscoops.com.

I

THE CREEKSIDE DIARIES, Volume Four. Wednesday, October 31, 2018. By Kristen Stanton.

The third full day at Creekside began with a chapel service in the showcase hall led by Dr. Jerry Goff followed by a time of music with the ALQC Road Revival featuring several Creekside artists who also perform at the Alabama Quartet Convention.

Scott Washam of Day Three

Scott Washam from Day Three talked about the humble beginnings of their event. “We didn’t have two pennies to rub together but we stepped out in faith.”

Washam went on to explain how the Road Revival ended up with a show at Creekside. “One day I was talking to Vonda on the phone and she said, hey you should bring the Road Revival to Creekside.  I thought she was joking but here we are.”

Several artists including Day Three, Living Faith, Gloryland, and Cami Shrock, performed for a packed house.

The evening concert included some first time artists from Indiana and Florida, showing just how far reaching the Creekside arms are extending.

The Gibbs Family, in their first trip, had the crowd on their feet in worship.

Wednesday night at Creekside would not be complete without Midnight Prayer.  The Chandlers led an intimate time of prayer and worship where over fifty had gathered believing they would leave this event different than they did when they walked in.

Creekside continues to change lives from night to night.  We have one more day until the event wraps up.

Creekside 2018 opens with quartet-filled Kickoff Concert

Creekside Kickoff Concert 2018

Creekside Kickoff Concert 2018

Creekside Diaries, volume one: Sunday, October 28, 2018

By Kristen Stanton

The air is buzzing with excitement here in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Cars and buses are pulling into the Smoky Mountain Convention Center ready for a big week here at the Creekside Gospel Music Convention.

Creekside Kickoff Concert 2018People are greeting each other with hugs or shouts from across the parking lot and it’s clear that “We Are Family” is more than just a slogan – it’s a feeling.

Creekside Kickoff Concert 2018Now in its seventh year, this event has taken on an identity different from anything else in the industry.

Packed full of singing and special events, this year kicked off with a bang with Quartet Night. The Pine Ridge Boys, The Chordsmen, and Common Bond Quartet sang to a standing room only audience that left the crowd excited for the Monday night concert. The capacity crowd filed in when the doors opened at 6:30 p.m. and stayed until the last note was sung.

Arthur Rice to be honored by Dr. Jerry Goff at Creekside 2018The spark is in the air – and if you’re here, you can feel it. The pastor at church this morning reminded us that God’s presence changes everything. The three quartets that sang tonight certainly ushered in the presence of God.

Is revival starting?  Maybe. I can’t wait to find out!

Rob Patz celebrates 7 years for Creekside

Welcome to the October 2018 Publishers Point by Rob Patz

Rob Patz and Richard Hyssong at SGNScoops booth, NQC 2018

Rob Patz and Richard Hyssong at SGNScoops booth, NQC 2018

As I sit down to write this, we have just closed the National Quartet Convention for another year. It was awesome. Thanks to everybody who worked so hard to put together a fantastic event.

The Nelons at Creekside 2017

The Nelons at Creekside 2017

Now we look forward to Creekside 2018 and all that it has in store. I’m excited about this year for many reasons. One, I get a chance to introduce you to the people who read our magazine, some of my new friends who are going to be there this year to sing, plus reacquaint you with some old friends who have been with us since the start.

As I was writing this, I begin to think of what all went into the planning process of the first year of Creekside; how underprepared I really was and how awesome God was to step in and bring people of value from day one who would help with everything from seating the people to arranging the midnight prayer time.

So today, I want to share with you my heart. I want to tell you a little bit about what I hope you experience this year when you come and visit us for Creekside 2018.

I want you to experience the friendships that are cultivated during this time. You’re going to get the opportunity to meet new artists and new fans; people that you may never have heard of before. My prayer is that the time you leave this week they will be like old friends.

C.T. Townsend at NQC. Photo by Chip Woods. C.T. Townsend will also be appearing at Creekside Gospel Music Convention Oct. 28-Nov.1

I hope you enjoy the experience of listening to new music and hearing new speakers. I hope above all that during the time we’re together for four and a half days, that we point you in the direction of Christ. We can spend an entire year planning an event, but that event will fall short if we don’t point you to Christ and a personal relationship with him.

During the next few weeks, you will see items on social media about everything that we are doing as we prepare. In my head, I began counting down the days several months ago. I’m ready to see what God has in store. I believe there is going to be a move of God this year. I’m excited about C.T. Townsend being with us and preaching in a way that only he can, stirring the souls of all listeners.

Creekside 2018

Creekside 2018

If you told me seven years ago that I would still be planning this event and that it would’ve grown to the size that it is now, where it takes a crew of people months on end to organize, I could not have imagined it. But here we are in countdown mode, getting ready to see everyone we love and excited to meet new people.

A couple of years ago we realized that at Creekside, “we are family,” and that became our slogan. I truly begin to embrace it because at the end of the day, family is so important to what we’re doing.

So come join us for Creekside 2018. We want to fill the Smoky Mountain Convention Center with praise and prayer over four days. Join me this year and become part of our family.
