“Gospel music is near and dear to us, and recording this album was a real joy.  We’re honored to be recognized by our friends in gospel music,” said Jamie Dailey.

Dailey & Vincent included in PEOPLE Country Special Issue “Free Holiday Music” Feature

Written by Scoops Staff on December 6, 2010 – 12:06 am -

NASHVILLE, TENN.  —Bluegrass Entertainers of the Year Dailey & Vincent are included in the PEOPLE Country Special “Free Holiday Music” feature in the current issue (December 2010), on stands now.
Each of PEOPLE’s Country Special issues contains a 2-page feature with photographs and information on 7-10 new tracks by different artists.  Each track is available for a free download on iTunes ( www.people.com/free).  The December issue’s playlist is dedicated to holiday music, and Dailey & Vincent’s “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” is their featured track.  The song was released on a compilation called Christmas Grass Volume 2 by Koch Records, before Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent had formed a duo and signed with Rounder Records.  Darrin Vincent produced the album.
“Both of us had always loved this song,” says Jamie Dailey.  “We kept the arrangement very simple, with our two vocals, a mandolin and a guitar.”
“And we had no idea at that time that our recording together for this project would eventually lead to us forming Dailey & Vincent,” adds Darrin Vincent.  “This recording will always be very special to us.”
Dailey & Vincent are the reigning three-time International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Entertainers of the Year, earning Vocal Group and Album of the Year honors along with the Entertainer title at the 2010 IBMA Awards on September 30.  The Album of the Year trophy recognized their Cracker Barrel/Rounder project, Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers, available exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®. The 12-song tribute to the beloved quartet debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart (issue date February 20), where it spent 9 weeks at #1 and 19 weeks in the top 3.  The album also entered the Billboard Top Country Albums chart at #19, earning the Hot Shot Debut and marking the duo’s first top-20 debut on that chart.
The New York Times called Dailey & Vincent “the most celebrated new bluegrass act of the last few years.”  A Wall Street Journal feature on them (“A Bluegrass Duo Reigns Again”) began with, “A new dynasty may be taking shape in bluegrass music.” Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is proud to announce its support of the Dailey & Vincent Front Porch Tour.  In 2008 Dailey & Vincent took home seven IBMA awards, becoming the first act in the history of the IBMA awards to be named Entertainer of the Year and Emerging Artist in the same year.  They have released three albums in addition to Dailey & Vincent Sing the Statler Brothers—Dailey & Vincent, which was IBMA Album of the Year in 2008, Brothers From Different Mothers, and Singing From the Heart, an all a cappella collection benefiting the Tennessee Bible College. Dailey & Vincent maintain a heavy touring schedule, with over 125 shows booked for 2010.  They are also regular guests on the Grand Ole Opry.   On October 2 they hosted their inaugural homecoming concert in Gainesboro, Tennessee, which raised over $31,000 for the Dailey & Vincent Helping Hands Fund.  The fund exists to help underprivileged children in Jackson and DeKalb Counties in Tennessee.

DAILEY & VINCENT PRESENT $20,000 CHECK TO TENNESSEE BIBLE COLLEGE

Written by Rhonda on November 3, 2010 – 3:08 pm -

NASHVILLE, TENN.  (November 1, 2010)—Award-winning bluegrass duo Dailey & Vincent presented a check for $20,000 to the Tennessee Bible College in Cookeville, Tennessee, representing their portion of proceeds from the sale of their CD, Singing From the Heart.  The all a cappella gospel collection, honoring the Church of Christ’s practice of singing without instruments, was released on Rounder Records in 2009.  Tennessee Bible College is a Church of Christ institution.

“Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent are not only two excellent musicians and performers, but two down-to-earth good, humble men,” said Malcolm Hill, Chancellor of Tennessee Bible College.  “They want to see a better world and are willing to give to that end.  The support they give to Tennessee Bible College helps make possible a college education for worthy young men and women.  May God continue to bless and keep them.”

“We’re so pleased to be able to present this check to the college to fund scholarships so that deserving students can get an education,” said Darrin Vincent.

“Years ago, when Malcolm first told me about the need for scholarship funds at the college, we talked about putting a gospel CD together,” said Jamie Dailey.  “This was long before Darrin and I decided to form a duo.  It took several years and the support and participation of a long list of incredible singers, but we were finally able to make this project happen.  To see what it’s done for the college is very gratifying.”

To record the album of quartets, Dailey & Vincent called on the very best of vocalists from the worlds of bluegrass, southern gospel and country music.  Guests on the album include tenor Andy Ball, bass Glenn Dustin, tenor Anthony Facello, baritone Tony King, tenor Shawn Lane, bass Jeff Pearles, as well as Doyle Lawson, who sang baritone on “Near the Cross,” and Molly Skaggs, daughter of Sharon White and Ricky Skaggs.

Singing From the Heart earned two International Bluegrass Music Award nominations—for Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year (“Don’t You Wanna Go to Heaven”) and Best Liner Notes for a Recorded Project.  The notes were written by Fred Bartenstein.

CRACKER BARREL AND DAILEY & VINCENT HONOR STATLER BROTHERS WITH EXCLUSIVE NEW RELEASE

Written by Scoops Staff on February 3, 2010 – 1:20 pm -

Bluegrass Entertainers of the Year Will Perform Statler Brothers Classics in 2010 Tour

LEBANON, Tenn. – Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent, the reigning International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Entertainers of the Year, will take another step in honoring the legendary Statler Brothers as they perform several Statler Brothers songs during their 2010 tour. Many of these classic songs are featured on the duo’s new release: Dailey and Vincent Sing The Statler Brothers. This twelve-song CD, now available exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® and online at crackerbarrel.com, features new recordings of classic Statler Brothers songs and showcases the incredible musical talents of Dailey & Vincent.

“Dailey & Vincent Sing The Statler Brothers features one of the country’s top bluegrass acts performing music that is authentic and loved,” says Cracker Barrel’s Vice President of Marketing, Peter Keiser. “Jamie and Darrin have years of performing and recording experience, and they have earned a great deal of notice as well as a number of significant awards in the short time they have been recording together. This CD honors the Statlers, and gives us all a good idea of what’s to come with Dailey & Vincent.”

With more than 100 performances planned for 2010, Dailey & Vincent will add a special Statler Brothers segment to their concert song list. The songs featured on this exclusive CD are exciting and authentic bluegrass interpretations of 12 Statler Brothers classics. The Statler Brothers, one of country music’s most popular groups until they retired in 2002, are pleased that Dailey & Vincent are bringing new sounds to these beloved songs by recording and performing them with such care and dedication.

“Jamie and Darrin have used their magic touch to honor us and our music,” says Statler Don Reid. “This CD is one great tribute from two great friends. Dailey and Vincent – they are what good music and friendship is about today.” The Statler Brothers made an indelible contribution to the American music landscape, from the day they hit the road with Johnny Cash in 1964 until their retirement in 2002. They are one of only six acts to be inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, writing and recording iconic songs about small-town life, love, faith, and days gone by.

For years, Dailey & Vincent have admired the Statler Brothers. In 2008, they were honored to perform at the medallion ceremony marking the Statlers’ official induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame®. On their two previous releases, Dailey & Vincent performed Statler hits like “More Than a Name on a Wall,” “Years Ago” and “There is You.”

Dailey & Vincent are pleased to have this new CD at Cracker Barrel because they, themselves are at Cracker Barrel on a regular basis. Jamie says, “We’re delighted to work with Cracker Barrel on this project because we pull our bus into a Cracker Barrel every weekend; that’s where we have breakfast and lunch.” And Darrin adds, “Bluegrass music is the roots of America, and we think Cracker Barrel is the roots of America, and combining the two is just a perfect match.” And Jamie adds, “From the very first time we started including some Statler Brothers songs in our shows, the audience response was overwhelming. All it took was the first few bars of ‘Elizabeth’ or ‘Do You Know You Are My Sunshine?’ and the crowd was out of their seats and singing along. That is a testament to the timeless quality of the Statlers’ songs, which is why we’re so honored to do this album, and why we think the folks at our shows will love the new Cracker Barrel segment.”

Dailey & Vincent have taken the bluegrass world by storm since they launched their career as a duo in 2007. Jamie Dailey was formerly the lead singer and guitarist for Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver; until the end of 2007, Darrin Vincent was guitar and mandolin player and harmony vocalist with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. In addition to being named Entertainer of the Year, Dailey & Vincent received 2009 IBMA awards for Vocal Group of the Year and Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year, for “On the Other Side.” Their latest success follows an incredible run in 2008 when they took home seven IBMA awards, becoming the first act in the history of the IBMA awards to be named Entertainer of the Year and Emerging Artist in the same year.
