Gold City accepts Diamond Award
By Paige Givens
In 1980, Gold City Quartet came together for the first time and added a new blend of voices that would change gospel music. Even though the group has undergone many changes in the past 36 years, with new voices coming and going, one thing has remained the same with this celebrated group: They still sing for the same One who brought them together in the first place! Their harmony on stage is only made sweeter by their harmony off stage.
Daniel Riley, baritone and owner of Gold City, explains the group’s current lineup. “This is not a brand new group with four parts who just got together at once. Group members have come aboard to this already established group at various times. So, each member had a different start date. Joining me on stage now are tenor Thomas Nalley, lead Scott Brand, bass Chris West, and pianist Bryan Elliott.
“Scott is our newest member. He had filled in a few weeks for us and auditioned in the process, but his first official date was at the Memphis Quartet Show on June 18, 2016. I think when we brought Scott on, we all knew there was something special happening, and it still feels like that now, on stage and in the studio as we’re working on our next recording. I’m excited about this current lineup and what I’m hearing each night. If the feedback from fans and our peers is any indication, they are excited too.”
Since its inception in 1980, this Gadsden, Alabama, group has won numerous awards from fans and the Southern Gospel music industry, has sung and recorded many number one songs, and has received prestigious honors. Yet Gold City Quartet continues to remain grounded and points all success to the Lord.

Heritage Gold Tour – Georgia
Written by scoopsnews on May 23, 2016 – 12:34 pm -GOLD CITY QUARTET PART OF HERITAGE OF GOLD TOUR
ROBERT YORK·MONDAY, MAY 23, 2016
Dahlonega, GA – The Gold City – In the early 1800’s gold was found in this town and as a result there was a gold rush to the North Georgia Town and it obtained the name Gold City. In the 1840’s the gold had played out but around 1980 a gospel singing group appeared that is known today as GOLD CITY QUARTET. Tim Riley was bass singer of the group and they re-located to Gadsden, AL their home town. In 1981 the group appeared on the main stage of the National Quartet Convention and became a top group in the industry. They have recorded at least ten number one songs and won numerous awards. Tim Riley has made his way into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Tim’s son Daniel Riley now manages the group. Members consist of Daniel, Chris West, Thomas Nalley, Chip Pullen and Bryan Elliott. GOLD CITY QUARTET will be part of the Heritage of Gold Reunion appearing June 11, 6:00 pm at Shiloh Hills Baptist Church, 75 Hawkins Store Road, Kennesaw, GA. Along with Gold City will be former members Steve Ladd, Jonathan Allen Wilburn and Mike LeFevre along with their groups. Hope everyone will plan on being there. For tickets call Robert York 770-617-0359.

GOLD CITY AUDITIONING FOR LEAD SINGER
Written by SGN Scoops Staff on April 29, 2016 – 5:17 pm -Chip Pullen, lead singer for Gold City announced his resignation on the group’s Facebook Live broadcast on Thursday evening, April 28th. Chip, who has been called to preach the gospel, stated that, at this time in his life, he wants to continue his Bible studies. He’s taking a position with a local landscaping company that will allow him to pursue his education an afford him the opportunity to preach more. He leaves with Gold City’s blessing.
Daniel Riley, manager for the group, says, “We love Chip, and we hate to see him go, but we certainly understand that God has a great plan for his life in the ministry. Chip is like a brother to us, so we are certainly going to miss him and his powerful voice in the lead position. As much as we know God has a wonderful plan for Chip’s future, we also know that He has the right person out there for Gold City, too. God has never failed us and has always sent the right man for the right season. We know He won’t fail us now.”
For those interested in auditioning for Gold City, here is the process: email a resume, photo, and a demo in mp3 format to: goldcityauditions@gmail.com. No phone calls please.
