SGN Scoops Wacky Wednesday: Top Ten Artist Favorite Pizza Toppings

Written by Staff on July 22, 2015 – 8:21 am -

wackywednesdayThanks for joining us for another Wacky Wednesday on SGN Scoops. Today we ask another insightful question, “What do Gospel artists like to put on their pizza?” (because we know YOU are dying to know that answer!)

Karen Peck and New River

Karen Peck and New River

SGN Scoops polled a few artists about various things and tabulated their answers. We have used this (not so great) scientific process to create today’s Wacky Wednesday Top Ten!

The number one answer for favorite toppings was, of course, pepperoni. Who gave us this answer? Chris Jenkins, Karen Peck (who cheated and also asked for pineapple! But that’s okay because we all love Karen and she can say whatever she wants!) Joseph Habedank, Michaela Brown (yes, this kitchen chef actually eats pizza!) Billy Blackwood, and Gary Casto.

Gary Casto and Tribute

Gary Casto and Tribute

Donna King and Lauren Talley only wanted cheese!

David Sutton and Greg Bentley voted for sausage.

Two out of three Booth Brothers** asked for extra tomato sauce. The other one suggested green peppers.

Phil Collingsworth Sr. likes it Hawaiian style, and asked for pineapple.

Clayton Inman, Scotty Inman and Triumphant

Clayton Inman, Scotty Inman and Triumphant

Scott Inman also cheated, and instead of suggesting just one topping, he nominated “Meat Lovers” for his favorite. But again, we all love Scotty, so we let him get away with this response.

Speaking of Inmans, Scotty’s dad Clayton had only one word in response to what his favorite pizza topping was: “YES!”

Shannon Smith thinks along the same line as Clayton when he says, “Everything except anchovies!”

Booth Brothers

Booth Brothers

Hannah Webb stole this writer’s answer when she responded, “Barbeque Chicken!”

We are sure you have come away from this feature feeling more educated about the pizza toppings enjoyed by Southern Gospel artists. Or perhaps…just hungry for pizza. If so, we have accomplished our goal.

Stay tuned for more of these indepth polls right here on SGN Scoops!

SGN Scoops Wacky Wednesday: Top Ten Places Gospel Artists Like To Eat

Written by Staff on June 24, 2015 – 4:37 pm -

wackywednesdayThanks for joining us for another Wacky Wednesday on SGN Scoops. Today we ask another insightful question: “Where do Gospel artists like to eat?”

Booth Brothers

Booth Brothers

SGN Scoops polled about 17 or so artists about various things and tabulated their answers. We have used this (not so great) scientific process to create today’s Wacky Wednesday Top Ten (more or less)!

Zane and Donna King

Zane and Donna King

Our panel of expert artists gave us the following answers.

The Number One answer it seems is, of course, Cracker Barrel. Now we aren’t sure if there is a particular entrée that is preferred by our contestants, although most of us on Facebook are aware that Gerald Wolfe likes Cracker Barrel for the lima beans. He was not one of our panel of guests, but five out of 17 on the panel voted for this country-style restaurant, including Greg Bentley, all three of the Booth Brothers and Donna King.

The next favorite place to eat is in a mall

Greg Bentley

food court, as voted on by Scotty Inman and David Sutton. David also indicated that he enjoys Bourbon Chicken in the mall.

Other favorite restaurants include…

Michaela Brown…Skyline Chili

Karen Peck… Longhorn Steakhouse

Hannah Webb… Panera

Lauren Talley Alvey…Cheesecake Factory

Gary Casto… Waffle House

Billy Blackwood… HuHot

Phil Collingsworth Sr. … Dickey’s Barbeque

Three Bridges

Some other interesting responses include…

Clayton Inman, who likes to eat on the bus.

Joseph Habedank, who likes to investigate local restaurants.

Shannon Smith, who said, “Five Guys may be the most common and consistent, particularly when we’re on a tight

schedule (however, some of the local places are very cool and interesting.)”

So now you know! There may be more than 10 answers, but that is how we roll on the SGN Scoops Wacky Wednesday!

Thanks again to all of our participants. Be watching SGN Scoops mainpage for more Wacky Wednesdays in the weeks to come. Do you want to suggest a subject or an artist? Email us at sgnscoops@gmail.com

Candi’s Catch Ups: The Rick Webb Family

Written by Staff on January 27, 2015 – 9:40 am -

The Rick Webb Family

The Rick Webb Family

By Candi Combs

In a quaint historic church in southern Virginia, the Rick Webb family recently raised their voices to the rafters. The family of four shares that special harmony reserved for those closely related. The group is lead by Rick Webb and his wife Phyllis. The couple has been singing together most of their adult lives. They are joined with son Parker and daughter Hannah who all hail from North Carolina.

Rick Webb

Rick Webb

In Rick’s opening remarks, he introduced Hannah as a beauty queen who recently appeared with Jeff Foxworthy on American Bible Challenge. “Not only can this gal sing, she is also pretty smart!” quipped her father. Parker is responsible for managing the group’s road schedule as well as contributing his smooth vocals. Phyllis introduced herself as a theologian offspring to self-describe her childhood as the daughter of a pastor.

Phyllis Webb

Much of the music preformed comes from the Rick Webb Family’s newest release from Committed to the Call. “Heaven’s Bells are Ringing” is a song with a happy tempo that was the Webb’s choice to open the evening concert. In a tribute to the many challenges of a local church, the Webb’s performed, “Let the Church Roll On.” Definitely a favorite of the crowd was the performance of “Unclouded Day” from the Cokesbury Hymnal. Rick followed by using his smooth voice to deliver, “I Have Found Him.”   Parker then took center stage with his own arrangement of Squire Parsons’ “Beulah Land.”

The Webb couple shared great stories from their early pre-marital days traveling with Disney’s Sounds of Liberty.   The travel schedule was brutal

during that time but they met each other and learned much about this great country called America. These experiences were an excellent introduction to a stirring rendition of “God Bless America.”

A unique area of ministry for the Rick Webb Family is a production of Glory and Majesty they direct during the Christmas holiday season in Indiana. Phyllis told the

Hannah Webb

story of a cast member with special needs who for many years performed his role flawlessly. The Webb’s have learned that the man came to a saving knowledge of Jesus though the production and had recently passed away. “Saved through the simplicity of salvation,” Phyllis said as she introduced, “If Not for the Old Rugged Cross.” “Please don’t leave here tonight without being sure you know Him”, she cautioned.

The simple call to salvation was highlighted with the song, “Every Knee Shall Bow,” as the group opened a time of invitation.   With the room focused on the Cross, the group asked promoter and songwriter, Dawn Smoot Moss to join them on stage to close the night with “Behold He Comes.”

The Rick Webb Family has a beautiful gift

Parker Webb

of song that is obvious. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of this group is their sweet spirit as they share what being a Christian really means. Each member of the group warmly welcomes each person they see. Their love for the Gospel does not stop when they step down from the stage. The genuineness of The Rick Webb Family ministry goes from the product table to the local Mexican restaurant where they enjoy baskets of chips.

As owners of Song Garden Music, Rick and Phyllis Webb are committed to developing young artists to carry on the gospel through music. In addition to the project featured at the concert, the Rick Webb Family has also recently released a project targeted at children. Rick stated, “We must be committed to telling the youngest of children about how much Jesus loves them.” With great focus, this 2015-01-18 20.25.36dual-generational family group is making a strong investment in future generations.

Watch for an exciting announcement forthcoming in regard to future plans for the Glory and Majesty production. The Rick Webb Family is seeing doors open to new goals with this ministry. These folks are clearly looking for opportunities from above!

Rick Webb Family music is available on line and at most Christian music outlets. http://rickwebbfamilymusic.com/
