JOEY+RORY’s The Singer And The Song Offers Duo’s Hits and Unreleased MaterialThe Singer And The Song CD features more than a dozen songs that brought out the best in the husband and wife’s lives and careers, along with a personal, 28-page booklet from Rory. “The songs that appear on this ‘Best Of’ record are not our greatest hits,” Rory says in the CD booklet. “Instead, they are the songs that brought out the best in us. These, along with many others. JOEY+RORY’s The Singer And The Song Offers Duo’s Hits and Unreleased MaterialArtist and storyteller Rory Feek has found a new normal over the past few years, parenting his daughter Indiana, authoring two bestselling books, managing his farm and singing for the first time since the passing of his wife, Joey, in 2016. The couple captured the hearts of millions as Rory chronicled their love story and Joey’s cancer battle on his blog, as well as their preparation for her passing in March 2016.
But there’s much more to the story: the couple met in the early 2000s, when Joey was still an aspiring country singer. They eventually fell in love, married and recorded Joey’s debut album, If Not For You(Gaither Music Group/Farmhouse Recordings) re-released in 2017. After gaining attention as finalists on CMT’s “Can You Duet” in 2008, Joey+Rory went on to release eight albums, winning a GRAMMY® Award for Best Roots Gospel Album for Hymns(Gaither Music Group/Farmhouse Recordings) in 2017.“I know how amazing this life that God has given us is, even though it’s taken some tragic turns,” Feek says in the DVD. “I mostly walk around pinching myself. That’s saying a lot, but it’s because I didn’t do it. She didn’t do it. He did it. And as much as there have been some very, very hard times the joy-filled times outweigh them. You carry them around with you, and for some reason they put some perspective to the pain, and it helps.”The Singer And The Song: The Best of Joey+Rory CD and DVD will be featured as a TV special airing on over 15 networks weekly, including RFD-TV, DIRECTV, Dish TV, TBN, CTN, The Heartland Network, FamilyNet, GMTN, Guardian, Liberty, TCT, TLN and GaitherTV.  It will air in Canada on Vision TV, The Miracle Channel, Grace TV and CTS.  The products are exclusively distributed by Capitol Christian Distribution and Universal Music and are available throughout general market stores and the Christian marketplace in addition to online retailers including iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon.com, CBD.com and Gaither.com.

Joey Feek’s Solo Debut, If Not For You, Offers Insight Into Country Singer’s Life

Joey Feek’s Solo Debut, If Not For You, Offers Insight Into Country Singer’s Life

Recorded in 2005, the Rory Feek-co-produced album includes memories and stories from the singer and her family
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – April 7, 2017 — Recorded in 2005 and produced by her husband, Rory Feek, and Bill McDermott, GRAMMY®-winner Joey Feek’s solo debut, If Not For You, is out today through Gaither Music Group/Farmhouse Recordings. The 12-song collection is also available in a special edition featuring a 48-page booklet of photos, memories and stories penned by Rory.

Joey Feek is widely known as one-half of country music duo Joey+Rory, who most recently won a GRAMMY® for their Hymns album in February. The couple captured the hearts of millions over the past few years as Rory chronicled their love story and Joey’s cancer battle on his blog, This Life I Live, as well as their preparation for her passing in March 2016. But there’s much more to the story: the couple met in the early 2000s, when Joey was still an aspiring country singer. They eventually fell in love, married and recorded Joey’s debut album. The collection was released independently in 2005 and was made available at the duo’s shows and on their website, years before they appeared on CMT’s “Can You Duet” and began recording as a duo. This marks the first time the album will be widely available.

Joey Feek’s Solo Debut, If Not For You, To Be Released

Joey Feek

“When this album was recorded in 2005, Joey and I were still newlyweds, or at least we felt like we were. Though we had hopes for the record at the time, it wasn’t meant to be, and so this collection of music set quietly on a shelf for the last ten years or so, waiting for the right time to come along, when maybe somehow, someone would care. A time like now,” Rory said. “It is one of the great joys of my life to dust these songs off and bring life to them again. Not just the songs, but also the stories and the life of the special woman that these songs represent.”

The songs on If Not For You and the lyrics speak volumes about the woman whose life touched the hearts of millions. As Rory explains in the booklet, the album is filled with songs that showcase the things that were most important to Joey. Starting with “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You,” the song that brought Joey and Rory together, the album begins with a cameo from Joey’s mother and father and closes with Joey and Rory’s oldest daughter, Heidi, singing harmony on “Old Paint,” which Roughstock featured earlier this week. Rolling Stone Country premiered “Nothing To Remember,” the first song Joey and Rory wrote together in an early songwriting session in 2001, telling the story of a couple only able to be together in the short-term but thankful for the fleeting time they had. Originally called Strong Enough to Cry in 2005, the former title track, which premiered with The Boot, expresses Joey and Rory’s views on how to make it through difficult times. Also making an appearance on the album is the original recording of “That’s Important to Me,” which would later be a charting single for Joey+Rory; “See You There,” a tribute to her late brother, Justin, that premiered with Yahoo Music; and “Southern Girl,” focusing on Joey’s love for the South, which premiered with Taste of Country.

Country Music Couple Joey+Rory Honored with 2017 GRAMMY® Award

Country Music Couple Joey+Rory

“This recording is, of course, a significant one for us,” said Paul Sizelove, vice president of Gaither Music Group. “I grew up in the same hometown with Joey and watched she and her family love each other and the people along their paths. We all watched her move to Nashville to pursue her dreams. Things seemed to come full circle when, years later, our label was able to join hands with Joey and Rory along their recording journey. What a blessing it has been to be a part of their inspiring story. It is an honor to release this recording that captures so much of her heart and heritage and represents a dream of hers coming true.”

After gaining attention as finalists on CMT’s “Can You Duet” in 2008, Joey+Rory went on to release eight albums, winning a GRAMMY® Award for Best Roots Gospel Album for Hymns (Gaither Music Group/Farmhouse Recordings) in February. Recorded in hotel rooms as Joey received treatment, the album features songs of faith and was released in February 2016, a month before Joey passed away at age 40.

If Not For You is exclusively distributed by Capitol Christian Distribution and Universal Music. It will be available throughout general market stores and the Christian marketplace and through online retailers including iTunes, Amazon, Target, Walmart.com, crackerbarrel.com and gaither.com. The recording will also be available at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®.

The couple received the award for Hymns (Gaither Music Group/Farmhouse Recordings), the first recording in nearly a decade to top both the Top Country and Top Christian Albums charts, according to Nielsen Soundscan.

Feek accepted the duo’s award and dedicated it to his wife.

“My wife’s dream was to make a hymns album,” Feek said. “We sat together in the final days and watched this awards ceremony last year; and she said, ‘If we get nominated promise me you will come.’ I said, ‘I will,’ and she got a big smile on her face and she said, ‘Remember if we win, I’ll know before you will.’”

Hymns, the #2 top-selling country album in 2016, was among the Top 10 on the Country Music sales chart for 20 weeks and was in the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 for six weeks. The record, produced by Rory and Joe West (“When I’m Gone” produced by Gary Paczosa), was in the Top 100 top-selling albums for the year across all music genres. The album was the top-selling Christian album for the year, and the Hymns video landed in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Music Video chart and also on the Christian Music Video chart for months.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled for our dear friends,” stated label founder and longtime friend of the duo Bill Gaither.  “This win honors a life that was well-lived. There are no more deserving artists than Joey+Rory.  Though we dearly miss Joey’s sweet smile, her life and music continue to make a powerful impact on this world.”

One Last Kiss Joey+Rory

One Last Kiss Joey+Rory

One Last Kiss Joey+Rory

There’s the easy way… and then there’s the best, right way.

My wife has always known the difference between the two.  And ninety-nine times out of a hundred, she has chosen the right path over the least-difficult road to take.  She is still making the best, right choices.  Even now.

Joey loves her some George Strait.  She always has.  He’s her go-to guy whenever she puts on a cd and is cleaning the house or driving her car.  And when romance is in the air, it’s not Michael Buble’ or some crooner that she wants me to put on… she wants king George.  And I am more than happy to oblige.  A love-affair with a singing cowboy who lives a million miles away in her dreams seems safe enough for me.  Heck, I think there are really only two or three men out there that I would’ve had to worry about being jealous of…. George, Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones.  The last two are because of the movie Lonesome Dove.  My wife and I have watched ‘Gus’ and ‘Woodrow’ make the long cattle-drive to Montana a half-dozen times or more over the years.  And she gets that look in her eyes when she watches that movie.  She’s enamored by those men.  By that lifestyle.  Joey loves real cowboys.

Last February Joey+Rory

Last February Joey+Rory

Last February Joey+Rory: According to my birth certificate and our bathroom mirror, I’m about to turn 50 years old.  I was born in April of 1965, so it all adds up. But for some reason, in my head and heart, it doesn’t.  I still feel like a young man in my late 20’s or early 30’s at the most.  I guess most men around my age always feel younger than they actually are…or at least they want to.

The first birthday I remember that my father had was when he turned thirty-eight.  We lived in an old farmhouse that we’d rented just outside of Highland, KS and I remember the big “3” and “8” candles on his cake.  The funny thing is though…he was already old, at least he was to me.  I wonder if he knew he was old then.  Or if he felt like I do when he was the age I am now.  My father passed away at 51, so I never got to have a conversation with him about growing up or growing old.  I’ve just had to try to figure it out, and as you can tell, I  haven’t yet.  Part of me hopes I never will. President of Gaither Music Group Barry Jennings stated, “When we first started working with Joey+Rory a few years ago Rory said, ‘I want to live a story.’  Well, what a ‘story’ he and Joey have lived, perhaps not the one they wanted, but a story that has touched countless lives around the world.  We have all been changed by their ‘story’ and are so honored to have been a small part of this project.”
