StowTown Records Signs The Perrys

Written by Staff on October 31, 2013 – 12:05 pm -

Perrys(Nashville, Tenn.) – StowTown Records is honored to announce the exclusive signing of The Perrys – undisputedly one of the leading names in Southern Gospel music – to its growing family of artists.

Inked during a celebration at the offices of Provident/Sony Distribution, this new partnership – between the legendary Perrys and StowTown founders Ernie Haase and Wayne Haun – is a natural outgrowth of the mutual respect, friendship and admiration built throughout the years they’ve shared stages across the country. Haase is quick to explain his excitement about the signing: “I have known Libbi and Tracy for about 20 years now. They are my favorite kind of people — humble and full of the love of Jesus. It is my honor to finally get to work with them. I believe the best is yet to come!”
One of the most-awarded groups in Southern Gospel music during their storied 41-year career, The Perrys’ roster currently includes Libbi Perry Stuffle — the unforgettable alto who carries on the family legacy, her husband and beloved bass singer Tracy Stuffle, their son Jared (JK) Stuffle — assisting on bass vocals, lead singer David Ragan, and baritone Bryan Walker.
2013 has been a challenging year for The Perrys, with the ongoing recovery of Tracy Stuffle after his initial stroke in January. However, Tracy’s recent return to selected dates and featured songs with the group serves as a picture of grace and hope to the prayer warriors who have joined The Perrys on this journey of faith. Tracy — who signed the contract himself — is clearly grateful: “Lib and I, along with our guys, Bryan, David, and JK, are so excited about our joint venture with StowTown Records and Provident/Sony Distribution. We look forward to many years of a lasting relationship with both companies. We have always had a wonderful relationship with our long-time producer Wayne Haun, and are excited that this new chapter will still include him. We are very
much looking forward to what the Lord and the future is gonna hold for The Perrys.”
Their new project is expected to release in March 2014, so fans should follow The Perrys on social media for updates on the recording process, as well as upcoming concerts, events, and Tracy’s recovery. Libbi’s heartfelt updates and prayer postings on Facebook have also become a must-read for both new and long-time fans of the group.

JOSEPH HABEDANK STEPS DOWN AS LEAD SINGER FOR THE PERRYS

Written by SGN Scoops on May 21, 2013 – 1:38 pm -

josephHendersonville, TN (May 21, 2013) – In a letter posted on their Facebook page earlier today, The Perrys announced the departure of Joseph Habedank from the award-winning group. Having begun his career as The Perrys’ baritone singer nearly a decade ago, Joseph stepped into the position of lead singer in 2006 and has also been serving temporarily as the group’s emcee in the absence of Tracy Stuffle.

In the letter, Joseph writes, “Thank you all for loving and accepting me over the years. I never dreamed that The Lord would allow me to feel so loved by the fans of Gospel Music. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!”

Libbi Perry Stuffle adds, “While it saddens me that Joseph is leaving, we definitely respect his and Lindsay’s need to reevaluate their lives and future. He has been like a son to me and Tracy. Although he is leaving our group, we will always consider him part of our family.”

Joseph shares no details of his future plans, but asks for prayers during the transition.

Prayer Vigil Tonight on Behalf of Tracy Stuffle of The Perrys

Written by SGN Scoops on January 22, 2013 – 2:20 pm -

It is our understanding that Tracy Stuffle, bass singer of The Perrys  suffered a stroke last night and is receiving medical care in the libbi and tracyIntensive Care Unit at a local Nashville hospital. In an effort to do our part in rallying Christians to pray for our brother, please read the following Facebook Update from Libbi Perry Stuffle, Tracy’s wife.

Updated on Tracy as of 1:50pm

I just seen the neuro surgeon. The second bleed out in Tracy’s brain is filling up the fluid cavities in his brain. Basically this is like having a stopped up sink with the water still running. The blood left in there is gonna cause pressure on the brain. So the dr is fixin to put a drainage cath in his brain to let the fluids drain out of the fluid cavities. This will only take about 15 mins and is done bedside. Problems that could happen: once in the brain could cause another bleed. 2nd is infection setting up which could go straight to the brain. If this is not done, he will continue to get sleepier and sleepier until he falls into a coma. He’s almost been weaned off Meds to lower his blood pressure. He is stable on the blood pressure.

At 7pm eastern time 6 cst a mass of churches across the United States are gathering to have a prayer vigil on Tracy’s behalf. We would be so honored to have you join with them and my family. Thank you to everyone who has and is praying!!!!

Please send this to everyone you know!!!

 “Memories With Libbi Perry Stuffle”

Written by Laura Kennedy

SGNScoops Magazine, July 2012

One of six children, Southern Gospel’s most beloved alto singer recently allowed SGN Scoops the privilege of some talk time. Singing, as Libbi is quick to share, has been her whole life; “I had just turned seven. We started singing on Christmas day, 1970 after the loss of my 13 year old brother, Johnny, that previous July 30, 1970. The Perrys decided to go full time after the loss of my baby brother George who was also 13 at the time of his death on June 5, 1982.”

The Perrys, in the mid 1980’s, signed with former pianist for the Happy Goodman Family, Eddie Crook on his Morning Star Records label. Libbi later met and married Tracy Stuffle who would then become the group’s longtime bass singer. For over 40 years and throughout various personnel changes, the group has not only been well received, but is one of the leading Mixed Groups in the industry today.

In my opinion, receiving awards and recognition is evidence of diligence to a skill and craft.  In southern gospel music, the most important ingredient to the success of any writer, musician, or vocal artist is the rich indwelling and guiding force of the Lord Jesus Christ.  And when the Lord allows, an artist can touch and deeply affect the spiritual walk or even awakening of their listener. Libbi is that kind of artist. And as such, has been awarded Singing News Fan Awards for the 2005 Female Vocalist and Alto Singer Of The Year and the 2006 Alto Singer of the Year.  While at the 2009 National Quartet Convention, Libbi was voted Favorite Alto in the 2009 Singing News Fan Awards. Both she and The Perrys received 11, Top 5 nominations in the 2010 Singing News Fan Awards for Favorite Artist, Mixed Group, Male Vocalist, Female Vocalist, Horizon Individual, Young Artist, Alto, Lead, Songwriter, Album, & Song. And most recently, Libbi was awarded Singing News Fan Awards, for the 2011 Favorite Alto of the Year.

Clearly, the traditional tone and strength of Libbi’s voice is what makes her a fan to many. When asked how that particular quality speaks to her, Libbi replies; “It overwhelms me! I never dreamed in a million years that people would even consider my singing anything to be awarded for. To say that I am honored would be an understatement!”   Read more »
