Marshall Hall Releases New Christmas Project

Marshall Hall Releases New Christmas Project

Without a doubt, most would agree that the sweet melodies of Christmas have a unique way of warming hearts. Christmas is a time for celebration and fellowship with loved ones and reflecting on the birth of the Christ-child. This holiday, no one does Christmas quite like Marshall Hall. The world-renowned singer/songwriter is no stranger to Christian music: formerly a member of the Gaither Vocal Band, lead worship pastor for Mountain Park Community Church (Phoenix, AZ), Shadow Mountain Community Church (El Cajon, CA) and currently at Willow Creek Community Church (Chicago, IL), Marshall’s solo career continues to thrive. All will agree that his phenomenal vocal ability, gift of communication and passion to serve has a way of touching the hearts of everyone he meets.

A recently released project entitled “Christmas” by Marshall Hall has quickly become a classic favorite that will last for years to come. This Christmas compilation contains reverent anthems and carols such as “Away In A Manger”, “Silent Night”, “The First Noel”, “Joy To The World”, “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “Angels We Have Heard On High” (featuring Wes Hampton) and modern day favorites, “All Is Well” and “Bethlehem Town”; Also included are the heartwarming classics “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and “Christmastime Is Here”. This beautifully produced project is one that each listener will easily fall in love with and cherish.

Leaving Louisville: Twenty Years of NQC

Written by Staff on September 9, 2013 – 11:42 am -

nqcnewlogoChange is always hard and the NQC Board made a bold step twenty years ago when they announced the move from Nashville to Louisville for Gospel Music’s favorite yearly event.

From scheduled sings on the Belle of Louisville to concerts in the downtown square; from impromptu songs in various area restaurants to special gatherings in local hotels; from Elvis sightings to Uncle Sam in the Exhibit Hall, there are many unforgettable moments for the Gospel music fan at NQC.

As a writer for SGM Radio and SGN Scoops, I’ve had the opportunity to interview many interesting people at NQC.

Many of these artists wouldn’t have the time to sit with an interviewer during an ordinary concert setting. NQC is also the opportune time for fans to also talk with their favorite singers. What a great opportunity it is to attend NQC and be able to sit down with the makers of the music!

SGM Radio and SGN Scoops would like to extend a special thank you to the board of the National Quartet Convention for continuing on a tradition that began many years ago, for making the necessary decisions for the growth of the festival and for embracing artists, fans and industry alike as we celebrate together our music and our faith.

We look forward to 2014 in Pigeon Forge!

****As a fan who attended the first Louisville NQC, I have many memories of the National Quartet Convention at Freedom Hall. I’m sure our readers do as well, and I invite you to submit these memories for posting here this week. Please submit your NQC thoughts and pictures to lorraine@sgnscoops.com

Gaither Vocal Band Kicks Off 2013 Tour with Three Sold-Out Concerts

Written by SGN Scoops on February 12, 2013 – 3:43 pm -

(Alexandria, IND – February 12, 2013)  The 2013 Gaither Concert Tour kicked off this weekend with three sold out Gaither Vocal Band gvbconcerts in Lafayette, LA, Houston, TX, and Longview, TX.
Mark Lowry, who broke his femur in a fall on January 3, made an appearance Friday night in his hometown of Houston by speeding onto the stage of the Arena Theatre on his brand new motorized cart.  He told the audience the story of his fall and went on to sing several songs with the Gaither Vocal Band, including “Sow Mercy,” from the newest Gaither Vocal Band recording, Pure And Simple, as well as the classic he co-wrote with Buddy Greene, “Mary, Did You Know.”
Because Mark has not been able to travel or put weight on his injured leg since the accident, former Gaither Vocal Band baritone Marshall Hall stepped in to sing baritone in Lafayette and Houston, and received an enthusiastic welcome from the audience, as well as from his GVB comrades.  Mark Lowry is expected to return to the stage in March if the doctor releases him to do so.
The next cities on the 2013 tour will be Olathe, Kansas on March 1, and Dodge City, Kansas on March 2.  For a complete listing of the 2013 tour dates, visit http://gaither.com/tour/gaither-concert-tour.  Tickets are currently available for all upcoming tour dates, but those who would like to attend are encouraged to act fast while there is still availability.
Photos of Houston concert can be viewed here at Gaither.com or on the Friends of Gaither Music Facebook page.
Several video interviews from the weekend are available for viewing at Gaither.com, including backstage conversations with Mark Lowry, Marshall Hall, gospel legend Lou Hildreth, Gene McDonald, and the newest member of the tour, keyboard player extraordinaire Matthew Holt

Hendersonville, TN (April 25, 2012) – The CW Network will be welcoming a new voice to their Hart of Dixie TV show this Monday evening. While Southern Gospel audiences and Gaither fans will find it familiar, many new fans will be pleasantly surprised by the sounds of this terrific singer and his fresh music.
