COUNTRY FAITH SOUTHERN GOSPEL SALUTES THE GENRE'S BIGGEST SONGS, PAST AND PRESENT

COUNTRY FAITH SOUTHERN GOSPEL SALUTES THE GENRE’S BIGGEST SONGS, PAST AND PRESENT

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Country Faith Southern Gospel, a new collection featuring 15 timeless songs from some of the genre’s most beloved artists, is now available from Curb | Word Entertainment.  Showcasing a range of favorites, past and present, Country Faith Southern Gospel is highlighted by classics from such legends as The Happy Goodmans (“The Lighthouse”) and The Cathedrals (“Step Into The Water”), alongside Mark Lowry’s “What’s Not to Love,” The Nelons’ “Oh For A Thousand Tongues” and The Crabb Family’s career-defining hit, “Through The Fire.”

With eight albums to date and $2.5 million in retail sales, the Country Faith music line—part of a multi-faceted brand including books, jewelry and other products—unveils this debut Southern Gospel compilation following the success of Country Faith Hymns, Country Faith Love Songs and Country Faith Christmas, among other music titles. Previous releases have featured many of the format’s superstars, including Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, George Strait and Brad Paisley.

“Southern Gospel music is one of the genres I grew up listening to, and I love it,” says Deborah Evans Price, award-winning journalist and cofounder of Country Faith, LLC. “There are so many Southern Gospel songs that have been anchors in my life, and many of them are on this project. I feel like when people hear this collection, they’re going to be moved, encouraged and comforted. These are songs that people have known and loved and made a part of their lives, and I’m honored to have them on the Country Faith Southern Gospel collection.”

“Brand New Star,” a poignant tune from multi-genre icons The Oak Ridge Boys, resonated deeply with Evans Price following her mother’s death. “That one has been such a light and comfort for me after losing Mom,” she explains. “It’s the closing song on the album, and it will always be special to me.”

Longtime Southern Gospel fans will appreciate the inclusion of Greater Vision’s toe-tapping hit “My Name is Lazarus,” while The Florida Boys, Karen Peck & New River, Legacy Five and Canton Junction are also featured on the new release. Additionally, the project includes inspired performances from favorite soloists Jason Crabb, Michael English, Joseph Habedank and Janet Paschal.

“We are thrilled to have our song ‘God’s Got a Better Plan’ included on Country Faith Southern Gospel,” says Matthew Hagee, founding member of Canton Junction. “Music from The Cathedrals, The Happy Goodmans and The Oak Ridge Boys, along with so many others, filled our home growing up, so being on the same record as these Gospel music pioneers is an honor we do not take lightly.”

A sought-after journalist and recipient of the Country Music Association’s prestigious Media Achievement Award in 2013, Deborah Evans Price has interviewed numerous luminaries, including Dolly Parton, Don Henley, Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, Dennis Quaid and Tim Tebow. She is the author of three books and serves as a contributing writer for Billboard, Redbook, People, Sounds Like Nashville, First for Women and Woman’s World, among other outlets.

Country Faith, LLC partners Deborah Evans Price, Bob DeMoss and Wildfire7 launched the successful brand with Evans Prices’ acclaimed books Country Faith (2013) and Country Faith Christmas (2015). In addition to eight full-length albums, the brand’s growing catalog includes books, jewelry and other items celebrating country, Christian and Gospel music. Time Life Music features the Country Faith book on national television as a bonus product in its Faith, Hope and Country collection, while other brand partners include Curb | Word Entertainment, Regnery Faith Publications, Cracker Barrel, Bob Siemon Designs and New Day Christian Distributors.

Country Faith Southern Gospel is available atiTunes and Amazon, among other digital retailers, as well as in select stores across the country. For further information, visitcountryfaith.com orturningpointpr.com.

Pray Now

Pray Now

7:42 PM ( Yesterday)

Here’s an update on Ella. Please continue to pray for a miracle. 💚

From Jeff’s secretary:

Jeff and Jody came out to speak to those in the waiting room after meeting with the doctors. The prognosis does not look good. Jeff said they are still believing for a miracle, but they also understand that Ella’s healing may not happen on this side of heaven. They are understandably heartbroken and exhausted, but they are trusting in God’s faithfulness no matter what the outcome. Jeff said that God gave them 10 years with this sweet girl, and they count every one as a gift. He said they will also continue to praise God for Ella’s life regardless of the outcome.

Jeff and Jody are displaying remarkable faith throughout this difficult time, and I know that their faith will continue to sustain them. But they are in need of your prayers as well. Please continue to lift up them and Caleb, Abby, and Ava, as well as Ella’s grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

From Jason Crabb ( Earlier Yesterday)

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING! Right now, everyone say a prayer for Jeff Bumgardner’s little girl.
She was at church and lost her sight and then became unresponsive. She went into emergency surgery where she had a brain bleed and a huge tumor. She was in surgery for hours.
She’s 10 years old her name is Ella! Please say a prayer for her! In Jesus name, please touch her Lord.

About David Clark: (davidclarkwrites.com)

My name is Dave Clark and I am a writer. It is not just what I do, but who I am. I left my home in Jackson, Michigan, when I was 17 and followed the song to Nashville, Tennessee. I wouldn’t wish those early years on anyone, but I am richer for the lessons time has taught me.

I have been married for more than 30 years to the only math teacher I’ve ever had a crush on. Cindi and I met on a blind date, and I bought the ring two weeks later. Our home has known the laughter of three amazing children. Allison, Anna and Sam each bring a unique passion for life and are champions for Christ.

My most unlikely accomplishment is that nearly 30 years after graduating from high school, I enrolled as a first-time freshman at Nazarene Bible College and graduated Delta Epsilon Chi and ABHE Honor Society with a Bachelors Degree in Ministry.

In addition to writing words, my hobbies include editing video, playing any instrument with strings and standing in line for whatever Apple sells.

Karen Peck and New River in Concert: Final Weekend with Jeff Hawes

Written by Staff on August 6, 2015 – 10:04 am -

first

Karen Peck and New River

On August 1, 2015, we were privileged to be at a concert featuring Karen Peck and New River in Coburg, Ontario. The site was the Lakeshore Pentecostal Camp, a beautiful campsite on the shores of Lake Ontario. Inside the Tabernacle was seating for about 1000 people on old-fashioned wooden pews and we were happy to see modern fans and feel the air-conditioning on that exceptionally warm evening.

Karen Peck and New River stepped onto the stage to a very appreciative crowd

welcoming the artists for the first time to that venue. Many had heard this mixed group previously and fully enjoyed the first few renditions of top songs from the well-awarded history of KPNR.

Karen Peck Gooch, Susan Peck Jackson and Jeff Hawes were joined onstage in the first half by Karen’s daughter Kari on vocals and Matthew on guitar. Karen’s husband Rickey

was running sound and we were happy to note that he is on his way to better health after dealing with cancer for much of the year.

Some notable musical moments included “On The Banks Of The Promised Land,” where the guitar that Matthew was playing so proficiently turned into the sound of a mandolin, and then “Hallelujah For The Cross,” a song off of their newest release, Pray Now, which featured Jeff Hawes on the lead. This vocalist will definitely be missed!

I always enjoy the clear tones of Susan on her alto leads, especially the tune “Sustaining Grace,” which was another chart-topper for KPNR. Karen then had Rickey give his testimony of coming through his health battle, and we were all exhorted to “Pray Now,” in every situation, for God does hear and answer prayer!

During the intermission we were blessed by the instrumental sounds of Matthew on steel guitar and Jeff Hawes on piano. Jeff is a terrific pianist as well as vocalist and Matthew is working his way to proficiency on a variety of stringed instruments. They made a great team.

The second half was as wonderful as the first, and I don’t say that lightly. Karen has a way of edit 4drawing in her listeners and then taking them with her as her voice soars ever higher, bringing a special sense of worship and praise to God. After a full concert, Karen stepped down off the stage to present a song completely alone. Her rendition of “My God Will Always Be Enough,” was simply incredible. Her clarity, tone and strength in her upper register after a long evening were amazing and gave proof to why she is one of the top vocalists in Gospel music.

After a sensitive and encouraging prayer time, the artists ended the evening appropriately with the song, “Finish Well.” While the hall was filled with all ages, there was a predominance of older listeners who sometimes feel that their best years are behind them. What an encouragement and exhortation to everyone there, that while we still have breath we have a work to do for the Lord, and we all need to “Finish Well.”

The Karen Peck and New River concert at Lakeshore Pentecostal turned out to be the penultimate performance of Jeff Hawes with the group, and we were thrilled to have had that experience. We wish Jeff all the best in his new endeavors within the educational system, but we hope he knows how much the Southern Gospel world will miss his vocals and sweet spirit. Our prayers are with KPNR as they fill Jeff’s edit 5position with another Godly vocalist.

No doubt Karen Peck and New River will persist in expanding their boundaries and pushing the envelope, as they continue on their journey of excellence in Gospel music.

Special note to all you fashionistas out there: take special note of the ladies’ shoes and fashions onstage. KPNR always is in style with colors that flatter and never look immodest. Love that about these artists!

Monday’s Prayer Focus: We serve a Father that wants to hear from His children

Written by Staff on May 4, 2015 – 12:46 pm -

893641571-630x420SGN Scoops would like to put a focus on prayer to encourage each of us to pray more and listen harder for God’s response. Thursday, May 7, is the National Day of Prayer in America. Today we focus on a GOOD Father who hears and answers prayer.

Today’s verse on prayer:

“…if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV)

We asked various artists about the importance of prayer in their lives. Stay tuned here all week for more!

Sneed Family Music

Sneed Family Music

Jeff Sneed of the Sneed Family has a lot to share about prayer:

To me prayer is the greatest tool that we as Christians have. It not only is vital as the lifeline to a Christian but it is the doorway to the gift of salvation.  This is why I believe that the devil works so hard to hinder the prayers of God’s people.  Have you ever noticed that every time you try to spend time talking to the Savior there is always things that try to divert your attention? Satan knows when God’s people pray, things will happen.  I must confess that too many times I’m more like Martha being busy with the work to be done that I am like Mary spending quality time with God. Most often, I find myself talking to God in the late stillness of the night or the early morning hours.  It seems it’s then I am able to get my priorities in the proper order.
Several times and places, I know without a shadow of a doubt, that God heard my prayers.  I remember when each one of my children were little, I got a burden for God to save them when they were to reach the age of accountability.  I needed a promise from God that even if I were called out of life before my children reached that age, that I would know I would get to meet them again when this life is over.

Praying the Lord’s Prayer

Written by Staff on May 1, 2015 – 9:21 am -

Karen Peck & New River Releases Highly Anticipated Album, PRAY NOW

Karen Peck & New River Releases
Highly Anticipated Album,
PRAY NOW

In respect of the upcoming National Day of Prayer on May 7, 2015 and the release of Karen Peck and New River’s album and video, Pray Now, we have posted this devotional on the Lord’s Prayer by Lorraine Walker and Stephen Widener. We encourage you to visit Karen Peck and New River’s website and view their video, “Pray Now.”

For several months now I have been praying Our Lord’s Prayer as part of my daily devotions. God has been teaching me and I’ve been trying to comprehend at least part of what Jesus was saying when He gave the disciples this prayer in Luke 11:2–4 and in Matthew 6:9-13.

I asked my friend Stephen Widener, an assistant Pastor in Lenoir, North Carolina, to give his thoughts as well. My prayer is that this will lead you into your own study as we take a deeper look into these words from our Lord.

Stephen: “Let me say this, it is the model prayer of how we’re to pray. The Bible clearly says to pray without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:17). God wants to have an intimate relationship with us, as He did with Adam in the Garden of Eden before Adam sinned. This is why God sent His Son, Jesus to bring us back to the Father, God Himself.

“When you’re intimate with someone, not in a sexual way, but have a relationship where you talk consistently with them, it creates a special type of intimacy. That is what God wants and that’s what prayer is: talking to a Holy, Sovereign God. You are special to Him.

“Prayer is not getting God to do things for you, even though He wants to, but getting you to do His will. (v.10) His will does not go against His Word. When we are praying, we are to pray specifically.” Read more »

The single is the title cut of the album and encourages all of us in times of trouble to Pray Now. The single is set to be released this week by Daywind Radio.

“Pray Now” was written by Karen Peck Gooch, Michael Farren and Dave Clark. It was inspired by Karen feeling a strong urgency to pray the Lord’s Prayer and hoping to inspire others to pray in their times of struggle when they are facing life’s biggest storms.

Karen Peck stated, “Over the past year we have said the Lord’s Prayer every day. Sometimes several times a day. We can honestly say that it has strengthened our prayer lives immensely.
