Rod Burton Partners with Compassion International

Written by Scoops Staff on June 3, 2010 – 3:35 pm -

HOMEWOOD, Ill. –Popular soloist Rod Burton recently partnered with Compassion International – a ministry designed to benefit children in poverty stricken nations.

Compassion International is an evangelical Christian child development ministry dedicated to helping children in need around the world. Compassion’s programs help release children from poverty in Jesus’ name and enable them to become responsible, fulfilled adults.

Compassion equips children for the future by providing for their core needs – spiritual, physical, economic and social. By working with the local church, Compassion’s program offers educational opportunities, health care and health-related instruction, supplemental nutrition, if needed, life-skills training and opportunities to hear about and respond to the gospel.

“Compassion International was an easy organization for us to partner with,” mentioned Rod Burton. “We believe in this organization and what they are doing around the world. We look forward to working with them for a very long time.”

Rod and his wife Kelly will be traveling to Columbia this August with Compassion International to meet their sponsored child Jhordan.

“We are so excited about meeting Jhordan,” said Rod. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we can’t thank Compassion enough for allowing us this chance.”

Rod Burton Exits Hinson Revival

Written by Scoops Staff on May 22, 2010 – 8:30 am -

HOMEWOOD, Ill.  – Up and coming soloist Rod Burton is announcing his departure from the newly formed Hinson Revival after this weekend’s dates with the group.  Due to time constraints with Rod’s solo ministry, YMR Music Productions and the Branson Gospel Music Convention, and his family, Rod felt the need to step down from the group in order to focus his energies on those areas of his life.

“I’m grateful for my time with Hinson Revival. I grew up listening to Hinson music and thoroughly enjoyed the time I had to minister with it on stage,” mentioned Rod. “There is nothing like Hinson music. I hope it always continues to bless people with its message. My family and I will continue to support Eric and April in friendship.”

Rod will continue to minister as a solo artist, having recently released his latest CD, The Difference, on New Hope Music Productions, a Nashville-based label he has started with Darrell Webb.

News on Burton’s replacement will be coming from the Hinson Revival camp at a later date.

On the heels of three nominations on the Top 10 ballot for the 2010 Diamond Awards, Rod announced the release of The DifferenceThe Difference was produced by Grammy-winning engineer Adrian Payne and co-produced by Rod’s longtime friend and talented session musician Jason Webb. This recording is the first release for the newly formed New Hope Music Productions.

The Difference
features special guests that have been an encouragement to Rod’s ministry through the years as well.  Grammy winning vocalist Russ Taff makes a special appearance on Rod’s cover of “Water Grave.” The country-rock flavor of the track is a marked departure for the celebrated vocalist. Rod also enlisted the help of Sunday Edition’s Amy Marie Unthank and Chris Unthank on background vocals as well as his daughter Paige Burton and producer Adrian Payne.

Written by Scoops Staff on April 26, 2010 – 2:30 pm -

Songs On Recording Reflect Traditional Favorites and New Songs That Have Truly Made a Difference, Marked Changes For Celebrated Vocalist

New Recording Features Special Guest Vocalist Russ Taff and Many More!

HOMEWOOD, Ill. – On the heels of three nominations on the Top 10 ballot for the 2010 Diamond Awards, rising Southern Gospel soloist Rod Burton is proud to announce the release of his debut recording for New Hope Music Productions – The Difference.

The Difference
was produced by Grammy-winning engineer Adrian Payne and co-produced by Rod’s longtime friend and talented session musician Jason Webb. This recording is the first release for the newly formed New Hope Music Productions – a recording company opened by Burton and Darrell Webb earlier this year.

“This recording is very special for many reasons,” mentioned Rod. “It’s an honor for me to have the first recording of what I hope will be many for New Hope Music Productions. However, even beyond that, these songs all have made a resounding impact on me and my career, and they really help signify this new time in my ministry.”

The Difference features many traditional favorites of the Gospel music community and new songs that have truly made a difference and marked change in Rod’s ministry.

“Beulah Land” took on a new meaning for Rod when he sang it at his father’s funeral in 2005, while “The Bridegroom Cometh” was a song he sang with Charles Feltner as a teenager and was the start of his music career.  “Hallelujah Meeting,” a song Rod now sings as a part of the newly formed Hinson Revival, opened the inaugural Branson Gospel Music Convention last summer – the newest and most talked about Gospel music convention that Rod and his wife started. Rod also recorded “Light of My World,” a song he wrote, in honor of his wife and children.

“So many of these songs have made a huge impact on my life,” mentioned Rod. “It’s exciting to now be able to share them with those that I get the opportunity to minister to.”

The Difference
also features special guests that have been an encouragement to Rod’s ministry through the years as well.

Rod’s personal friend Sue Duffield penned “Son of Man’s Man” specifically for Rod, and the song is an upbeat take on being a man and the kind of man that God has called us to be. Rod also recorded The Roarks’ hit single “There Is a God” which Rod came to love after sharing the stage with the group several times and has been fortunate enough to sing the song in a public high school.

Other tunes featured on the album include “The Old Rugged Cross Made the Difference,” “No Back Roads,” “I Know What He Did For Me,” and many more.

The Difference is now available to purchase online or at live events.  For more information on the new recording, visit http://www.rodburtonmusic.com .

Rod was a featured artist on last week’s Gospel Music Nashville event with the Family Friendly Network. He’s also booked for several high profile events this summer, including SGM FanFair, Branson Gospel Music Convention, and Absolutely Gospel Fan Fest (formerly SoGospelNews.com Fan Fest)!

Rod Burton Scores First Top 80 Hit!

Written by Scoops Staff on November 12, 2009 – 1:54 pm -

Song Has Specific Message for Today’s Times

HOMEWOOD, Ill. – Rising Southern Gospel soloist Rod Burton has scored his first Top 80 single.  According to the December 2009 issue of the Singing News Magazine Top 80 chart, Southern Gospel’s official radio airplay chart, Rod Burton’s “Take a Stand” will debut at #75 on the respected chart.

“I am in awe at just how much God has used this song,” mentioned Rod Burton.  “The message of this song is certainly hitting home to a lot of Christians around this country, and I am so thankful that radio has gotten behind this song!”

In addition to charting on the Singing News Top 80, the song has also been a staple on the GospelMusicTimes.com Top 100 Fan Chart and has charted for multiple weeks on the SoGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart.

“Take a Stand” is the second single from Rod’s latest recording – Walking In the Light and has a message that is specific for the time that the nation and world is in today.

Rod Burton said, “The song starts with ‘The shape the world is in today breaks the Savior’s heart’. It’s not a song that I’d considered sending out, but this past Easter, I was watching the news as we got ready for service. I was so convicted that people need to hear the message of this song, with a chorus that says ‘It’s time for every Christian to rise and take a stand. Proclaim the love of Jesus, all throughout the land’.”

“If there was ever a time that Christians need to stand up and let our voices be heard, it’s now,” Rod continued.  “My hope is not chart positions, but that people all over this country will hear the song and catch the message; that they’ll be encouraged and inspired to stand up to what is wrong and hold on to what is right.”

“Take a Stand” was written by Bobby Carter and is the follow-up to Rod’s last single, the fan-favorite and Top 40 hit “That’s How a Miracle Feels.”  “Take a Stand” is being promoted to Southern Gospel radio through the Rick Hendrix Company.
