Prayers Requested for Chip Hefner

Chip Hefner, son of Southern Gospel Promoters Association President and Southmen Quartet Owner Jim Hefner, suffered a heart attack on Saturday, June 30. 

 Chip was admitted to the Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama where they performed five bypasses.  Jim states, “We got to visit with him last night and he seems to be doing well for what he has been through, but we truly appreciate your continued prayers as he heals and recovers from this setback.”

SOUTHMEN JOIN BSA AGENCY

Jim Hefner, manager of The Southmen Quartet, and Beckie Simmons, owner of The Beckie Simmons Agency, announced today that an agreement has been reached for BSA to handle the Southmen bookings. Hefner stated that he could not be more excited. Hefner also said that he has known Beckie for many years and considers her one of his best friends. She is also one of the hardest working and most respected people in our industry. And that the Southmen are in good hands and are very blessed to be a part of such a great lineup of Artists.
Beckie Simmons states, “with an all-star lineup of Buddy Burton, Eddie Crook, Larry Beck, John Washburn, Buddy Poe, and of course, the one and only Jim Hefner, The Southmen draw their styling from their history with The Statesmen, Happy Goodmans, J. D. Sumner & The Stamps, Masters Five, The Tennesseans, and The Segos.  If you love great Southern Gospel Quartet singing with a touch of humor, you won’t be disappointed with The Southmen.  Be watching for their upcoming TV show, “Singing Down South”, and go out and see them.

SOUTHMEN To Debut New TV Program

Jim Hefner, manager of The Southmen Quartet has announced that plans have been finalized for their new weekly TV show
entitled “Singing Down South”.  Filming will begin in early August.  The Southmen will be the host group.  There will be two
other artists appearing regularly on each show, those artists have yet to be selected.  It will also feature guests each week
and some humorous stories by some of gospel music personalities.
 
Hefner stated that if you do not like southern gospel music, you will not like this program because it will be southern through
and through.  It will look like southern gospel, sound like southern gospel because it is southern gospel.   The program will
air on cable systems throughout the southeast and talks are underway to have the program carried via satellite by a major
cable network.
