NASHVILLE, Tenn.— Premiering in more than 700 movie theaters nationwide for a one-time special presentation, Fathom Events/Fuseic Entertainment’s “Russ Taff: I Still Believe” was the #2 per screen average (PSA) movie in America for the night of October 30, according to data collected by Comscore. With multiple screen sellouts in several cities—including Dallas, Minneapolis, Nashville and Tulsa, Oklahoma—the documentary is one of Fathom Events’ top faith-based music-themed presentations.

“Russ Taff: I Still Believe” chronicles the GRAMMY® and Dove Award winning artist’s unparalleled musical journey and behind-the-scenes battle with alcoholism. Taff candidly reveals how a tumultuous past fueled his own addiction and the ultimate healing he embraced in the power of Christ’s love and forgiveness. Immediately following the presentation, theater audiences were treated to a special acoustic session with Taff and GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriters Amy Grant and Steven Curtis Chapman.

“I had no idea what it would feel like to sit in a theater with many of the people I love most in this world and watch some of my darkest moments and deepest regrets play out,” Taff says of the film’s premiere. “What I was completely unprepared for was the wave of unconditional love, compassion, acceptance and encouragement I felt in telling the truth.”

“Our prayer is that this movie starts a conversation about the impact of addiction and trauma,” he adds. “I believe God can use our story to help coax other hurting people out of the shadows—and that is worth every moment of pain it took to get here.”

“We are humbled and overwhelmed by the response we have received from the movie,” said director Rick Altizer, Fuseic Entertainment. “God has done amazing things with this story. We are hearing from people struggling with addictions or marriage issues who saw the film and recognized their own need for help. It took courage for Russ and Tori to be this honest, and their heart to see others find healing is apparent in ‘I Still Believe.’”

In addition, Taff’s debut praise and worship recording, Believe, bowed last week from Sweetwater Studios, a division of Sweetwater Sound, and with global distribution from The Fuel Music. The full-circle, 12-song release is Taff’s first recording in more than seven years and is available at physical and digitalretailers everywhere.Hailed by Billboard magazine as “the single most electrifying voice in Christian music,” Russ Taff has garnered six GRAMMY® Awards and 18 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards. Inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame an unprecedented three times—as a soloist, as well as a member of The Imperials and the Gaither Vocal Band—Taff is also a member of the Christian Music Hall of Fame and the Arkansas Walk of Fame.

Rising to prominence with The Imperials, trailblazers of the contemporary Christian music movement of the 1970s, Taff was the voice behind such quintessential hits as “Praise the Lord,” “Trumpet of Jesus” and “I’m Forgiven,” among many others. His genre-defying sound later endeared him to Southern Gospel audiences, and he spent nearly three years as a member of the world-renowned Gaither Vocal Band. Taff has recorded 11 solo albums to date, including industry benchmarks Medals (1985), Russ Taff (1987) and Under Their Influence (1991), and his classic singles include “We Will Stand,” “I’m Not Alone,” “Not Gonna Bow” and “Love Is Not A Thing.” From rock giants Kings of Leon to MercyMe’s Bart Millard and Newsboys’ Michael Tait, Taff’s influence is felt throughout the music world.

ACM Award Winner Gordon Mote Celebrates The Season With THE STAR STILL SHINES

Written by SGN Scoops on October 5, 2012 – 3:26 pm -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 5, 2012) – New Haven Records and RSI Music Group have announced that Academy of Country Music award-winner Gordon Mote’s new Christmas project,The Star Still Shines, will hit store shelves October 16. The holiday CD combines Southern Gospel, inspirational, and country music-flavored renditions of new and traditional Christmas songs and carols, including Michael W. Smith’s classic “Emmanuel” and Steven Curtis Chapman’s “Christmas Is All In the Heart.”

In addition to 10 tracks on The Star Still Shines featuring Mote’s warm, engaging vocals, the musician’s award-winning keyboard prowess is spotlighted on the instrumental interludes “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “Away In A Manger,” and “O Come, O Come Emmanuel.” The first single from the project, an exhilarating vocal/keyboard arrangement of “Go Tell It On the Mountain,” releases to radio in November.

“I remember the first Christmas with my wife, Kimberly. We had a little 700-square foot apartment in Nashville and a scrawny little ‘Charlie Brown’ Christmas tree. We crammed our friends and family into that tiny living room, dimmed the lights and sang Christmas carols. What sweet days those were … simple, yet so full,” Mote reflects. “Now that we have children of our own, we are blessed with new memories. It is our prayer that as you listen to these songs, you, too, will sit back and think of all you have to be thankful for this Christmas.”

“From poignant to powerful, this CD celebrates the ‘Christ’ in Christmas in the fresh, creative, and heartfelt manner that has made Gordon one of the brightest emerging artists in music today,” says Ken Harding, president of New Haven Records. “It’s the kind of fun, yet meaningful, music you want playing while you decorate the tree or sit down for Christmas dinner. We are thrilled to bring the world another extraordinary project from this amazing artist.”

The Star Still Shines is New Haven’s second Gordon Mote release in 2012, following Songs I Grew Up Singing, an inspiring musical diary of landmark songs that not only shaped his music and ministry, but also inspired a generation of Gospel music lovers. Singles from that project include Mote’s renditions of the Hinson’s hit “Call Me Gone” and the Gaither classic, “This Is the Time I Must Sing.”

Gordon Mote headshot About Gordon Mote:
Mote, who recently was voted “Top Piano/Keyboard Player of the Year” at the 44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, began playing piano at the age of 3 and toured with his family’s singing group until his undeniable talent made him an award-winning Nashville sessions player (Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Rascal Flatts, Lionel Richie, Alison Krauss). Mote recently wrapped up a six-year stint singing and playing for the popular Gaither Homecoming concerts and recordings so that he could devote more time to his family and expanding solo career.

The vocalist and keyboardist extraordinaire has been blind since birth, but his words and music reach beyond the ears to the heart. More than his undeniable talent, Mote’s fans appreciate his ability to communicate the love of Christ to a world in need of hope.

Mote’s fans can read more about the keyboardist in the October 2012 issue of Singing News where he will be featured as the cover story.
