Multi-chart Success for New StowTown Releases

Multi-chart Success for New StowTown Releases

Nashville, TN  – August was a banner month for StowTown Records. With the release of two CDs and one live concert DVD, the label has had plenty to keep them busy. The fans are showing their love for these projects, as the last few weeks of Nielsen Christian SoundScan (a division of Nielsen Entertainment) numbers give the artists, as well as StowTown, cause to celebrate.

The Healing, by TaRanda Greene, claimed the #1 spot on the Inspirational chart for the week ending August 16. The Healing also came in at #13 on the Current Contemporary Christian chart and at #22 on the Christian/Gospel chart. As an added bonus, This Changes Everything, by Cana’s Voice, was #3 on the Inspirational chart for the same week.

For the week ending August 23, Fanny Crosby: Newly Discovered Hymns & Songs, another StowTown release from earlier this year, took the #1 spot on the Southern chart. This multi-artist compilation project remained in the Top Ten on the chart the following week and was also in the Top Ten the week prior to its #1 ranking.

Additionally, The Erwins’ new project, Watch & See, made its chart debut at #2 on the Southern chart for the week ending August 30. With their other two StowTown projects also featured on the Southern chart, they anticipate strong sales numbers for Watch & See in the upcoming weeks.

Landon Beene, CEO of StowTown Records, couldn’t be more encouraged by these robust numbers. “With all of the time, money and resources invested in creating great music, it is so encouraging to see the response of the fans. It’s easy to create media buzz, but the sales numbers tell the truth behind the quality of the music produced and, more importantly, the people being touched by the music.”

The August releases, The Healing and Watch & See, also garnered Top Ten spots on the iTunes Christian & Gospel chart. All of these StowTown projects are distributed by Sony/Provident and are available in retail and digital outlets worldwide.

The Erwins: Paving A New Road

The Erwins

The Erwins

“Gospel music isn’t reaching our youth anymore. It’s dying out.” Have you ever heard that statement before at a Gospel music event? I heard it more than my share of times, both as an attendee and as an artist. Each time, I would cringe inside because it hurt to hear that as a young person involved in gospel music.

I grew up on this music. I was in the audience at the Cathedrals’ Campmeeting Live taping under the tent. I’ve walked the halls of Louisville, Kentucky’s Freedom Hall and heard the echoes of great young talent from the main stage of the National Quartet Convention. I’ve seen the lines of teenagers at a concert who have lined up to take a selfie with their favorite singer, or to have that CD signed that they just bought from the product table, so it’s hard for me to swallow the statement that gospel music is dying, and it doesn’t reach young people anymore.

This month’s cover (April 2016) features a family group full of young people serving in many different capacities more than just musically. They’re truly paving a new road for Gospel music lovers all over the country, and the results are astounding. They’ve signed with a record label, released their new project, exploded onto the main stage of the National Quartet Convention, and even sung at the Dove Awards! I’m talking about the Erwins, from the great state of Texas.

The Erwins’ ministry began many years ago, with their father, Dennis Erwin answering the call to preach the gospel. “My dad, Dennis Erwin, began preaching the gospel at the age of 20,” Keith describes. “He traveled to every church, rescue mission, and jailhouse that would have him. Seventeen years into his solo ministry, as a 37-year-old single man, he met Tiffany Duke at a tent revival he was serving in. A year or so later, they got married, and the rest is history! I was born two years later and when I turned 18 months old, Dad had me in the studio to sing “Jesus Loves Me” and “The B-I-B-L-E” on one of his recordings. The same story goes for all four siblings. As soon as we could talk, we were singing. As we all grew, we began to sing harmony, and my brothers and I formed a trio. When Katie started singing harmony, we added her and our ministry became what it is today.”

StowTown Records Announces the Signing of Rambo McGuire

Written by Staff on June 30, 2016 – 5:38 pm -

June 30, 2016 (Nashville, TN)… StowTown Records is very excited to announce the addition of longtime fan-favorite family group, Rambo McGuire, to its ever-increasing group of popular gospel artists.

Rambo McGuire has a long history in gospel music, beginning over 30 years ago as a husband and wife duo with GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning artists and songwriters, Dony McGuire and Reba Rambo-McGuire.

The family harmony continues today as a trio with their daughter Destiny Rambo-McGuire joining them on vocals. The group continues a long Rambo family legacy of music, spanning three generations from the late Buck Rambo to his granddaughter, Destiny.

“The Rambos were influential on most of the leaders in our industry today,” said StowTown Records co-founder Wayne Haun. “Their music was certainly playing throughout our house from the day I was brought home to the day I left for college. Now, their legacy continues and, for me, to play a small role in their future is humbling.”

Their unique style of singing and songwriting gives Rambo McGuire the ability to appeal to a variety of audiences as they can perform a diversity of musical genres, including contemporary Christian, praise and worship, country, bluegrass, as well as Southern Gospel.

Rambo McGuire continues to travel and sing in churches and concert venues throughout the country and is also featured on the Gaither Homecoming video series.

The group’s debut album for StowTown, Rambo Classics, is set to release in November.

The project features famous, chart-topping songs written and once performed by the late Dottie Rambo and also highlights the special legendary voice of Hall of Famer, Buck Rambo, during his final recorded album before his recent passing.

Rambo McGuire is so ecstatic about partnering with our dear friends at StowTown Records!” exclaimed Reba. “Not only our new fresh versions of timeless Rambo songs will be released, but other exciting projects are in the works. Can somebody say, “Hallelujah?!”

The first radio single, “Tears Will Never Stain the Streets of that City” ships June 30.

Rambo Classics, distributed by Provident/Sony, will release to the general public November 4.

Founded in 2011 and expanded in 2014, StowTown Records reflects the musical vision of Ernie Haase and Wayne Haun, in partnership with Landon Beene and Nate Goble. The independent label is the creative home for top artists including Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, The Perrys, The Collingsworth Family, Doug Anderson, Devin McGlamery, The Taylors, Cana’s Voice, The Browns, The Little Roy & Lizzy Show, Triumphant, TaRanda Greene, The Erwins, Trey Ivey, Jody McBrayer, Rambo McGuire, Charles Billingsley and selected classic music from The Cathedrals, their legendary bass singer, George Younce, and The Cathedrals Family Reunion. Bryan Walker

Bryan Walker

StowTown Recording artists The Perrys have announced Bryan Walker will be leaving the group. Libbi Stuffle says, “Bryan has given his resignation, and we will be introducing a new vocalist to the Perrys line-up in the near future. We will announce the process to fill the vacancy as soon as plans are finalized.” There is no official final performance date for Bryan at this time.

Bryan, who joined the Perrys in 2010, says it has been a hard decision, but feels God has a new season in store for him. “I have the utmost respect for Tracy and Libbi Stuffle, and I’ve had a great time traveling with the Perrys. Especially this past year and a half, God has allowed me to learn things about myself, Him, and the ministry in general. It has been my hope that God has used me for a span of time to uphold the Perrys and help move them forward in their ministry. I love the Perrys and will do everything I can to support them as they continue their ministry.”
When Bryan shared his decision to come off the road with the Perrys, it was focused on he and wife Bethany’s desire to spend more time together and eventually start a family. However, Bryan says the day after he gave his notice, he was at a revival at his home church and re-surrendered the call to preach, a call he first surrendered to at age 18. “There is no doubt the timing is confirmation that God has a new season in store, and I’m excited for that. I would ask that you pray for my wife and me as we wait to see what this is actually going to look like in the future, and of course also please pray for the Perrys as they seek the person God would have for their group.”
Libbi says, “If I’ve learned anything in my life, especially in the past 21 months, it’s that God is faithful. We know He has a great plan for both Bryan and for the Perrys, too. We wish him and Bethany all the best and will be watching with everyone else to see what great things God does for and through them. As for The Perrys, we will continue to do our best to share the life-changing gospel of Christ through our music.”
