Update on Eli.. Please Pray!

Written by scoopsnews on April 12, 2017 – 10:45 am -

Eli Fortner

Eli Fortner

From Roger Fortner (Dad)

Here’s an update on Eli:

Just a personal update from Eli and The McKameys concerning Eli’s health — Eli has been slowly experiencing more kidney related health issues and the doctor is concerned that his body could be getting into some trouble and needs help! At this time, they will be putting in a port and starting dialysis to give him some help. We would like to say we appreciate all the prayers that have already went up for Eli and we ask that you continue praying for him, as he will be starting another transplant process in a couple of weeks! We are overwhelmed at the many friends that have stepped up and shown an interest in being tested for a possible donor. After we meet with the transplant team we will know what you will need to do! We love you! Eli said “he hopes to see you all real soon!”

Eli Fortner in need of new kidney

Eli Fortner

Eli Fortner

Eli Fortner has been in need of prayers in the last few days due to the kidney problems he has been experiencing. Now Eli confirms what will be the next step. On his Facebook page, Fortner tells us:

“To all my friends. I love you. I’m overwhelmed with all the support and prayers. I simply can’t keep up. Now let me tell you what’s going on.. My kidney is failing, I’m in need of another transplant. My doctor gave me the option of going on dialysis now or waiting till the function gets to a certain point while in the meantime be looking for a kidney donor and getting testing done in prep for a transplant. I chose the latter so I can still have a life. I was on dialyses for two months before my first transplant and it’s awful. It literally sucks all the life out of you and is terrible on the body. I don’t want that AT ALL. My prayer is that they find a positive match and have the transplant before it gets worse. I desire all the prayers. My God is big and I’m in His hands. He will not fail me and I know that you, my friends won’t either with your prayers and support. I love you all. Let’s do this.”

SGNScoops joins with all of our readers in extending our thoughts and prayers to Eli, the Fortners, McKameys and all of their family and friends. We agree with all of you and Eli that we serve a big God. We know He saves and we know He heals. Let’s go to the throne today to petition our God for a new kidney that is a perfect match and a swift and successful transplant.

Eli Fortner is the son of Roger and Connie (McKamey) Forner. He is a vocalist and musician with The McKameys as well as being a freelance musician. Eli lives in Clinton, Tennessee.

The McKameys

McKameys 2

The McKameys

A little about the McKameys:

The group first organized in 1954 as a trio of sisters: Dora, Peg, and Carol McKamey. Because their father was a Christian minister, the girls grew up singing in church. One day Dora announced to her astonished sisters that they were going to sing with her in church the next Sunday as a trio. “She gathered us up in her kitchen, started singing and we each found our parts,” Peg explained. “We just thought we were gonna sing that one time, in her home church, but different people heard us and invited us to sing at their church or at revivals. Then out of town evangelists heard us at the revivals and invited us to come to their church and we started traveling to Florida and Indiana and Ohio, and that’s how it all started.”

The McKameys are still going strong today and a favorite when it comes to good ole “heartfelt” southern gospel.

From time to time we hear from our readers about battles they are facing.  If you are going through a battle today, let this McKameys song remind you to look ahead.

HE is Right on Time!

Enjoy!

McKameys: Christmas Is About Family

Written by Staff on December 1, 2015 – 10:55 am -

mck chrWhen it comes time for the holiday season, nothing is better than the time you spend with family. Around Christmas it seems as though we start to think back over the year and look at or accomplishments. Along with our reminiscing, most of the time this includes a house mckameys-christmas-cover (1)full of family that sometimes you only get to see certain times of the year.   We all cherish those special moments spent surrounded by the ones we love.

As for the McKameys – they are surrounded with family year round, and they wouldn’t have it any other way!

In 1954 a group of sisters known as The McKameys started singing Southern Gospel Music. Bring them to the current year and now hailing from Clinton, Tennessee the McKameys have been McKameys 03-2014 (5)traveling full time since 1980. The Lord has been exceedingly great to this family and has blessed them with good health, good songs, and good dates. They travel approximately 140 dates a year, which means they spend more than half a year surrounded by family on a bus!

The McKameys now consists of Reuben and Peg Bean, their daughters,

Peg McKamey

Connie Fortner and Sheryl Farris, as well as grandson, Eli Fortner.  Since 1980 they have always traveled with family, and their mission has always been the same – to carry the good news of the gospel to a lost and dying world. They want to encourage the saints everywhere. If you were to ask any fan of this great family, there is no doubt that every single time they step on stage the Lord uses them to bless someone in their audience.   They have such a sweet spirit about them, and they are always ready and willing to take the time to speak to and pray with their fans.

They love traveling together as a family, and while on the road they frequent the shopping malls of nearby towns where they are singing. While the women do

the shopping, you’ll typically find the men in the nearest bookstore!

The ladies also do Bible studies on the bus, as well as practicing songs while riding down the highways.

When traveling this close together with family all the time one might would think the holidays would be nothing new. That is definitely not the case with this close family. Peg stated that they love and treasure their time together. Christmas and Thanksgiving are no different for the McKameys when it comes to family. Even though they are always together on the road, there’s no question that they take time to treasure the holidays together and no doubt that includes many more family members.

mckameysThe McKameys are a true example of what it truly means to stand for what’s right, and have your family by your side every step of the way.

There is no question in my mind that this amazing group cherishes fan time as much as family time. In fact, they have a hometown sing every year, and they invite you to come out and meet their family and enjoy a great time in the Lord.

Next year it will be on June 10-11, 2016. Reserved tickets go on sale through their 11079office the first Monday in April. Office hours are 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Thursday with lunch from 11:30-12:30 EST.  You can reach them by phone at 865-457-3678, or check out their website www.mckameysonline.com.

The McKameys announce that Roger Fortner will be coming off the road

The McKameys announce that after 28 years of traveling with the group Roger Fortner will be coming off the road to return to the studio.
Roger gave this statement, “I’ve spent 28 years with the McKameys and now I feel I need to move on to do what I have enjoyed doing, which is studio production. I ask that you support the McKameys in all they do. There’s not another group like them.”
Although Roger will no longer be on stage with the McKameys, for now he will continue maintaining their website. We ask for your prayers as we make this transition.
