Lisa Chesser Williamson Recovering From Surgery

Recovering From Surgery

Nashville, TN – Last Saturday, Lisa Chesser-Williamson was taken to Phoenix Indian Medical Center with severe abdominal pain. Tests confirmed the appendicitis diagnosis and surgery was performed immediately.
Lisa is recovering well and is expected to be released from the hospital on Tuesday. “The support has been overwhelming. People have contacted us nonstop since we’ve been here. Prayers have been answered. The surgery went well. She is in pain but otherwise doing great! We haven’t missed any of our services. Our eleven year old daughter Sadie stepped up to the plate and filled her mother’s spot – and she did it very well might I add! She is already an amazing talent. I’m anxious to see what God has in store for her life,”  stated Donnie Williamson.
The Williamsons, based out of Oklahoma, are coming off a banner year that included numerous award nominations including Songwriter of the Year nominations for Lisa Chesser-Williamson. They were also honored with their first Singing News #1 song, “Shout.” Currently, their new hit song, “Monday,” is # 30 on the Singing News national charts.

FUN FACT FRIDAY with the Freemans on SGN Scoops

Written by Staff on September 4, 2015 – 6:52 am -

Freemans 2015

Freemans 2015

We have made it another week. Only 58 days until Creekside 2015! One of our fabulous artists who are joining us on Nov 2-5 is the Freemans. They are Diamond Award winners and chart-toppers, with wonderful Country-Southern-Progressive vocals. You will want to come to Pigeon Forge, TN for this group alone!

This week I got an inside look of memories and road life with The Freemans. Check it out…

Q: What is your favorite singing memory?
Chris: “I have been singing too many years for me to go back and try to single out a favorite moment, but one that definitely stands out in my mind is the first time I won The Queen of Gospel Music.”
Darrell: “My favorite memory was performing in The Dominican Republic at the school in the inner city. They were the loudest crowd ever for the number. They were hungry for gospel music.”
Joe: “My favorite singing memory was recently, in Branson, when the fantastic crowd we had on the Branson Belle at the end of the concert stood and clapped forever. It made the whole group and I feel so wonderful. It was priceless! We sang, “Lead Me Home,” and so many people left with joy restored and peace; knowing that their loved ones were in a better place.”
Misty: “My favorite singing memory is the first week I brought Addie on the road. She wouldn’t let anyone else hold her and I had to do all the concerts with her in my arms.”
Caylon: “My favorite singing memory was the first ‘Legends on the Sea’ cruise, and being able to have fun and perform with some of the most talented artists in the world.”

Q: What is your favorite pasttime while on the road?
Chris: “I read a lot, as well as make bracelets and play games. I got hooked on that when Caylon was very young. We would play Mario for hours on the bus just to keep him entertained. He would pat me on the back and tell me I was the greatest mom in the world because I played Mario with him. I might add that I was GREAT at it, Lol!”
Darrell: “I get up a little late during road time. I look for lunch or breakfast, watch a little TV and then get ready for business for the King. I always can’t wait!”
Joe: “The other one is a hard one, because I am usually driving. If I am not driving, I am in the buddy seat looking out enjoying God’s creation.”
Misty: “I like to read during my down time on the bus.”
Caylon: “My favorite pasttime on the road is reading. I have read countless books over 14 years while on the road.”

The Williamsons Take On New Role As Warriors

Written by Staff on July 9, 2015 – 12:56 pm -

Williamsons

Williamsons

Weleetka, OK (July 6, 2015) The award-nominated Williamsons travel around the world sharing the Gospel message through music, but this doesn’t keep them from forgetting their home town of Wetumka, Oklahoma.

Summer is always filled with sounds of laughter and children playing in the beautiful sunshine. It’s also the time you will experience the sights and sounds of baseball. This summer The Williamsons sponsored a Kiwanis Little League team called The Williamsons Warriors.

Their coaches, Melissa and Jonathan Sorrell had this to say about the team, “Our 2015, age nine and ten baseball season was fun but came with challenges too; it’s called rain and rain outs! We feel our team did very well and made the most of every opportunity to practice, even during rain out weeks. As a team they learned to trust each other more and help in their weaknesses and share strengths. We learned more fundamentals about pitching, catching and stealing bases that will help them in their years to come. As coaches, we had a great time teaching them, building relationships with them, and supporting them. It was a lot of fun. We started with 11 boys and ended the season with 9, so most games we had just enough to play. The sponsorship of the Williamson’s was a blessing to us and our team. We are the Wetumka Williamsons Warriors!”

Donnie Williamson, baritone and manager of The Williamsons said, “We are proud of The Warriors and appreciate the hard work and dedication shown by them and their coaches. I’m so glad we could be a part of their 2015 season.”

The Williamsons believe that part of being a Christian witness is to reach beyond the concert halls and give back to their home community and this is just one way that they are able to give back and let their hearts show that they love people beyond just their singing ministry.

In other news for The Williamsons their current radio release has stayed in the Top Ten at number 4 on the Absolutely Gospel Music Weekly Chart. This is the second straight release for them to break into the top ten.

About The Williamsons

The Williamsons began sharing the Gospel through music in 1998 as The Homesteaders Quartet. The dream of Donnie Williamson was to form a group to sing classic Gospel music on a limited basis. What he wanted to do never occurred. From the group’s onset their demand was overwhelming. Soon they were performing more than 100 dates a year. For the past several years The Williamsons have been in full time Christian ministry and entertainment and have traveled across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Their music has been in national charts and were they honored to be nominated  for Breakthrough Artist and Favorite Group awards at the Absolutely Gospel Fan Awards. Absolutely Gospel also named them as one of the Top Ten Groups to Watch, as well as  in the Top Ten for Best New Mixed Group in the Singing News Fan Awards.

Their high energy musical style appeals to people of all ages. The versatility of The Williamsons is evident through the wide variety of musical styles they perform. There is always something for everyone. The marketing of their performances targets families and not just fans of any particular type of music. Spending an evening with The Williamsons is sure to be one that will lift you up, bless you, and entertain you all at the same time. Their primary desire is to share the Gospel in such a way that those in attendance who do not know Jesus Christ will come to know him before the program is over.

Fire Destroys Home Church Of The Williamsons Bass Singer

Written by Staff on May 11, 2015 – 10:52 am -

imageWeleetka, OK (May, 11, 2015) Early last week the Allen Free Will Baptist Church in Weleetka, OK experienced a total loss of their facility due to a fire. AFWBC is the home church of Darin Hebert, well known bass singer with The Williamsons.

The church building was very old. Portions of the building were constructed over 100 years ago in the nearby town of Bryant, Oklahoma. In the 1930s the structure was moved by horses and cart to its current site just outside of Weleetka city limits on Highway 75.

imageNot only is it Darin’s home church but it also has a rich history within the Williamson family. Group baritone Donnie Williamson attended this church as a boy and it is the place where original Williamson Family member Tennie (Williamson) Polson received Christ as her Savior. Donnie’s father, Rev. Woody Williamson, once served as pastor.

Bass singer Darin Hebert commented, “My emotions are running very high right now, while this a lot of history for many families destroyed, at the same time I know that God will take what Satan has meant for harm and turn it to our good.”

Please keep Rev. Donnie LeForce, pastor, and the entire congregation of the church in your prayers. Anyone wishing to donate to the reconstruction of the facility may send donations to the Allen Free Will Baptist Church (Fire Fund), c/o the Mabrey Bank, PO Box 248, Weleetka, Oklahoma, 74880.

imageDonnie Williamson stated, “Our prayer is that this tragedy will be the start of a new era for this ministry. ‘And we know that all things work together for the good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose’, Romans 8:28.”

In other news for the Williamsons their new radio single “Shout” hit the Absolutely Gospel Music Chart at #28 last week and is racing up the chart at #17 for the week of May 11th.
