National Quartet Convention Announces the NQC Music Awards Nominees

Written by SGN Scoops on July 24, 2012 – 9:55 am -

Louisville, KY – The National Quartet Convention has announced the 2012 nominees for the NQC Music Awards.  In partnership with the Southern Gospel Music Guild, the NQC will present these awards on Friday afternoon during the Friday afternoon Showcase Spectacular in Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY, on September 14.

According to the NQC Executive Vice President, Clarke Beasley, the awards will be presented based on both fan popularity and professional excellence, with two divisions of awards that will be presented.  The first division is the  Fan Awarded categories where awards will be determined by fan voting.   The second division will be the Industry Awarded Categories, which will be determined by the music professionals that participate as exhibitors during the National Quartet Convention. No purchase was required for those that are participating in the voting. All that was required is that they were registered on the NQC e-mail list prior to July 1st.

Beasley also states that the Southern Gospel Music Guild is an important partner in this process, as the SGMG is responsible for determining the category criteria, as well as screen entries for eligibility.  The SGMG professional membership also determines the recipient of the annual Les Beasley Award, given to a person or company that has made a significant impact in the field of Gospel Music.

Below is a complete list of the nominees for the 2012 NQC Music Awards.

Collingsworth Family to Headline 44th Annual Brumley Gospel Sing

Written by SGN Scoops Staff on June 26, 2012 – 10:41 am -

LEBANON, MO. – For the second straight year, The Collingsworth Family will be one of the headliners at the 44th Annual Brumley Gospel Sing Aug. 1-4, at the state-of-the-art Kenneth E. Cowan Civic Center in Lebanon, located at 500 East Elm Street.

The Collingsworth Family returns to Lebanon for the 2012 Brumley Gospel Sing

The Collingsworth Family returns to the Brumley Gospel Sing for two performances on Thursday (Aug. 2) – one morning show at 10 a.m. and an afternoon matinee at 1 p.m. This family group tours and performs together throughout the country as well as internationally. Excitement, family emphasis and musical excellence are what you can expect when this group of talented, southern gospel artists steps out onto the stage. The Collingsworth Family is a favorite among southern gospel music lovers, as evidenced by ten Top 40 gospel hits, including Fear Not Tomorrow, Bottom of the Barrel and I Know. This popular group has also won four Ovation Awards for gospel music excellence.

“The response to The Collingsworth Family was so great last year, we had to schedule two shows this year to meet the demand,” said Duane Garren, director of marketing and promotion for Brumley Music. “If you like gospel music, their show is really a must-see. They’re all extremely talented and they’ve got a nine-foot grand piano on stage that just adds to the sound of the show. They’re truly one of the most inspirational gospel acts in the business.”

GRAMMY winners Triumphant Quartet will perform at this year’s Brumley Gospel Sing in Lebanon
More than 30 different acts will be featured at the Brumley Gospel Sing this year. This four-day southern gospel music festival will present nationally known groups like GRAMMY nominated Triumphant Quartet. This southern gospel quartet was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2009 for best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album and has been named the Singing News’ Favorite Male Quartet of the Year for the past three years. Some of the other acclaimed artists to be featured at the Gospel Sing are The Booth Brothers, Karen Peck & New River, Greater Vision, Kingsmen and many more. A complete line-up of performers and times of performances is available at www.BrumleyMusic.com.

The Booth Brothers return to Lebanon for this year’s Brumley Gospel Sing

Reserved seats for children and adults are available in a four-night package for $75 per person; matinee show tickets are not included in the cost of this package. Tickets to morning and/or matinee performances can be purchased separately for $17 per person. General admission adult seats for evening performances are $17 for one night, $30 for two nights, $40 for three nights or $50 for all four nights. General admission tickets for children ages 6-12 (matinee or evening performances) are $5 per child. And, children age five and under are admitted free with the purchase of an adult admission. Tickets purchased at the door will cost $3.00 more than advance ticket purchases. Bus tours and church groups are encouraged to call 800-435-3725 to order tickets and to inquire about discounts that are available to groups of 20 or more people. The general public can also call for more information about the Brumley Gospel Sing or visit www.BrumleyMusic.com.

“The excitement throughout Lebanon is starting to build already for this year’s event,” said Lebanon’s Director of Tourism Judy Fortner. “It’s an honor to welcome the Brumley Gospel Sing back to our city. It takes a lot of Lebanon folks to roll out the welcome mat for all our guests who will be here for this annual festival, because we want to do it right. From our friendly people that work in our restaurants and hotels to the friendly people who will help welcome festival attendees to the Cowan Civic Center, everyone is gearing up for this event. We take our hosting responsibilities seriously, like directing people to parking spaces, escorting them to their seats or giving directions to the concession stands – everything we do will add to a great festival experience. Even the smallest details matter.”

Known as the “Granddaddy of All Gospel Sings” the Brumley Gospel Sing is a four-day event honoring the late Albert E. Brumley, a world-renowned gospel songwriter and the author of the legendary songs I’ll Fly Away, Turn Your Radio On and He Set Me Free. Organizers predict that attendance at the scheduled performances throughout the Gospel Sing will total more than 30,000.

According to Fortner, an on-site survey taken at the festival last year indicated that a large percentage of the audience members were repeat visitors from out-of-town who attend this event year after year. “Our goal is to show these loyal Brumley Gospel Sing fans a good time, every time,” she added.
