Troy Burns Family wows audiences with their 26 city “Bringing Good News” Christmas Tour

Last night in Mount Juliet, TN, the Troy Burns Family were on day 8 of their 26 city “Bringing Good News” Christmas tour. Before the first song was sung, the Christmas spirit was already filling the room with the lights and decor on the stage.

The show began with pianist, Jacob Klutz, performing a medley of Christmas favorites. Troy Burns, his wife, Tammy, and Shane Mathis then took the stage. Their first song was “Good News” which Burns has sang many times before as a 30-year member of The Inspirations who recorded the song in the 80’s.

Troy Burns Family wows audiences with their 26 city “Bringing Good News” Christmas TourThe audience enjoyed hearing Christmas favorites like “Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem” and “Away In A Manger” as they were performed in tight family harmony. The stage lighting was just enough to secure the mood of the night while subtle enough to where it wasn’t a distraction. You should have seen the eyes light up all over the auditorium when snow began falling from the snow machines high above the set.

In addition to the traditional Christmas songs found in church hymnals, the Troy Burns Family also sang feel-good classics like “Winter Wonderland”, “Jingle Bell Rock” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”. This was followed by a touching song about those we love who are spending Christmas “With The Son Of God”.

It sounded like a well-rehearsed mass choir when the audience was asked to participate and sing along to Christmas carols like “Joy To The World”. One of our favorite moments was when they performed a beautiful version of “Noel” with full multi-media playing on the big screen in the background. Vocalist, Shane Mathis, who is also an ordained minister, offered a beautiful reading and gave a heartfelt testimony. It was a night designed for all ages to promote Christ in Christmas that genuinely felt like a family gathering. And talk about “Bringing Good News”, 8 people have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior so far on this tour.

Troy and Tammy Burns

Last Sunday night, East Cobb Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia hosted the Troy Burns Family. This has been an annual stop for the group.  The most outstanding song of the evening was when Troy sang “Mary Did You Know.”  The crowd gave a great applause after he finished. He was accompanied on most songs with his wife Tammy. They are currently looking for a baritone singer to join them.

Nashville, TN December 29, 2014  Les Butler and Southern Gospel Music legend Troy Burns recently announced an artist management agreement between Butler Music Group and the Troy Burns Family.

When asked about working with the Troy Burns Family, Butler Music Group’s Les Butler said, “In my 37 years of interviewing artists on the radio the names Kenny Hinson, Rusty Goodman, Glen Payne, and Troy Burns are most often referred to as mentors when talking to today’s top lead singers.  To say I’m honored to work with one of my heroes is an understatement. The music and sound of the Troy Burns Family is in my sweet spot – a little bit southern, a little bit bluegrass, a little bit country, but all Gospel!”

While discussing Butler Music Group, Troy Burns added, “We are celebrating 50 years in Southern Gospel Music.  Over the years, we have experienced almost every whim and means to promote our ministry.  We are always striving to find ways to best maximize exposure for sales and concert dates in an effort to effectively share Jesus Christ.  It’s with a breath of fresh air that the Troy Burns Family has joined with Butler Music Group.”  Burns continues, “The President of BMG, Les Butler, is no stranger to the Southern Gospel Music industry.  His tenure with The Singing News Magazine and Front Porch Fellowship has etched in stone his leadership and honest approach to management.  Troy Burns Family believes that hard work, dedication to Christ, strong relationships with industry leaders coupled with cutting edge technology – is still the very best way to accomplish God’s work.  Troy Burns Family blasts into 2015 with a new zeal and determination and a new team.”

About the Troy Burns Family

Troy Burns traveled and sang lead as a founding member of the Inspirations for 30 years.   Today, Troy and his family travel and sing as the Troy Burns Family.  Close family harmony and loving Jesus is what the Troy Burns Family is all about.  Troy also travels with the popular quartet, Archie Watkins and Smoky Mountain Reunion.  He has recorded over 700 songs in his career including iconic tunes such as “Jesus is Coming Soon,” “Touring that City,” “Is that Footsteps?” and many more.  He has performed in over 6,000 concerts and has been a regular on The Gospel Singing Jubilee and other television programs.  Troy has truly earned the title “Gospel Music Legend” and is seen as a vocal inspiration to many young artists today.

Troy’s wife Tammy has had formal training as a singer and sang for The Sound of Youth from Robbinsville, North Carolina.  Tammy Burns is the only female to travel and sing with The Inspirations Quartet from Bryson City North Carolina.  In the 1980s, Tammy toured for 3 months and sang tenor with The Inspirations at every date during that tenure.  Tammy’s voice has been compared to Patsy Cline and Barbara Streisand.  She will win your heart when you hear her sing.

The newest member of Troy Burns Family is Roland Kesterson, a 30 year old preacher from Crossville, Tennessee.  Roland became a Christ follower at age 11 and was called to preach at 14.  He sang with his family growing up and then sang for the bluegrass group, Set Apart, for 7 years.  Roland has been nominated several times as the top male vocalist in Bluegrass Gospel Music via the Front Porch Fellowship Bluegrass Gospel Fan Awards.  He has written and recorded several songs that have charted in Singing News Magazine.  His smooth harmonies form a third part for Troy Burns Family that is unparalleled in Southern Gospel Music.
