TaRanda & Triumphant Quartet Honored at 50th GMA Dove Awards

Written by Staff on October 18, 2019 – 7:08 pm -

TaRanda Releases The HealingNashville, TN (October 16, 2019) – StowTown Records artists, TaRanda Greene and Triumphant Quartet, were honored with wins at this year’s GMA Dove Awards. TaRanda was honored with Inspirational Song of the Year for “When The Healing Comes.

Triumphant Quartet’s 2019 release, Yes, was named Southern Gospel Album of the Year.

When The Healing Comes” was written by TaRanda, Geron Davis, Wayne Haun and Joel Lindsey and is on her 2018 release The Healing. While the song itself was birthed out of TaRanda’s personal story, it has been a balm for many who suffer from personal tragedies.

TaRanda expressed her gratitude, “I’m still a bit overwhelmed. I didn’t see this one coming. Every nominee in the category was so worthy to win the Dove. I’m grateful to be in such beautiful company, and I’m grateful to have so many amazing people cheering me on. When my name was called, my thoughts scattered, and I failed to say thank you to so many people who helped make this song what it is…people like Nate Goble, my record label, Stowtown Records, Provident Distribution, Jason Webb, Wayne Haun, every musician and singer, Ronnie Brookshire, who spent endless hours behind a console engineering and mixing the song. There are just so many people, from the marketing team to fans, who encourage me with messages about this song. I’m overwhelmed by the love I receive on a daily basis from my husband and my children. They are the heart and soul of what I do. I am a very blessed woman…every day. I’m so grateful to my Heavenly Father for giving me this life and the opportunities that come along in it. He is just so good!”

TaRanda & Triumphant Quartet Honored at 50th GMA Dove AwardsTriumphant Quartet is celebrating their first Dove Award win. Yes was produced by Wayne Haun and Gordon Mote. In addition to being nominated, Triumphant Quartet sang “Jesus is Coming Soon” on the televised program.

Scotty Inman of Triumphant shares, “We are truly blown away. The four of us recently began our 18th year as a group, and the Lord continues to pour out blessings on our ministry. We truly hope this award is a sign of what the songs on the album are doing to help grow the Body of Christ. Again, thank you to the GMA and its voters!”

“It’s difficult to put into words how elated I am today,” says Wayne Haun. “I personally see how hard these artists work to get to the finish line of a project. There might not be blood, but plenty of sweat and tears during the process, so to watch as their fellow GMA members honor them gives me hope that what we do is worth it. Lives are truly changed through the power of this music and the eternal impact of its message.”

The 50th Dove Awards show was live streamed on Sirius XM and will air on TBN on October 20 at 8:00 PM EST.

The Erwins: Paving A New Road

Written by Staff on July 15, 2016 – 8:32 am -

The Erwins

The Erwins

“Gospel music isn’t reaching our youth anymore. It’s dying out.” Have you ever heard that statement before at a Gospel music event? I heard it more than my share of times, both as an attendee and as an artist. Each time, I would cringe inside because it hurt to hear that as a young person involved in gospel music.

I grew up on this music. I was in the audience at the Cathedrals’ Campmeeting Live taping under the tent. I’ve walked the halls of Louisville, Kentucky’s Freedom Hall and heard the echoes of great young talent from the main stage of the National Quartet Convention. I’ve seen the lines of teenagers at a concert who have lined up to take a selfie with their favorite singer, or to have that CD signed that they just bought from the product table, so it’s hard for me to swallow the statement that gospel music is dying, and it doesn’t reach young people anymore.

April 2016 SGNScoops Magazine

April 2016 SGNScoops Magazine

This month’s cover (April 2016) features a family group full of young people serving in many different capacities more than just musically. They’re truly paving a new road for Gospel music lovers all over the country, and the results are astounding. They’ve signed with a record label, released their new project, exploded onto the main stage of the National Quartet Convention, and even sung at the Dove Awards! I’m talking about the Erwins, from the great state of Texas.

The Erwins’ ministry began many years ago, with their father, Dennis Erwin answering the call to preach the gospel. “My dad, Dennis Erwin, began preaching the gospel at the age of 20,” Keith describes. “He traveled to every church, rescue mission, and jailhouse that would have him. Seventeen years into his solo ministry, as a 37-year-old single man, he met Tiffany Duke at a tent revival he was serving in. A year or so later, they got married, and the rest is history! I was born two years later and when I turned 18 months old, Dad had me in the studio to sing “Jesus Loves Me” and “The B-I-B-L-E” on one of his recordings. The same story goes for all four siblings. As soon as we could talk, we were singing. As we all grew, we began to sing harmony, and my brothers and I formed a trio. When Katie started singing harmony, we added her and our ministry became what it is today.”

From the Ernie Haase and Signature Sound Newsletter of September 1, 2015, Ernie Haase announced a couple of changes to the EHSS lineup. Here is what he said:

I’d like to take this opportunity to announce the newest member of the EHSS family.  His name is Tyler Vestal, and we are excited to have him on board!
Tyler Vestal

Tyler Vestal

If you have been to any of our summer concerts, I’m sure you’ve seen Tyler playing keyboards along with our own Wayne Haun on the piano.  Due to the success of StowTown Records, Wayne’s producer duties for all of the StowTown projects, his additional duties as a committee member on both the Grammy and Dove Awards panels, AND his brand new daily radio show heard on Solid Gospel Radio, Wayne is a verybusy man and will not be able to continue to go out with us every weekend.  So, you guessed it…this is where Tyler comes in!
Tyler has been learning the ropes from the best and he will be our new keyboardist.  But never fear…Wayne will continue to serve as our musical director and producer and will travel with us on the weekends when he is available to make sure we are continuing to do everything up to his standards!   He keeps us on our toes and we need that!

New Video featuring Dustin Doyle and Tyler Vestal
“Redemption Draweth Nigh”
So, here we grow again!  The EHSS family just keeps getting bigger and, in this case, MUCH YOUNGER!   I’m really enjoying having young Tyler and Dustin on the bus.  They bring back so many fond memories of my younger days with the Cathedrals, and I love the new and fresh ideas they are bringing to the table.
And in addition to all of this news, EHSS would like to wish young Tyler a Happy 24th Birthday onSeptember 6th!!  I have socks older than that!!! (I’ve always wanted to use that joke!)
I know you’re going to love getting to know Tyler, and to help you out with that, please check out his full Bio HERE.
