INTEGRITY WORSHIP INSTITUTE NAMES DR. PETE SANCHEZ VP & ACADEMIC DEAN

Written by Rhonda on November 23, 2010 – 6:24 am -

MOBILE, Ala. – November 19, 2010 – Integrity Media recently tapped well-known and respected worship leader and educator Dr. Pete Sanchez for the position of Vice President and Academic Dean of the Integrity Worship Institute, an appointment that testifies to the increasing importance of Integrity’s transformational biblical and worship education and training program.

Integrity Worship Institute (IWI) is the training and educational division of Integrity Media, the trusted world leader in harvesting, creating and distributing praise and worship music in more than 160 countries.  IWI has been offering worship training via seminars and live events for more than a decade, but in 2010, has taken the program online in conjunction with Columbia Southern University, one of the country’s first completely online universities.  In addition to being one of the primary lead faculty members, Dr. Sanchez will now direct the program and oversee the development and implementation of curriculum.

As Professor of Worship Leadership at the University of Mobile and author of the internationally recognized praise and worship song “I Exalt Thee” Dr. Sanchez has been privileged to be among those who are at the forefront of the contemporary praise and worship movement. His background as a youth minister, music director, worship leader, associate and senior pastor and years with Integrity Music give Dr. Sanchez the real-world experience to bridge traditional and contemporary music and prepare students for tomorrow’s emerging forms of worship.  Now in his role as dean and faculty member of IWI, Dr. Sanchez wants to impart to students a strong biblical foundation that helps them understand worship as more than just music but rather as a lifestyle.

“Dr. Sanchez’s academic training, combined with his professional experience, makes him uniquely qualified to provide the educational leadership needed at IWI. His heart is to help students understand the transformational significance of worship as a tool for bringing worshippers into relationship with God.” said Mike Coleman, president of Integrity Media. He will teach our students that music ministry is not primarily about being on a stage, but about serving the local church as they facilitate a worship experience with the Lord of the Church himself.”

Prior to being named Academic Dean, Dr. Sanchez has been affiliated with Integrity Media for 24 years where he served as an instructor for various seminar and training programs.  He has had the unique opportunity to help train pastors and worship leaders from many countries including Italy, Malaysia, England, Russia, Armenia, Cyprus, Taiwan, and Brazil.  He has become internationally known for his passionate but biblically informed teaching concerning contemporary congregational worship.

Dr. Sanchez is a graduate of Houston Baptist University (BS – Music and Christianity) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv with Biblical Languages; Doctor of Ministry).  He has served as an adjunct professor for the Houston campus of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the University of Mobile (Mobile, AL), Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA), Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA), and the King’s College and Seminary (Van Nuys, CA).

Dr. Sanchez is also presently Assistant Professor of Church Music and Worship Leadership at the University of Mobile.  He also directs IMPACT the University worship ensemble.

A native Houstonian, Pete has enjoyed more than 30 years of local, national, and international ministry experience, including the privilege of serving four Houston churches as youth minister, music director, worship leader, and associate pastor.  Most recently, Dr. Sanchez served for 12 years as senior pastor of Christ Covenant Church, a non-denominational congregation in Houston, Texas.

IWI is currently enrolling for classes for its Foundational Certificate program.  Three classes will be offered starting December 1: “Heaven’s Protocol: Discover the Pathway into God’s Manifest Presence,” “ Towards a Theology of Worship” and “ Psalms for Worship: Timeless Insights for Worship Leadership.”

Integrity Music Signs Worship Leader Daniel Bashta

Written by Rhonda on October 28, 2010 – 5:37 pm -

MOBILE, Ala. (October 27, 2010) – Integrity Music announces the signing of Georgia-based worship artist/songwriter Daniel Bashta to an exclusive recording and publishing contract with Bashta’s debut album slated to release in early 2011.

Bashta has been making music for as long as he can remember, starting as a child in New Orleans playing violin and drums and then as a teenager adding guitar and piano to his repertoire.  The son of missionaries, Bashta spent time in Mexico, Russia, China, The Netherlands, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica all before his late teens.  It was training that prepared him well for his position as Worship Pastor at RiverStone Church in Kennesaw, Georgia, and as an artist who unites worship, evangelism and social justice.

“Daniel is a unique and gifted worship leader with a heart for prophetic worship and a passion to use the arts to reach this generation,” says John Coleman, Senior Vice President/General Manager for Integrity Music. “Integrity shares his passion, and we are excited about partnering with him.”

“Integrity Music is full of radical dreamers… I am so humbled to be a part of such pioneers. Whatever your view point of them has been in the past, erase it. Get ready to encounter a new army. I can’t wait to unleash these sounds to the world with my new family,” Bashta said.

Though he had traveled the world on missions’ trips, it was a visit to Amsterdam in The Netherlands that profoundly changed his perspective on evangelism, forever affecting his work and music. At only 17, Bashta moved to Amsterdam to be part of a church plant just outside the infamous “Red Light District.”  While there, he experienced first-hand the power of building relationships and trust as catalysts for change and repentance versus an impersonal, “in your face” outreach so often used in evangelism.

“This new breed of missions forever wrecked my life,” he explains. “I had finally found a call and a cause that I could recklessly run with. I truly found the merciful God of the universe, who bleeds with such love for the outcasts of this world, that He would give His life. Then my question to answer was, ‘Why should I not give my life in endless return?’”

That question completely altered Bashta’s spiritual and musical directions.  With his family, he moved to Colorado Springs and became a worship leader for New Life Church’s youth ministry.  A couple of years later, he returned to Europe to attend International Bible Institute of London. While there, he became involved with Soul Survivor, the church from which Tim Hughes and Matt Redman have birthed so many of today’s modern worship songs.

After finishing school, Bashta returned to the U.S. and joined the staff of Church of the Highlands, then a new church plant in Birmingham, Ala., which has become one of the fastest growing churches in America. It was at Highlands that Bashta met his wife Taylor and further developed the worship-evangelism vision as the couple led students on missions trips to Romania, Germany, Hong Kong and China.

Feeling that God was calling them in a new direction, Bashta resigned from Highlands in 2008 and formed the non-profit ministry GoMotion Worldwide. He also recorded an EP called My Worship in Motion. Since then, he has led worship in the U.S. and internationally in addition to his role at RiverStone.

“The Sounds of Daniel Bashta is truly that… prophetic sounds that capture a movement of this generation, music that provokes you to worship, music that speaks life into dark places.  We are excited to be servicing alongside Daniel,” said Jay King, VP of A&R/Artist Development.
