SOJOURNER QUARTET CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF MINISTRY

Written by Staff on February 16, 2018 – 8:24 am -

Sojourner Quartet

Sojourner Quartet

Findlay, OH – It all began in 1992, in a little town called Findlay Ohio, with founding member Mark May, who carries the legacy of Sojourner Quartet forward today. Originally a contemporary Christian band that played with live instruments, the group transitioned to a Southern Gospel music style with four-part harmonies when bass singer, Dave Barker, joined the group in 1995.

Sojourner Quartet recorded their first full Southern Gospel project, “On the Rock” at the Gaither Studios in 1997 and the rest is history.

Today’s members are Isaac Steinhour singing tenor, Jeff McGlade singing lead, Mark May singing baritone, and Larry Counterman way down low, singing bass. With 13 albums on the books, many charting songs, and several award nominations, Sojourner Quartet has good reason for celebrating 25 years of making music together across the United States and into Canada. “More important than any worldly success, we have been able to experience lives touched and hearts changed through the message in our music,” said group founder, Mark May.

There is a special story behind their tenor’s miracle birth, and his father penned a song they often sing. “We sing a song called, ‘He Still Does Miracles,’ written by my dad, and it has led us to some amazing people with incredible miracle stories. Through it all, we are excited and thankful that we can see God glorified as we share our ministry wherever He leads us.” shared Isaac Steinhour.

A very special 25th Anniversary album was recently recorded on Chapel Valley’s Church House label and will be released soon.

Chapel Valley Hosts #1 Celebration For The Hyssongs

Written by Staff on February 12, 2018 – 12:10 pm -

Guests of honor from all over the country attended this special dinner party to celebrate with The Hyssongs. Rob Patz, Publisher of SGNScoops and CEO of Coastal Media Group, presented the group with a plaque recognizing their No. 1 song in SGNScoops’ Top 100. Also attending was Vonda Easley, Advertising and Social Media head of SGNScoops, and owner of Hey Y’all Media.

Richard shared from his heart, “Many from the Gospel music industry attended the celebration party. We are honored to call them friends. A major part of the event was to recognize those that are behind-the-scenes. The musicians are sometimes forgotten, however, we know that without them our albums would not be the same. It was neat to have them come forward individually and receive a plaque recognizing their amazing, God-given talents.”

The Hyssongs’ previous radio single “Let the Hallelujahs Ring,” written by Lee Black and Kenna Turner West, topped the SGNScoops’ Top 100 in July of 2017.

The Hyssongs have been singing together as a family for more than 21 years. They travel the United States and abroad sharing the Gospel, singing and playing their instruments for the glory of God.

“This was an unforgettable evening and a joy to spend it with so many friends. We appreciate them coming and celebrating our #1 song with us,” said Susan Hyssong. Congratulations to Dell, Susan, and Richard Hyssong!

CHAPEL VALLEY SIGNS EXCLUSIVE PUBLICITY AGREEMENT WITH MARCIE GRAY

When the Roark brothers established Church House Studios in 1996 in Middlesboro, Kentucky, they envisioned more than just a recording studio. In 2005, the studio relocated to Sharps Chapel, Tennessee and was renamed Chapel Valley.  Travis and Shane Roark have more than 30 years of experience in the music industry, and they not only realize the importance of an excellent quality recording project, they also understand the need for support beyond the studio experience.

In 2009, Chapel Valley’s client list began to grow rapidly, making it known as the fastest growing record company in gospel music. As the Chapel Valley family of artists has grown, its staff has grown, also. “Identifying the needs of both new and established artists is something we make an investment in. The support doesn’t end when the recording is finished. In fact, that’s where it all begins,” states Shane Roark, CEO for Chapel Valley.

CHAPEL VALLEY SIGNS EXCLUSIVE PUBLICITY AGREEMENT WITH MARCIE GRAY As the Chapel Valley family continues to grow, the leadership team continues to develop and provide support such as recording services, marketing, radio promotions, video production, artist management and in-house duplication. “Handling these services for our family of artists allows them to concentrate on the most important aspect of their ministry – spreading the Gospel,” Travis said.

Paul Roark2

Paul Roark

Heaven gained another angel and the world lost a man like no other, as Paul Roark, 75, went Home Wednesday, November 4 at 5 p.m.

Paul served the Lord his entire life, singing Gospel music for 42 years. He began his ministry with the Maranatha Singers and later formed The Roarks with his wife of 57 years Jetta and sons Travis and Shane. The ministry Paul lead grew, as the family formed a record company, Chapel Valley in Sharps Chapel, Tenn.

As Jetta says, “God broke the mold when he made Paul.” To honor the man of God Paul was and the legacy he leaves behind, his family invites friends to a Celebration of Life at the Sharps Chapel Community Center on Saturday, November 7 from 2-5 p.m.

The community center is located at 1550 Sharps Chapel Road, Sharps Chapel, TN 37866. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent to the Sharps Chapel Children’s Christmas Fund. Donations can be sent to Sharps Chapel Elementary School at 1550 Sharps Chapel Rd., ATTN. Angela Mills. Make checks payable to Angela Mills.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce that Paul Roark passed away and went home to be with his Lord a little after 5 p.m. this afternoon.
