Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned songwriter, you’ll be equipped, encouraged, and inspired at Write About Jesus, a workshop for Christian songwriters, held each October in the St. Louis, MO area. This year’s workshop is October 11-13 at First Baptist Church, Harvester, MO.

The workshop was founded and is hosted each year by 5-time Dove Award winning songwriter Sue C. Smith and her husband John. Sue is the writer of 8 number one songs and more than 50 musicals sung at churches all over the world.

Write About Jesus is 3 days of learning, opportunity, and fun. Registrants from throughout the United States gather to attend classes, network with other songwriters and publishers, and get advice from music business professionals. Registration for the workshop includes all the classes, taught by many of today’s top writers and publishers, meals on Friday and Saturday, a workshop t-shirt, the WAJ notebook, the Friday evening Writers in the Round concert, and one song entered in the songwriting competition. The grand prize winner of the competition receives a prize package worth more than $1000.

Now in its 13th year, Write About Jesus receive high praise from registrants and industry professionals alike:

“This conference is amazing. I thought it was going to be good but I was unprepared. It was so much more than I could have imagined. I felt God’s presence here and have a renewed sense of purpose with my ministry. Thank you. I will take the tools you have given me and go write great songs. See you next year!”

“Most bang for my buck I’ve ever known! Expectations exceeded in so many golden comments presented by seasoned writers and their free friendship both in and out of sessions. It’s so good to be within a group where everyone present values you.”

This is family. These are my people. Even the clinicians make you feel like family. Everyone is so kind and encouraging. WAJ will always be on my calendar.”

“There is nothing that can compare with the WAJ experience! It is a must for all Christian songwriters. It changes everything. A part of my heart has opened like never before.”

Nashville, TN (Feb 22, 2012) –Powerful vocal trio, Beyond The Ashes (BTA), is overwhelmed with gratitude with news of two prestigious DOVE AWARD nominations.  The Gospel Music Association (GMA) announced the nominees at a press conference held in Atlanta, GA this morning. The announcements were hosted by comedienne extraordinaire, Chonda Pierce.
The trio’s DOVE AWARD nominations include NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR and CONTEMPORARY GOSPEL RECORDED SONG OF THE YEAR, “What I Have I Give,” written by Wayne Haun, Joel Lindsey, and Depp Britt. The nominated song is from the album, Treasures Unseen, produced by Haun on Vine Records.
Group members Anthony Facello, Casey Rivers, and Kellan Monroe are beyond blessed by all God is doing in their ministry. These nominations have “almost” left them speechless, but BTA owner and tenor singer, Facello, tried to sum up the emotions as he shared; “We are stunned, overwhelmed, and absolutely thrilled with this tremendous news. The last 12 months have been quite a rollercoaster as we experienced successes and, also, some tough trials.  The best part has been seeing souls trust Christ and lives changed forever.  The hardest parts are tests of faith in moving forward, like when our bus caught on fire and we lost just about everything inside, including the transporation itself.  But, what GOD has proven, and continues to prove over and again, is, HE IS FAITHFUL. There is no trial He doesn’t understand and there are no victories more important than the spiritual ones we encounter as we continue to press on and serve Him in this ministry. Knowing we have received these nominations only fuels our desire to take it to the next level in this ministry and to really pray that accolades like a DOVE nomination (and, if it comes, a DOVE AWARD) will only open more opportunity to reach out to the hearts of hurting and lost people.  WOW…THANK you everyone!”
The news of the nominations follows so many other incredible areas of growth for this talented group of guys, including their recent and first top 10 song, “The Coming Of The King.”  Their new single, “Whenever We Pray,” is poised to be another chart busting hit.  Both songs can be found on Treasure Unseen.

Beyond the Ashes – New CD

Written by SGN Scoops Staff on January 28, 2011 – 5:43 pm -

This new year will bring a new wave of CD releases from various groups.  But none will make the impact than what you will find when you hear “Treasures Unseen” from Beyond the Ashes.  This
latest CD release comes from a group of guys who are transforming the genre of southern gospel by appealing to a wider audience base.  This project features the tight harmony sounds and
progressive styles you have come to expect from Beyond The Ashes.  Simply put, this is no ordinary project.  This is a defining moment for this trio according to group owner, Anthony Facello, “I’ve have known and worked with Wayne Haun for many years and have done various small projects with him but have always wanted to do a full CD under his direction. I never would have dreamed that many years later with my own group that it would come to fruition.  We are absolutely thrilled about our new CD and how it is going to define the ministry of Beyond The Ashes.”

For these guys, the songs were more than words on a page or tracks from awesome musicians.  While you get all of that, newest member of the trio Kellan Monroe says this project brings so much more.  In fact, it has made a direct impact on his life, “The beauty of this record is that it showcases all of what BTA embodies…good harmonies, heartfelt songs and our love for Christ! ”
says Monroe.

This is a must have CD if you enjoy greatly produced projects that features the songwriting skills of  Joel Lindsey, Wayne Haun,  Sue Smith and Ernie Haase. Group member Casey Rivers sums up the project in this way, “I believe Beyond The Ashes has found their identity with this new CD and we finally got what we wanted … music for the Church!” Project is set to release early spring so visit www.beyondtheashesonline.com and become a fan on their FACEBOOK to get exact release dates of release.  You can also sign up for a fan membership that will allow you to purchase the project before it hits the streets.

Beyond the Ashes has just recently been nominated for Breakthrough Artist and Fan Favorite in the Absolutely Gospel Fan Awards.
