Groundhog predicts early Spring

Groundhog Day 2016
Groundhog Day 2016

Groundhog Day is traditionally February 2nd and is not really celebrated, sort of just noticed in Canada and the United States.

The tradition says that if the Groundhog sees his shadow on a sunny day, there will be six more weeks of winter. If he (because apparently it is a male groundhog ) does not see his shadow because the day is cloudy, then spring will come early…in only six weeks.  (See what they did there?)

Today, in a cold, sunny region of Ontario Canada,  Wharton Willy saw his shadow.

In cloudy Pennsylvania,  Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow.

This difference in prediction can only lead one to wonder about the flaw in this fable. Or maybe the problem is with the hairy beast himself?

I guess we will never know.

Happy Groundhog Day.
