April 2020 SGN Scoops Magazine

It’s Spring and we are happy to present this fresh issue of SGNScoops Magazine for April 2020. We trust this month of social changes and new beginnings brings you fresh joy and hope in this time of isolation and distancing.

One lady who is experiencing many new beginnings this year is our cover artist, Lauren Talley. From her professional to personal life, Ms. Talley shares all of her news with Justin Gilmore. We know you will be engaged in this feature.
Also new this month, we welcome Andrew Ishee as he starts a series on the beginnings of your favourite artists. Gene McDonald from the Gaither video series is his first guest.
The Chuck Wagon Gang, Autumn Isbell, GloryWay Quartet, Wilburn and Wilburn, and Jeff Parker are also highlighted this month, along with so much more! Take time to read it cover to cover.
This Spring, we hope you take time as well to consider new beginnings in your own life. Jesus Christ came to this earth, lived, died, and rose to life, so you could feel the freedom of an abundant life. He wants to save you, cleanse you, heal you, and lead you to a closer walk with him today. This is a great time to discover what Jesus has for you. Open your Bible and find out what that is!
We hope you enjoy this issue of SGNScoops Magazine. If you have any questions or concerns, please write to me at lorraine@sgnscoops.com.

Gaither Christmas Homecoming 2016

Gaither Christmas Homecoming 2016

The Gaither Christmas Homecoming Tour 2016 stopped in Nashville, TN at Lipscomb University on December 8th.

SGNScoops roving photojournalist, Craig Harris, was at the venue to capture every minute of excitement.

Many Gaither favorites were there including the Gaither Vocal Band, The Martins, The Isaacs, Buddy Greene, Landy and Joy Gardner and the Christ Church Choir, Russ Taff, Charlotte Ritchie, Gene McDonald, Matthew Holt and Kevin Williams.

We hope you enjoy the many Gaither Christmas Homecoming 2016faces of the Christmas Homecoming Tour 2016!

More About Bill Gaither

An avid fan of gospel quartets throughout his childhood, Bill founded his first group, The Bill Gaither Trio, in 1956, while he was a college student. He began teaching English in 1959 because his musical aspirations couldn’t support him full-time… yet. In 1962, Bill did one of the best things he has ever done. He married Gloria Sickal, who became the best writing partner Bill could have found anywhere. The couple spent the first five years of their married life juggling full-Gaither Christmas Homecoming 2016time teaching jobs, writing, singing, recording and publishing until music became their full-time career in 1967.

The collaborations of Bill and Gloria have resulted in more than 700 popular gospel songs, including the hymnal standard “Because He Lives,” “The King Is Coming,” “Something Beautiful,” “He Touched Me,” “It Is Finished,” “There’s Something About That Name,” “Let’s Just Praise The Lord,” and “Loving God, Loving Each Other.” Bill and Gloria have collectively won eight Grammy Awards and more than a dozen nominations, and they have received more than two dozen Dove Awards from The Gospel Music Association, earning the title of Gospel Music Association’s “Songwriter of the Year” eight times.

After decades of unprecedented musical successes, Bill and Gloria still operate Gaither Christmas Homecoming 2016their business from Bill’s hometown of Alexandria, Indiana, and they dwell in the same home in which they raised their family. They live a lifestyle focused on investing their resources into eternal things.

“Our calling is not just making music… but communicating the reality of Christ. That might mean birthing a song about Him or simply offering a cup of cold water to someone who needs it. Gloria and I have never claimed to have God figured out, but we do know that if He could use two imperfect people like us to communicate His Truth to the world, He can use everyone sitting in the audience, working on our staff or singing with us. If we have done anything right over the years, I hope we have built bridges where people could connect with God and with each other. Gaither Christmas Homecoming 2016That is what started us writing and what will keep us going for the rest of our lives.”  [From Gaither.com December 10, 2016. http://gaither.com/artists/bill-gaither]

The Greenbrier welcomed each person with a smile and a large sweet tea! From that point forward, everything was presented on a whole new level. Even the seats in the concert hall were velvet covered while multiple stations in the room held pitchers of ice-chilled water.

Tribute Quartet, led by Gary Casto, started off the first night with their usual flair and energetic music. The lively group performed many charting songs and favorites, including, “Homesick Angel” and “Good News From Jerusalem,” featuring Josh Singletary. Read more »

Bev McCann Forms Management Company ‘Bev McCann and Friends’

Written by SGN Scoops Staff on September 8, 2014 – 8:10 pm -

Bev McCann

Bev McCann

Nashville, TN (September 8, 2014) A well-known personality in the southern gospel industry, Bev McCann is forming her own artist management company, Bev McCann and Friends. Known for her work with recording companies and extensive work in client relations with Godsey and Associates and the Music City Show, McCann showcases her passion for southern gospel music.

Not only is she a leader in the gospel music industry, she is also a singer, songwriter and ordained minister. McCann brings a lot of experience and creativity to the southern gospel music table, and she is excited about launching her new management company alongside a new website.

Deon Unthank of AG Publicity commented, “Bev has been a friend for a long time, and I have watched her grow in her talents and status in Gospel Music. I feel she has a lot to offer with her various ministries and she has the ambition to go forward with what God has called her to do.”

“I’m extremely excited about the doors that God is opening. The concerts and music that we’re doing and the new adventures that are taking us through this year are exciting. It is incredible to know that when you think doors are closing they are being opened. When you have your life in God’s hands, God is opening doors and giving you new directions. We’re going to be doing projects in California next year, so we are grateful for the things that are coming our way. We have lots of fun when we are all together. I am totally amazed of what God is doing for me and everybody else. I am thrilled to be a part of this ministry,” said McCann.

Her list of clients is impressive, including:

Jim Sheldon, known as the Positive Cowboy. Jim is regularly seen on the ever popular Television program ‘The Music City Show’.

Gene McDonald is the phenomenal Bass singer seen on many of the Gaither Homecoming videos.

Cambell and Crowley is a Gospel Duet ministry based in Beckley, West Virginia. The group was founded in 1983 by Larry Rowley, the current tenor.

The Lori Jonathan Trio is a family trio with some of the sweetest harmony you will every hear. Coming from the New York, they are not a likely Southern gospel group, but their sound says otherwise.

Rachel Taylor is a fine young soloist who has recently recorded a duet with Jim Sheldon.

Sarah Collins was born and raised in Southern Indiana, the youngest of five children. She says that she doesn’t ever remember a time that she didn’t want to sing about Jesus. Accepting a call to minister in any way that she can for the Lord lead her, she started singing again and hasn’t looked back.

Rod Truman is a man with a tremendous testimony. As a basketball coach, God got a hold of his life and changed him all together.
