StowTown Records Announces New Release From The Guardians

Nashville, TN  – StowTown Records has announced the release of a brand new recording from popular quartet, The GuardiansIt’s Still Good News marks the group’s third recording under the StowTown label. The recording was produced by songwriter and group member John Darin Rowsey and multi-award winning producer/arranger Wayne Haun.

With two Dove Award nominations from the Gospel Music Association, as well as multiple Singing News Fan Award nominations, The Guardians have risen to the forefront of Southern Gospel Music. Dean Hickman, John Darin Rowsey, Pat Barker and Scott Mullins present tight four-part harmony and are committed to sharing the message of the Gospel through their music.
Formerly known as a trio, this latest recording effort marks the group’s second recording since adding bass singer Pat Barker in March of 2018. With this latest effort, The Guardians reach new heights with musical diversity and moving orchestrations, as well as lyrical content that shares the good news of God’s love, salvation and grace.
The commitment of sharing the Gospel message shines brightly through the songs included on It’s Still Good News. The recording features 12 cuts, including seven written by longtime group member John Darin Rowsey. “What an honor to have our own John Darin Rowsey write and arrange most of the songs on our new project,” group owner Dean Hickman states. “John’s talents, coupled with the unparalleled talents of producer Wayne Haun, resulted in another Guardians’ project that we believe God will use to minister to the hearts of Southern Gospel Music fans.”
Producer Wayne Haun shares, “I enjoy working with the Guardians for so many reasons. The musical brilliance of each individual obviously comes to mind, but honestly, I just love hanging out with these guys. It feels like a band of brothers coming together. It’s always a holiday of sorts. We talk about everything from music of the 1940s to complicated Bible trivia to who makes the best biscuits in the South. Working alongside John Darin Rowsey from start to finish is always a highlight of my year.”
From the classic “You’re Home to Stay (Where We Ever Shall Be)” delivered with a modern flare, complete with electric guitar and lower brass lines, to the moving “From Now On,” a musical number featured in the 2017 film The Greatest Showman, as well as the worshipful “Holy Is Thy Name,” It’s Still Good News features The Guardians at their very best and offers hours of musical enjoyment for any traditional Southern Gospel Music lover.
It’s Still Good News is distributed by Provident/Sony and is available on all digital platforms worldwide, and wherever fine Christian music is sold, including christianbook.combarnesandnoble.com, and amazon.com.

The Guardians

The group posted this on their Facebook page, moments ago:

The Guardians welcome new member Scott Mullins

If you were listening to “The Gospel Greats,” you heard Dean Hickman talk about our newest member. We welcome Scott Mullins to The Guardians!

Scott is no stranger to gospel music. His love for the music goes back to his childhood, and it’s evident when he steps on the stage to sing.

“Scott Mullins has one of the most pleasing voices I’ve ever heard,” says Pat Barker. “You’re confident he knows exactly who he is singing for.”

John Darin Rowsey adds, “As sad as we have been about the departure of longtime group member Neil Uhrig, we are equally as excited about Scott Mullins. He is a very talented singer and great addition to the Guardians!”

Dean Hickman, one of the founding members had this to say: “There are three qualifications you look for in a quartet man. First off, is he a Christian? Is he someone who believes in what he is singing? Does he display Christ likeness in everything he does? Secondly, is he easy to get along with? Is he someone you can travel with on a bus? Finally, can he sing? Well, Scott Mullins exemplifies all 3 and much more!”

Scott has this to say: “It is both a privilege and an honor to have the opportunity to sing with such an organization as The Guardians. I am so thankful that God has placed me with such fine gentlemen as Dean, John, and Pat, and I am looking forward to seeing what God has planned for the future.”

Medical and Touring Update Regarding The Guardians’ Neil Uhrig

Nashville, TN  – The Guardians have kicked off 2020 with several dates in the Southeast U.S., and concert attendees have noticed that baritone Neil Uhrig is missing. Neil underwent surgery on December 11 at which time he had a triple bypass and aortic valve replacement. His medical team quickly realized that something was wrong and discovered internal bleeding which resulted in his receiving 10 units of blood and another surgery to repair one of the grafts. What could have been devastating was redeemed, and Neil is on the road to a complete recovery.

From home, Neil shares, “Recovery is going slowly, but very well. I am able to do the walking and rehab as prescribed.” Later this month, he hopes to be released by the surgeon to begin cardiac rehab at his local hospital. Neil continues, “I have appreciated the outpouring of concern and prayers of God’s people from across the country. I’m still here because of prayer.”

While Neil is recovering, Scott Mullins is filling in and traveling with Dean Hickman, John Darin Rowsey and Pat Barker. “The group is extremely grateful to Scott Mullins for filling in for Neil during his recovery,” explains Hickman. “While no one can fill Neil’s shoes, Scott is an extremely talented baritone and veteran of quartet singing. We miss you, Neil!”

The Guardians’ current StowTown Records project, Ready for Revival, has become a fan favorite and is available via Sony/Provident Distribution at all digital and retail outlets.

The Guardians are Ready for Revival

The Guardians are Ready for Revival

Nashville, TN StowTown Records artist The Guardians has released a brand new project today, their first as a quartet. Ready for Revival, a 12-song collection from this famed group is available at digital and retail outlets worldwide and is distributed exclusively by Sony/Provident.

“We feel a sense of urgency now more than ever to sound a call for revival in the church, this nation and the world,” states John Darin Rowsey. “From the first note of the project to the last, we wanted to create a spiritual and emotional journey that would touch the heart and soul of everyone who heard it. As the debut quartet project, we certainly wanted to make use of the talents of Pat Barker. The arrangements of Wayne Haun and the brilliant writing from some of the industry’s top writers have definitely accomplished that. There is an excitement in the songs on this project that has created a new zeal in all of us. We can’t wait to share the message in the songs!”

Several of the songs recorded were written specifically with their revival tour in mind as they travel with Revive America, led by Rev. Terry Toler. In true Guardians form, they treat this project like a member of the family, carefully paying attention to every detail.

Dean Hickman and The Guardians truly believe in the integrity of presentation,” said Wayne Haun, StowTown co-founder and producer. “They are genuine in their love for the Gospel message and their love for gospel music. How many tenor singers are still performing and traveling at age 70?! Dean is amazing, both on stage and off. There is no greater cheerleader for young people in our industry, and I am honored to have worked with him and The Guardians on Ready for Revival.”
