Carman gets a birthday gift from God

Written by Staff on January 19, 2020 – 10:29 am -

Happy birthday Carman

When we discovered the cancer from 2014 had returned 17% and growing, Dr. Van Rhee put me on a new aggressive combination of treatments in July for seven months. Then (they) tested me again last week with MRI’s, P.E.T. scans, bone biopsies and blood tests. The cancer was now below the levels it was when I first left nine months of chemotherapy in 2014. I’ll have to continue treatment indefinitely through a series of pills I take everyday. Mine is a constant daily battle. But as long as I stay away from stress and get plenty of sleep, I’ll always feel great and not sluggish or lethargic. I still can be active and workout. Bottom line is, I asked God for a cancer free birthday and today it’s now below the zero mark.

Please Pray For Carman

Now, I want to give you a gift on   my birthday. Yes, I’m returning the favor of over 40,000 prayers. To thank you for all your prayerful support, I want to give you my new Rock Opera musical, “Christ the Champion,” free, before its release. You can download it right now. Over 15 classic Carman songs with my dialogue between each song to present the passion of Christ in Christian rock form. It’s a musical you can do and have a great time in your church with dancers, mimes and actors. Or just listen and let it minister to you.

Go to and download yours.

One last thing. I’m going back on tour this month and have a message for the Devil:

I’ve seen the storm
I faced the storm
I weathered the storm
Now I am the storm

Carman: Leaving a Legacy

Written by Staff on September 26, 2019 – 5:47 pm -

CarmanCarman. This name is synonymous with the world of Christian music. From drawing the largest crowd ever recorded for a solo Christian event to making his mark in movies, his unique musical style has literally taken him all over the world. Carman Domenic Licciardello has received numerous accolades, but his greatest goal is not to win awards, but to win souls for Christ.

Music was an important part of Carman’s life even in his early years. When he was only five years old, he began learning to play the drums. Ten years later, he learned to play the guitar; then he began singing when he was 16 years old. Although his musical background was certainly a positive aspect of his childhood, Carman’s adolescence was not one filled with perfect harmony. His hostile behavior eventually sent him to the Bordentown Military Institute for two years.

Soon, Carman’s life was back on track and he studied acting at the Abbey Playhouse in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was playing the club circuit from Atlantic City to Philadelphia, even though he was still a juvenile. Lucrative offers were coming his way, and he was in the midst of trying to figure out the next step on his journey when he found out that God had an entirely different plan.

One night, Carman heard Andraé Crouch in concert. It was at this concert that Carman realized that God was taking him on a detour, which would change the course of his life forever.

The singer credits Crouch with having the greatest influence on his life.

Lorraine Walker: Facing Fear

Dog days of summer bring lovely lilies in the Editor’s Last Word by Lorraine Walker

Editor’s Last Word for July 2019 by Lorraine Walker

July is officially the month of the dog days of summer. It’s interesting how, when we move from air-conditioned buildings to cool cars back to even cooler houses, we don’t even really get the full benefit of the heat of summer time. I remember as a kid playing outside and the heat didn’t bother me at all. Now if I’ve been more than 10 minutes outside, I’m begging for either air conditioning or my favorite iced coffee. I don’t think I’m the only one either, judging from the lineup at the coffee shop. Have we become a society that can’t stand a little warmth? Or has it truly become hotter outside?

One thing that is for sure, an artist whose career is heating up once again, is the ageless Carman. He looks the same and sounds the same as he did when I first became a fan back in the 80s. And now he’s back with a gospel album and joined by a quartet. Still, as he begins his new tour, I hope he doesn’t leave off the iconic song, “The Champion.” Thanks so much to Jennifer Campbell for that feature.

Special thanks as well to John Herndon for bringing us the story on another iconic group, the Kingsmen. So glad to see that they are back with a new album to go along with their new lineup.

In fact, thanks to all of our writers this month, for going above and beyond to bring us these great features. SGNScoops magazine is blessed to have some of the best writers in the industry. They bring us features better not only inspiring but also entertaining. I hope you’ve had time to also read the devotional writers who contribute to the SGNScoops website. We are blessed.

My sister mentioned the other day about how often the subject of fear comes up in today’s Christian music. Whether it’s Southern or Country gospel, or Contemporary Christian music, usually you won’t have the station on long before you will hear the subject of being afraid, and how Jesus can break those chains of fear and anxiety. The thing is, you have to recognize that it is fear. Then you need to remember that Jesus is love, and perfect love casts out fear. Does that line sound familiar? Then you know it is part of scripture and knowledge of the word of God is essential to dealing with fear. Remind yourself and the ultimate source of fear, satan, that God is in control and he has the final word.

Lorraine Walker

After you have gone to the word to claim the promises of God and to remind yourself of the many times he says, “Fear not!” then rest in that knowledge and talk to the author of peace. Tell him your fears and let him soothe you with his divine presence. Turn on some good gospel music and let yourself soak in the words of songs touched by the hand of God.

If you are afraid or anxious today, I urge you to talk to someone you know and trust who can help you find peace in the words of our Savior. Let his words be your rock, your fence, your protection and your safety. For Jesus is the Word. He will never fail you.

I am so glad we have music that can overcome evil and fear with the sword of the Spirit, the word of God. Thank you to all of the songwriters who bathe their minds and work in the Holy Spirit, and the singers who are blessed by God to communicate his love. You are all vessels for his glory.

Nashville, TN (January 1, 2019) Christian Music icon, Carman, has announced the addition of Matt Felts to his ministry team for his 2019 Legacy Tour. A long-time fixture in the Southern Gospel industry, Felts will be joining Carman on the road as his road manager and will also be active with his publicity team.

Prior to joining Carman, Matt was the general manager of Butler Music Group as well as having spent nearly two decades singing with legendary groups such as the Dixie Melody Boys, Lesters, Perfect Heart and others. Matt is also an award-winning soloist.

Inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2018, Carman is one of Christian Music’s biggest stars. With over 10 million albums sold, 15 gold and platinum records and videos, and record setting concerts at stadiums and arenas, Carman is back on the road blessing crowds.

“I am overwhelmed at the opportunity to join Carman’s team. His ministry has impacted my life since I was a young teenager. I went to many of his concerts through the years, so it is surreal to be working with him. His music crosses all boundaries and genres. This year is going to be incredible,” stated Matt Felts. Matt will continue to travel as a soloist when not on the road as part of Carman’s team.

Felts is widely known as one of Christian Music’s top business minds, having worked with artists such as the Oak Ridge Boys, Booth Brothers, Larry Gatlin, Ivan Parker, Three Bridges, Williamsons and many others.

“Carman asked me who I thought was best for this position on His team. I said only one person – if he is available – and that’s Matt Felts. I contacted Matt and offered him the position. Matt said yes! Matt is one of the most multi-talented people I know. Carman and I are excited about having Matt part of Carman’s team,” stated Ron Blackwood, Carman’s booking agent.

Please Pray For Carman

Please Pray For Carman

Please Pray For Carman

The senior Doctor at UAMS Arkansas told me that if January tests are the same since I started in 2014 then he would declare me cured. They tested 3 million cells. Since 2014 I’ve tested at .001 for questionable cancer cells. This time the test went from .001 up to .05. So it moved up in the wrong direction. I’m still technically cancer free but I’m going back to my original Doctor, .Dr. Bart Barlogie who moved to Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC. Dr. Barlogie founded the center in Arkansas and believes Multiple Myeloma is curable. He wants “zero” cancer cells. So folks, it’s still an ongoing fight. In the beginning they told me I had 3-5 years of life in 2013. My hopes were very high to be listed as medically cured on paper.
Monday my wife Dana and I fly to NYC to begin a grueling week of tests ending with my first visit to perform at Dollywod on the 22nd. No matter what the tests or the doctors say I will continue to win souls and encourage people’s faith in Jesus. We never know how much time we have left and I certainly don’t want to waste any of my days just singing songs when I can also populate the kingdom of heaven with more friends for eternity. I’m asking for your prayers for courage and that God infuses me, once again, with that steely determination so needed, to fight this dreaded pestilence of cancer. I know I’m at the 5 year limit of my allotted time but I’m fighting for more years to get more souls into the kingdom of God. I just want the Lord to say, when I stroll through the gates, “Well, well, well…. look who made it. Well done my good and faithful servant. Your Dad and brother Mario are waiting for you. They’re cracking jokes over in the Italian section, go say hi”

Carman About Jan Crouch

Carman About Jan Crouch

Carman About Jan Crouch

From Carman: (via facebook)
JAN CROUCH PASSED AWAY TODAY: My heart broke today in 1,000 pieces. My great friend and big sister in the lord of 40 years, is gone.  From the time in 1976 that I played with her colored pencils outside her office and flirted with her secretary (she never let me forget that) to the time 4 weeks ago that we had dinner alone and shared our new secrets, Jan was always my biggest encourager.  For 4 decades Jan would beseech Paul for budgets for my next ministry project. And we always did something great. The thing that bonded Paul, Jan and I was a shared passion for souls. We did music videos, movies, Hosted evening praise, tv shows, helped me promote my first stadium concert and did several TBN live concerts like Halloween 3:16 which lead over 70,000 people to Christ in one night and did 7 times the normal tv ratings. Still a record at TBN. Today while the memories are fresh and tender, I’m asking you to share your favorite TBN memory. For me, the woman I called “Momma Jan”, I will sorely miss all the great jokes, the council, comfort and best friend you could have in troubled times. Maybe your memory includes me or maybe not. But we all have a ministry memory to share from TBN. I want to collect all your memories in a post of remembrances. To remind us all that a great work was done and a great woman was at the center of it all. Everybody has something to share, something you heard or saw that touched your heart for Jesus. God bless you for taking this time out of your day. Without Jan, my life will never be the same. Thank You – Carman

Pray for Carman….

Written by scoopsnews on March 21, 2016 – 8:44 pm -

A message from Carman:

SO GLAD TO SEE YOUR FACE: Two hours sleep, no food since Sunday and 10 needles later I can say, Yes the rumor is true. I was taken to the ER on the last day of tour in Belton TX. It’s been a very stressful tour with lots of technical difficulties and frustrations. Not to mention an 18 city string of one nighters. Put it all together and its doesn’t turn out well for Uncle Carm. I try really hard to make things great for my supporters and fans. Everyone continues to give so generously to our that I really really want the show to be better each time I walk out and the most anointed visual spectacle you’ve ever seen. Ok, Ok, I know I overdid it. I’ve been having bad chest pains for the past 2 weeks. Finally the last couple days it got really severe and the guy who picked me up at the hotel was a medic and wanted to go straight to the hospital. I wanted to do the last show. People have bought tickets and waited in line. No way was I going to not show up. So when the concert was over I walked off the stage into a car zooming straight for the ER. So far the doctors are saying it’s all stress related but I’m just starting the tests now. I’ve only gotten 2 hours of sleep and no food since Sunday so Im dying to get a meatball sandwich. Please keep me in your prayers. Yes, we are adjusting the tech issues and dialing down the number of dates in a row. But it’s good to be alive, cancer free and have all these places to minister. I’ll keep you informed as I know more. I’m sure you all have some good advice comments so I guess I’m just gonna have to sit here and read them all : ))
