LINDSAY HUGGINS SLATED TO PERFORM AT 2013 GLOBAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

lindseyNashville, TN – (June 19, 2013) – Critically-acclaimed Christian recording artist Lindsay Huggins has been invited to serve on the worship team for the 2013 global General Assembly for the Church of the Nazarene. Lindsay will step out and take center stage as the featured soloist during the event’s June 23 Sunday morning worship service before an anticipated audience of 20,000-plus.

“I am a Nazarene girl,” Lindsay says, “born and raised in the Nazarene church, a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University and am a member of Trevecca Community Church of the Nazarene in Nashville, Tennessee, so I’m thrilled and honored to be asked to participate in this important event for my denomination.”

The General Assembly is the supreme doctrine-formulating, lawmaking and elective authority of the Church of the Nazarene, with elected delegates from both the clergy and laity convening to determine general church leadership, ratify resolutions and enact strategic legislation designed to facilitate the denomination’s engagement of global need through compassionate ministries, education and congregational development.

More than 20,000 Nazarenes are expected to converge on Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, to attend the quadrennial event. The General Conventions for Nazarene Missions International, Nazarene Youth International, Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries International and the International Higher Education Council will take place between June 19 and 21, 2013. General Assembly begins Saturday, June 22 and concludes Thursday, June 27.  The worship services can be streamed online athttp://tinyurl.com/ozeyvcs.

Lindsay brings her distinctive sound to the mix, with influences ranging from traditional Southern Gospel to contemporary pop to new country, but she insists it isn’t the style that matters, but the message. “I believe a song can touch you when nothing else can,” Lindsay says, referencing her own experience of coming to faith in Christ. “It was the lyrics to a song that spurred me to accept Jesus as my personal Savior.”

Raised in a musical home, with a deep-seated roots in the Southern Gospel realm, Lindsay starting singing in church as a young child and never looked back. She went on to earn her degree in Music Business from Trevecca Nazarene University as she continued to hone her craft as a performing artist. She took home top honors in the 2007 National Quartet Convention’s solo talent contest, which afforded her a larger platform to showcase her considerable talent. Her first radio single, “God Whispers,” was embraced by DJ’s nationwide and charted on the Singing News Top 80. The song was so well received that it was later made into a stirring music video, and paved the way for her latest radio single, “Walking On Air.”
