The Penny Loafers Nominated For ‘ Best Religious Album’

Franklin, TN (Mansion Entertainment) February 2nd, 2011 – Mansion Records recording artist, The Penny Loafers, have been nominated for ‘Best Religious Album’ for their independent release “Ever Present Help” by the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARA) .  These awards are coordinated by the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America (CASA) and award winners will be announced April 1, 2011.

In the time The Penny Loafers have been together, they have gained a loyal following, appealing to young and old alike through a blend of musical styles and tight a cappella harmonies. From 50’s Doo-Wop to Contemporary and Southern gospel, The Penny Loafers’ repertoire includes a healthy dose of original material and fresh arrangements of traditional favorites. Add some impressive vocal calisthenics and you have the “Loafer Style,” a unique, crowd-pleasing sound that has frequently earned The Penny Loafers a standing ovation at their performances. In 2010, the group  celebrated 25 years. The current group consists of Alan Pike (bass), Larry Nichols (baritone), Kevin Slemp (2nd tenor) and Michael Hunt (1st tenor) have been singing together since 1994.

The Penny Loafers are currently in the Mansion studios working on their new project that will include a capella arrangements of traditional Southern Gospel songs as well as having their vocal stylings on new, original songs with full instrumentation. A new single is currently playing on Southern Gospel radio entitled, “Jesus, You’re So Wonderful”.
