NASHVILLE, Tenn.â€”August 27th, 2013â€”Multi-award-winning national recording artists theÂ Gaither Vocal BandÂ were honored to receiveÂ five Gospel Music Association (GMA)Â DOVE Award nominations for the 2013 awards as announced at the recent GMA press conference which was held at Allen Arena on the Lipscomb University campus in Nashville, Tennessee.
The legendary quintet received a nod forÂ Song of the YearÂ for their hitÂ â€œGreatly Blessed, Highly Favored,â€Â written by Bill Gaither and Larry Gatlin, as well as two nominations for their current, chart-climbing radio single,Â â€œGlorious Freedom,â€ written by Harold Lillenas and Alfred Judson and arranged by the Gaither Vocal Band.Â Found on their latest recording,Â Pure and SimpleÂ (Gaither Music Group), â€œGlorious Freedomâ€ is nominated for bothÂ Southern Gospel Performance of the YearÂ andÂ Southern Gospel Song of the Year.
Pure and Simple,Â produced by Bill Gaither, Ben Isaacs, Michael English and David Phelps, is nominated forÂ Southern Gospel Album of the Year;Â and the songÂ â€œCome to Jesus,â€Â also found on the release, has earned a nod forÂ Bluegrass Song of the Year.Â Featuring iconic tenorÂ David Phelps,Â â€œCome to Jesusâ€ was written and previously recorded by Mindy Smith.
Phelps, nominated for 11 DOVES this year, is also nominated as a solo artist forÂ â€œThe Dream,â€Â which is nominated forÂ Contemporary Christian Performance of the Year, andÂ ClassicÂ (Gaither Music Group)Â up forÂ Inspirational Album of the Year.Â Other honors include his roles as co-producer forÂ ClassicÂ andÂ Pure and SimpleÂ as well as his co-production on â€œGlorious Freedomâ€ and â€œThe Dream.â€

The 44th Annual GMA DOVE Awards presentation will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Lipscomb Universityâ€™s Allen Arena in Nashville. It will be televised nationwide exclusively on UP TV.
