From Jennifer’s Facebook:

Update on Joey. We have been told by Joeys doctor that he is in the last stages of kidney failure. Still having seizures. We have been told to prepare and call the family in to see him. He has fought an amazing fight, and has blown away the statistics, but he is tired. Thank all of you for the prayers for him and his family.

Join us at SGN Scoops in praying for this precious family.

Debut of Concept Video “Empty Pews” Back Home with Guest Scott Fowler

Debut of Concept Video "Empty Pews" Back Home with Guest Scott Fowler

Debut of Concept Video “Empty Pews” Back Home with Guest Scott Fowler

Nashville, TN (July 23, 2015)  Back Home (Jimmy and Jennifer Layne), from South Pittsburg, TN are debuting their 3rd concept video called “Empty Pews” today with SGN Scoops.  The song “Empty Pews” is a very important song for those in ministry and the church. The video focuses on the pastoral role.  In the video, you will see a pastor pouring out his heart in a sermon only to discover he’s doing so to an empty church because he doesn’t feel he can do so with his congregation.  The idea for the song came after Jennifer read multiple stories of pastors leaving the ministry, becoming atheist, committing suicide, etc and wanted to do something to bring attention to the matter in a loving way.  She brought the idea to a writing session with Mark Narmore and Kenna Turner West and the three wrote this song.

Back Home was joined by Dr. Tim Hill, Director of Missions for the Church of God and Scott Fowler of Legacy Five on the video that was filmed at the North Cleveland Church of God/Dixon Chapel in Cleveland, TN.

Scott Fowler expresses, “My dad was a bi-vocational pastor.  I am very excited because I know this song and video will encourage pastors.”  Scott is also a featured guest vocalist on the duos newest CD.

Dr Tim Hill shares, “The first time I heard the song “Empty Pews” I knew that Jennifer Layne, Kenna Turner-West, and Mark Narmore had captured the heart of so many pastors in the United States of America and around the world, There’s something here that speaks about the need to follow God and your calling; the drive to please so many people; and, yet, the disappointment when you’re not able to. I hope that everybody who hears to this song and watches this video will be attentive to the lyrics but, more importantly, that they will listen carefully for the healing that flows through the lyrics in “Empty Pews.””

“We have had multiple TV Networks already asking for the video for their programming.   We are thankful that Rob Patz is debuting this on his GREAT site, SGN Scoops.’ (Jimmy Layne, Back Home)   Additional information on Back Home can be obtained from the Adoration Agency’s Sophia Davis at 1-615-590-7453 or sophia@adorationagency.com.

Jeff and Sheri Easter And Back Home Sing at Freedom Fest 2015

Jeff and Sheri Easter

Jeff and Sheri Easter

Trenton, GA – Jeff and Sheri Easter along with Gospel duet Back Home, both nominated in several categories for the upcoming Diamond Awards, sang to a packed house Friday, July 3rd at the White Oak Baptist Church in Trenton, GA. Freedom Fest was a night that began with great food, courtesy of some fantastic cooks from the host church. Jeff Easter was a happy man when he discovered that there was banana pudding, and yes, he made sure he was set up in time to grab a big bowl!

Back Home

Back Home

Back Home opened the service, singing songs from their latest release, One Name, along with some of their favorites from over the years. Jeff and Sheri then took the stage as only they can, singing several songs from their brand new CD, Small Town. After a short break they sang many requests, which led to a very moving service.

The night was full of laughs, tears, and worship, and was a true reminder of how blessed we are to live in this nation. It was great to see different denominations coming together to share in this freedom.

Whether you agree or disagree with the direction our country is moving, the fact remains that our independence is something worth celebrating.

Tomorrow may hold something different; but as for today, we are free to gather together and worship God, and we should be sure to do so.

Thus the reason for FREEDOM FEST! I am truly thankful to be an American. Even with all our flaws, and disagreements, I still believe that we are the greatest nation in the world, and that as long as we believe that we are “One Nation, Under God” we will remain to be so. God bless the USA!

Check online for more on Jeff and Sheri Easter and Back Home.

Be sure to cast your vote for the Diamond Awards today!

Back Home

Nashville, TN – Award nominated and winning trio Back Home (Jimmy and Jennifer Layne and Stacy Pearcy) from South Pittsburg, TN are releasing what folks are saying is the BEST CD they have heard to date from this group and in the Southern Gospel genre in years.  .

They are joined on this project, on a duet, with Scott Fowler of Legacy Five.  Scott says, “I have absolutely
fallen in love with Jimmy and Jen. I am absolutely CRAZY about their songwriting. Their songs consistently hit us where life hits us!  It’s rare these days for writers to be as vulnerable as Jen is with her songs. It’s so refreshing!  I am so excited
to be included on their new album singing with them!  They are both such incredible vocalists….I’m not sure how I talked them into this, but I can’t wait!”  Scott will also be appearing in a video with Back Home.
Also joining Jimmy and Jennifer on a duet is recently Grammy Nominated, T Graham Brown who said, “I’m so happy to be a part of this new project with Jimmy and Jennifer and the song I’m singing a duet on is the one of the best I have heard, I may just have to start singing it in my concerts.”
“Back Home has released some great CD’s in the past, but this CD is the best I’ve heard to date from them and that’s saying a mouthful,” says Chris Latham/Back Home producer and Grammy winning engineer.
The new CD titled “One Name” is loaded with award winning writers such as Jerry Salley, Sue Smith, Lee Black, Linda Davis, Adam Wheeler, Mark Narmore, Jeff King, Jennifer Layne, Marty Roe, Bernie Herms, Jimmy Olander, Diane Eve Warren, Aimee Mayo, William Luther, David Allen Clark, Donald A. Koch and Kenna Turner West.  Each and every song tells of the love of God and forgiveness He gives us and that we should give to each other.
Jeff King and Chris Latham, owners and producers of Cross Country Records, (Back Home’s label), are completely hands on in the record making process. They each play, engineer, and produce each song on every album. They are both Nashville veterans, with major accolades of their own. Jeff is touring with Reba McEntire and is one of music’s most in demand session players. And as always, Back Home’s CD is full of Nashville veteran player’s who year after play on their records.  Players include, Jeff King, Jerry Roe, Mike Johnson, Jason Webb, Chris Latham, Tammy King and Pat McGrath.
“We feel like God deserves the best that we can give him and that Gospel music needs to be quality in sound and words”  It’s about Him and reaching the folks that are hurting,” says Jimmy and Jennifer.
“I’m so happy to be working on my 7th year now with Back Home. Their music is fresh and real, telling powerful stories we can all relate to in some form. Their ministry brings comfort to those in need, and hope for people trying to change their lives. They’ve been through it, now they sing about it. If you haven’t experienced a live concert.. Do it!” said Jeff King/Producer of Back Home and Cross Country Records Producer and Owner.
Sheri Easter stated, “I remember the first thing Jeff ever told me about Back Home.  We were working a concert with them and he came back on the bus bragging on the harmonies, their vocals and what a wonderful writer Jen was.  Immediately, I was hooked.”

Her story touched Back Home’s lives and they hope this video will touch yours. Song was written by Jennifer Layne of Back Home and Mark Narmore.
