Canaan’s Crossing nominated for two SPBGMA awards

Written by SGN Scoops Staff on December 23, 2013 – 10:10 am -

CCSong Garden Music Group recording artist Canaan’s Crossing has obtained two SPBGMA nominations in their prestigious award ceremony slated for the Music City Sheraton in Nashville, TN on Sunday February 2, 2014. The Alabama based Bluegrass Gospel band is a nominee in the Gospel Group of the Year (Traditional) category plus the band’s fiddle player, Tina Miller is a nominee for Female Vocalist of the Year (Traditional). Miller stated, “I was in Walmart when Tim Maze called. He asked, “Are you sitting down?”. I asked if I should be. When he told me, I made a complete fool out of myself. This is a HUGE thing for us. In the bluegrass world, there are two things, IBMA and SPBGMA. If you make it to those “shows”, that is something to be proud of. The other artists nominated are very talented and to hear our name called out with theirs, is almost more than I can imagine.” A full list of nominees can be viewed at www.spbgma.com .

SPBGMA (pronounced Spig’-ma) is an acronym for the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America. This will be the 40th Anniversary of their Festival and Awards held each year in Nashville.

Canaan’s Crossing Takes Home Two Awards

Written by SGN Scoops on September 26, 2011 – 2:40 am -

Nashville, TN: Canaan’s Crossing is quickly becoming a fan favorite. With deep roots in both Southern Gospel and Bluegrass, they are helping to bridge the gap between both styles of music. In 2009, Canaan’s Crossing performed at an afternoon showcase at NQC and was selected as one of the few groups that got the opportunity to appear on the main stage for an evening performance. Evidently, that performance made an impression with fans everywhere because radio has taken a liking to Canaan’s Crossing. This year at NQC during the Front Porch Fellowship Awards, sponsored by Solid Gospel Radio’s Front Porch Fellowship Awards Show, Canaan’s Crossing won Bluegrass Artist of the Year and their recent radio hit, “Dying to Live Again” won Song of The Year. According to Song Garden Music Group V.P., David Staton, “It’s amazing to see how quickly Canaan’s Crossing is being accepted! One year, they are performing at NQC for the first time and in 2 years they are accepting awards for their work. We are proud to have them on Song Garden.”
