Williamsons feature in SGNScoops On The Road
Written by Staff on January 12, 2018 – 12:49 pm -
The Williamsons: Donnie and Lisa Williamson, Karl Rice, Darin Hebert
SGNScoops is “On The Road!” SGNScoops Magazine writer Robert York had the opportunity to spend some time with the Williamsons last weekend. The group traveled all the way from Weleetka, Okla. to be in Georgia. Saturday night was the 75th birthday concert for their friend James Wright of the Wright Family. Also that evening, the Wright Family performed as well as David Gresham. In addition to Donnie and Lisa Williamson, the group includes Darin Hubert and Karl Rice.

The Williamsons and hosts of Gospel Music USA, Karen Peck, Danny Jones
Donnie Williamson let me know that they would be at Southern Gospel Weekend coming up in Oxford, Alab., March 1, 2, 3. They also had their daughters with them. Monday morning they were scheduled to tape two TV programs for ‘Gospel Music USA’ which is hosted by Danny Jones, Mike LeFevre, and Karen Peck. I met the group with Danny Jones at Cracker Barrel for breakfast before the taping, enjoying a lot of joking and fun. You get Danny and Donnie together and you are in for a treat.
On to the tv station for the taping which was scheduled to start at noon. They taped the two programs and the interviews were just as much fun as breakfast. Also at the taping, the daughters and Lisa sang as a trio together. Gospel Music USA is aired on WATC-TV, which is available in the Atlanta area and also on the internet at www.watc.tv.
The Williamsons have produced more than a dozen recordings, performing material that is mostly written by Lisa and Donnie. They have been nominated in the Top Ten Best Mixed Group across the nation and have had several top 10 songs.
Make your reservations and pack your bags and come to Oxford, Alab., on March 1, 2, 3 and be the Williamsons and many other great Gospel groups. For more information on Southern Gospel Weekend click here.

Southern Gospel Sweethearts: Kari Gooch of Karen Peck and New River
Written by Staff on July 28, 2017 – 1:19 pm -
Kari Gooch of Karen Peck and New River
Cancer. If a word could physically punch you in the gut and knock the wind right out of you, that one would. It’s a word that sends shivers down your spine and pierces fear right to the heart. It knows no limits and holds back none of its wrath. It is no respecter of gender, age, race or status. Even now, as you read these words, at least one person will come to your mind that you know who has battled this relentless disease. It’s a word that you wouldn’t wish for your worst enemy, and you especially wouldn’t want for your dearest loved one.
In 2015, the reality of that dreaded word hit home in the Gooch household. Kari Gooch of Karen Peck and New River explains how that one of her family’s hardest trials became one of its greatest triumphs.
February of 2015 was the month that the Gooch family found out that Rickey Gooch, Kari’s dad, had cancer.
“After a neck scan, two biopsies, a CT scan and a PET scan, Rickey was diagnosed with squamous carcinoma, a type of cancer” (K.P. Gooch, 2015, https://www.sgnscoops.com/an-open-letter-from-karen-peck-gooch/). In an open letter to KPNR

Rickey and Karen Peck Gooch
followers, Karen Peck said, “Thank the Lord,” as they were relieved to find out the cancer was “confined to Rickey’s left tonsil area and had not spread anywhere else within his body.” In that same letter, Karen explained the difficulty of watching her husband suffer through all of his symptoms. It was certainly a trying time for all of them, including Kari’s older brother Matthew.

Congratulations Matthew and Preslee
Written by scoopsnews on July 21, 2017 – 4:29 pm -Comgratulations to The Gooch Family from SGN Scoops!
From Karen Peck Gooch (FB)
Yesterday was a big day for our family. We sang. We cried. We learned new things. Most of all we experienced the Holy Spirit in a powerful way. All of us were baptized into the Jordan River, and on the Mount of Beatitudes Matthew asked Preslee to marry him! Also he baptized her. It was precious. So y’all, I’m gaining another daughter! Ever since I was expecting him, I’ve asked the Lord to give him a good Godly spouse. I’ve prayed for her Matthew’s whole life. God is good.

Inspiring Word from Karen Peck Gooch
Written by scoopsnews on February 7, 2017 – 8:10 am -From Karen on Facebook:
Hey y’all! I usually don’t post things like this very often but I feel led to share this.
Last night I had a wonderful dream about the Lord’s return. We all knew the He was coming that day. The excitement was beyond anything imaginable. I remember feeling nothing but joy, peace, and love. When I woke up this morning I was disappointed that it was only a dream. I literally cried thinking about how I let silly things fill my mind that take the place of the important things. I need to be spending more time in the Word and listening more to His leading. The truth is…Jesus could return today! I should live my life everyday with that exciting thought and anticipation! And I want to sing songs that will bring conviction to the lost and encouragement to the believers. I know the Lord is coming back one day and I’m ready! Are you ready?
I love y’all beyond words. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!❤️
Thank you Karen for such an inspiring post! We at SGN Scoops love you and all you stand for.

The local residents gathered for hours in advance to hear the song they have loved hearing on the radio and listen to Karen Peck and New River sing it in person. Kari Gooch of Karen Peck and New River
Younger Perspective on Kari Gooch: By Erin Stevens
A word from the writer…
I have kept you all waiting long enough for this exciting interview! I knew it was finally time to help you get to know the daughter of one of the most prestigious, highly awarded and well loved ladies of our Gospel music industry. Who else could I possibly be referring to other than Karen Peck Gooch? Today, let’s dive into her darling daughter’s life, the sweet Kari Gooch, and find out what roadie livin’ looks like through her eyes.
It’s your turn to take center stage, Kari…
Erin: What was it like growing up with your mom being such a prominent figure in Gospel music?
Kari: As I get older, I see how loved and respected my mom is in the industry. Honestly, she has just been mom to me. She has always been there for me, and has always tried to put my brother and me before anything else.
Erin: For those that may not know the backstory, share what your first night on stage was like.
Kari: About two years ago, my mom got sick and completely lost her voice. I have always been really shy, and the thought of going on stage and singing terrified me! However, when my mom lost her voice, my Aunt Susan came to me and asked if I would help her sing, and I’ve been on stage ever since. Sometimes I still get nervous when I have to sing, but I’m trying to work through that!
Erin: How would you describe what it’s like being raised on a bus? Feel free to share pros and cons.
Kari: Being raised on the bus has definitely kept my life interesting! I practically learned to walk on a bus, so I have great balance. I’m really blessed to get to go different places every week, and to see things that most people my age have never seen. One downside to being raised on a bus is the space. When I was little, my brother, cousin, and I would try to think of different games to play. It’s really hard to play hide and seek on a 45-foot bus.

Erin: If you could do a duet with anyone in the music industry (any genre) who would it be?
Kari: One of my favorite artists right now is Tori Kelly, so I’d love to do a duet with her.
Erin: Are there any good books you’re reading lately that you’d like to share?
Kari: I am currently trying to finish up my freshman year of college, so most of the reading I do is studying for my classes. However, the last book I read for fun was “Good or God” by John Bevere.
