SGN Scoops’ Special NQC Wacky Wednesday: Super Singing Scotts!
Written by Staff on September 30, 2015 – 9:20 am -Thanks for joining us for another Wacky Wednesday on SGN Scoops. In honor of NQC week in Pigeon Forge, today we ask the insightful question, “Who is your favorite Gospel singer named Scott?”
SGN Scoops polled about 18 or so artists about various things and tabulated their answers. We have used this (not so great) scientific process to create today’s Wacky Wednesday Top Ten (more or less)!
On our initial tabulation of results, we have a tie of five answers each:
Chris, Clayton, Phil, David and Michaela voted for Scotty Inman. Joseph, Greg, Gary, Karen and Donna chose Scott Fowler.
Of course, you will notice from the list that there is a prevalence of Triumphant members who contributed to our poll!
Other answers received included:
Hannah Webb: “Scott Fowler.”
Lauren Talley Alvey: “This question could cause some friction on the Legacy
Five bus….”
Billy Blackwood: “Wow, that’s a hard one! Ha!”
Shannon Smith: “Scott Johnson, former Three Bridges lead singer.”
Scotty Inman: “LOL.”
And of course, the usual ambiguous responses from the Three… Musketeers, The Booth Brothers:
Booth Brothers 1: “I’ve heard of some singer named Fowler but I’m not sure what his first name is.”
Booth Brothers 2: “Great Scott! There are a lot of great Scotts!”
Booth Brothers 3: No response (napping).
**Note: The Booth Brothers each answered each question but wouldn’t say whose answer it was…therefore we are leaving it up to you, dear reader, to guess whether the pithy answer comes from Michael Booth, Ronnie Booth or Paul Lancaster!
So now you know! The answers may be a little odd, but that is how we roll on the SGN Scoops Wacky Wednesday!
Thanks again to all of our participants. Be watching SGN Scoops mainpage for more Wacky Wednesdays in the weeks to come. Do you want to suggest a subject or an artist? Email us at sgnscoops@gmail.com

SGN Scoops Wacky Wednesday: Top Ten Artist Favorite Pizza Toppings
Written by Staff on July 22, 2015 – 8:21 am -Thanks for joining us for another Wacky Wednesday on SGN Scoops. Today we ask another insightful question, “What do Gospel artists like to put on their pizza?” (because we know YOU are dying to know that answer!)
SGN Scoops polled a few artists about various things and tabulated their answers. We have used this (not so great) scientific process to create today’s Wacky Wednesday Top Ten!
The number one answer for favorite toppings was, of course, pepperoni. Who gave us this answer? Chris Jenkins, Karen Peck (who cheated and also asked for pineapple! But that’s okay because we all love Karen and she can say whatever she wants!) Joseph Habedank, Michaela Brown (yes, this kitchen chef actually eats pizza!) Billy Blackwood, and Gary Casto.
Donna King and Lauren Talley only wanted cheese!
David Sutton and Greg Bentley voted for sausage.
Two out of three Booth Brothers** asked for extra tomato sauce. The other one suggested green peppers.
Phil Collingsworth Sr. likes it Hawaiian style, and asked for pineapple.
Scott Inman also cheated, and instead of suggesting just one topping, he nominated “Meat Lovers” for his favorite. But again, we all love Scotty, so we let him get away with this response.
Speaking of Inmans, Scotty’s dad Clayton had only one word in response to what his favorite pizza topping was: “YES!”
Shannon Smith thinks along the same line as Clayton when he says, “Everything except anchovies!”
Hannah Webb stole this writer’s answer when she responded, “Barbeque Chicken!”
We are sure you have come away from this feature feeling more educated about the pizza toppings enjoyed by Southern Gospel artists. Or perhaps…just hungry for pizza. If so, we have accomplished our goal.
Stay tuned for more of these indepth polls right here on SGN Scoops!

SGN Scoops Wacky Wednesday: Top Ten Places Gospel Artists Like To Eat
Written by Staff on June 24, 2015 – 4:37 pm -Thanks for joining us for another Wacky Wednesday on SGN Scoops. Today we ask another insightful question: “Where do Gospel artists like to eat?”
SGN Scoops polled about 17 or so artists about various things and tabulated their answers. We have used this (not so great) scientific process to create today’s Wacky Wednesday Top Ten (more or less)!
Our panel of expert artists gave us the following answers.
The Number One answer it seems is, of course, Cracker Barrel. Now we aren’t sure if there is a particular entrée that is preferred by our contestants, although most of us on Facebook are aware that Gerald Wolfe likes Cracker Barrel for the lima beans. He was not one of our panel of guests, but five out of 17 on the panel voted for this country-style restaurant, including Greg Bentley, all three of the Booth Brothers and Donna King.
The next favorite place to eat is in a mall
food court, as voted on by Scotty Inman and David Sutton. David also indicated that he enjoys Bourbon Chicken in the mall.
Other favorite restaurants include…
Michaela Brown…Skyline Chili
Karen Peck… Longhorn Steakhouse
Hannah Webb… Panera
Lauren Talley Alvey…Cheesecake Factory
Gary Casto… Waffle House
Billy Blackwood… HuHot
Phil Collingsworth Sr. … Dickey’s Barbeque
Some other interesting responses include…
Clayton Inman, who likes to eat on the bus.
Joseph Habedank, who likes to investigate local restaurants.
Shannon Smith, who said, “Five Guys may be the most common and consistent, particularly when we’re on a tight
schedule (however, some of the local places are very cool and interesting.)”
So now you know! There may be more than 10 answers, but that is how we roll on the SGN Scoops Wacky Wednesday!
Thanks again to all of our participants. Be watching SGN Scoops mainpage for more Wacky Wednesdays in the weeks to come. Do you want to suggest a subject or an artist? Email us at sgnscoops@gmail.com

Rick Shelton Named VP of Daywind Music Publishing
Written by SGN Scoops on March 9, 2012 – 1:24 pm -Hendersonville, TN (March 9, 2012) – With 40 #1 songs, 2 BMI Christian Publisher of the Year nods and 10 GMA Dove Awards, including 2011 Song of the Year winner, “Sometimes I Cry,” Daywind Music Publishing has established a strong foothold in Christian music publishing. In recognition of his leadership towards this end, Rick Shelton has been named Vice President.
Since joining Daywind in 2004, Shelton has signed hit songwriters and forged a strategic partnership with Lifeway Worship enabling Daywind to start a choral print division. The most recent offering, “Love Won,” by Kenna Turner-West is up for a GMA Dove Award this year for Best Musical.
“Rick Shelton is a great leader. He is completely focused on finding ways to create opportunities for Daywind’s songwriters. We are so pleased to have him at the helm of our publishing division,” stated Ed Leonard, president of Daywind Music Group.
Shelton is overseeing Daywind’s expansion into other markets, recently hiring Stephen Duncan as Creative Director. Duncan is the first graduate of the Belmont University songwriting program and has great relationships across all genres of Christian music. His strong music background as a concert pianist will prove a plus as Daywind moves into praise and worship, adult contemporary and Christian hit radio formats through new writer signings and collaborations with the talented staff of songwriters at Daywind. “Stephen Duncan was highly recommended for this role by Steve Rice at Centricity and Mike Murray at Integrity, two men I highly respect in this industry, and I am so excited to see what we will accomplish together,“ said Shelton.
Daywind’s family of songwriters includes Caleb Collins, Marty Funderburk, Ronny Hinson, Scott Inman, Kyla Rowland, John Darin Rowsey, Jeff Steele, Ben Storie, Kenna West, Dianne Wilkinson, Daryl Williams and Gina Vera.

On-Site Exclusive Concert Report- “Triumphant Quartet”
Written by Rhonda on September 2, 2010 – 12:58 pm -SGNScoops would like to thank Southern Gospel Music Fan, Elaine Harcourt for sharing her experience of a recent Triumphant Quartet concert. Ms. Harcourt drove 2 hours to see the quartet and has stated it was well worth the trip.
Triumphant Quartet began their ministry in 2003 as the “Integrity Quartet” beginning at the Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN. Since that time, Triumphant Quartet has experienced tremendous success with hit songs and numerous awards and award nominations. Success hasn’t side-tracked Triumphant Quartet from their mission or changed the reason they sing. Triumphant proclaims “Christ is the reason we sing” and their mission is ” to spread the Word of God through song and share the good news of Christ with other believers.” (http://www.triumphantquartet.com/thegroup.html) Ms. Elaine Harcourt was one many who received a blessing that night and her story is as follows:
On Saturday, August 28, I drove to Iola, KS for the kick-off concert to the SEKCAS (Southeast KS Christian Artist Series) for the 2010-2011 season at the Bowlus Fine Arts Center. SEKCAS is a great venue and these concerts have been held here for a number of years. Each year between Aug- April, they bring 3-5 Southern Gospel Music concerts to mostly packed houses to town. It’s a small town but not small when it comes to knowing and loving Southern Gospel Music.
When I walked in the door of Bowlus Fine Arts Center, Scott Inman (baritone) and his dad, Clayton Inman(lead), were at the table! It was great getting to see them and visit with them awhile. David Sutton (tenor) joined us and I was able to get some pictures taken before the evening started.
After visiting and taking pictures, I made my way to my front-row seat & settled in for an evening of great music. This was my first Triumphant solo concert and it was great! A little comedy, a lot of music, and testimony rounded out the evening. Eric Bennett (bass) served as MC for the group & did an outstanding job.
Among other songs, they sang: “DON’T LET THE SANDALS FOOL YA”, “WHEN THE TRUMPET SOUNDS”, “DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW”, & “WHITE FLAG OF SURRENDER.” The promoters had made small white flags which they gave to everyone when they came in & it was great to see them waving! Eric sang “LONG BLACK TRAIN “& did a masterful job. Jeff Stice (pianist) & David Sutton (harmonica) played a duet on “THIS TRAIN.” Awesome! Later, Jeff played “THE HALLELUJAH CHORUS” + one other song. Eric gave a great lead-in to Scott’s “SOMEONE DIED FOR ME” which is a very moving song. The group sang a medley of standards including “DADDY SANG BASS.” During the song, the singers all went down into the crowd shaking hands & getting individuals to sing the lines “Daddy sang bass” & “Mama sang tenor”. It was a lot of fun.
It was a wonderful evening and well worth the 2 hour drive to get there! I recommend for everyone to go see Triumphant Quartet when you get the chance, you’ll get a blessing.
-Elaine Harcourt
*** The Triumphant Quartet will be having a “Homecoming” September 27th & 2th at the River Plantation RV Park & Conference Center in Sevierville, TN. For more concert and other information, visit http://www.triumphantquartet.com/
