Rod Burton Scores First Top 80 Hit!

Song Has Specific Message for Today’s Times

HOMEWOOD, Ill. – Rising Southern Gospel soloist Rod Burton has scored his first Top 80 single.  According to the December 2009 issue of the Singing News Magazine Top 80 chart, Southern Gospel’s official radio airplay chart, Rod Burton’s “Take a Stand” will debut at #75 on the respected chart.

“I am in awe at just how much God has used this song,” mentioned Rod Burton.  “The message of this song is certainly hitting home to a lot of Christians around this country, and I am so thankful that radio has gotten behind this song!”

In addition to charting on the Singing News Top 80, the song has also been a staple on the GospelMusicTimes.com Top 100 Fan Chart and has charted for multiple weeks on the SoGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart.

“Take a Stand” is the second single from Rod’s latest recording – Walking In the Light and has a message that is specific for the time that the nation and world is in today.

Rod Burton said, “The song starts with ‘The shape the world is in today breaks the Savior’s heart’. It’s not a song that I’d considered sending out, but this past Easter, I was watching the news as we got ready for service. I was so convicted that people need to hear the message of this song, with a chorus that says ‘It’s time for every Christian to rise and take a stand. Proclaim the love of Jesus, all throughout the land’.”

“If there was ever a time that Christians need to stand up and let our voices be heard, it’s now,” Rod continued.  “My hope is not chart positions, but that people all over this country will hear the song and catch the message; that they’ll be encouraged and inspired to stand up to what is wrong and hold on to what is right.”

“Take a Stand” was written by Bobby Carter and is the follow-up to Rod’s last single, the fan-favorite and Top 40 hit “That’s How a Miracle Feels.”  “Take a Stand” is being promoted to Southern Gospel radio through the Rick Hendrix Company.
